Hello ladies,
So I thought I'd put together a new thread for us (as you've probably seen in the main group). I thought this could be like a sub group (or side car as Haiyaa suggested) so we can chat about all things pregnancy without feeling that maybe we're overwhelming the TTC board.

I definitely don't want to leave the main bus and I know you all feel the same as we've created a amazing community of women supporting women... most people have said their ok with pregnancy chat but I know some are struggling with it and the shift in proportion of TTC vs BFPs, and we all know how hard it is to see too much pregnancy talk sometimes, especially if the journey has been long, as it has been for some. So I thought, lets be sensative to everyone's needs and have another option Flowers

I'm cautious about setting up a bus given I'm so so early but as I suggested it, I thought it best come from me Smile I am happy to set up the threads but I dont have a great urge to be the bus driver (haha) so if anyone else wants to chip in setting up subseqeunt buses then I'd be happy yo share the responsibility!

Please tag anyone that I may have missed - I tried to go through the board to get any recent BFPs but I could have missed someone easily and theres ALOT haha.

Let's have a little update on everyone to get started...

@Kirky658 exciting 4 weeks to go. Do they tell you at your 20 week scan where you are? They don't in my area thats why with my others I booked a 16 week private scan but I want a surprise this time so not going to. Hope the next 4 weeks go quick for you xx

Kirky658 · 30/03/2021 12:58

@djmum83 as far as I know they do! I'm trying to see the 20 week scan as the anomaly scan rather than the gender scan tbh. I'm terrified that something won't be right and it's all stemmed from my downs results being a lower stat than I expected I think. Going to chat to midwife on Thurs at my 16 week appt anyway. My mental health isn't great atm to be honest finding it a big struggle day to day. Where abouts are you? I'm Staffordshire x

lucyrp · 30/03/2021 13:00

Just had my 20 week scan everything looks great 🥰🥰 none the wiser as to what it might be 🙈

Gem176 · 30/03/2021 13:15

@Kirky658 can I ask what your downs risk result came back as? For me edwards and pataus came back at 1:100000 and downs came back as 1:32458

I'm assuming it's slightly higher because edwards and pataus are so much rarer and I'm now 8 years older than I was first pregnancy and as age increases so does your risk of downs 🤷🏻‍♀️

Kirky658 · 30/03/2021 13:47

@lucyrp yayyyy that's fabulous news! Couldn't they sneak at the gender?!

@gem176 my downs was 1 in 2700 and my Edwards and Pataus 1 in 58000 I think. That's what was weird as I'm only 27 and very healthy so it worried me for a bit. Now we've decided well it is still a low chance and all just statistics anyway x

lucyrp · 30/03/2021 13:48

@Kirky658 nope she asked if we wanted to find out and I said no but I'd like to have a look but didn't say here have a look or anything 🥺

Haiyaa · 30/03/2021 13:51

@Justanothercyster that is a really common feeling. I was terrified before DD, it is the unknown and the fact that your life will change forever BUT the good far outweighs the bad - otherwise I wouldn’t be going in for round 2! Enjoy your sofa cuddles!

Great news on the scan @lucyrp, such a relief when the 20 week is out of the way as you are pretty attached to bump by then.

Haven’t heard from @TTCAbroad for a while, how is is going?

Haiyaa · 30/03/2021 13:52

I’m going to get the Harmony test for Downs/Edwards this time around as I am a bit older but won’t be finding out the sex.

lucyrp · 30/03/2021 14:00

@Haiyaa they're moving around a lot now bless them, so cute. Had such a clear look at their legs il post a pic. I had all the screening done x

@Kirky658 I think the way they write the risk is alarming, it can be written as 1:2700 or 0.037% and I know which of those I find more reassuring!

@lucyrp so glad all went well 🥰 your resolve is so much better than mine... I'd have been badgering them to tell me 😂

My 20 week scan is 27th April but I've booked a private gender scan for 6th April because well I'm really impatient and I can't resist seeing bubba again 😂

OH has actually removed the walls from our bathroom!!! I've taken a weeks holiday so I could be away while he was doing all of this but nope he started early 🙈

@Kirky658 sorry your mental health is not good. I know how that feels I suffer with mental health issues and obviously came off all my pills to try for this baby some days are a struggle. I'm sure everything will be absolutely fine. I'm in Scotland.

@lucyrp fantastic so glad scan went well xx

lucyrp · 30/03/2021 14:45

@Gem176 I think my want to know is much less than I thought it was. I'm happy with whichever gender but my reasoning is that if I find out it's a boy when I've given birth il he much happier than finding out it's a boy 20 weeks in advance 🙈😂

@DJmum83 thank you! So happy to see them again xx

Kirky658 · 30/03/2021 14:47

@gem176 I love the bare bones bathroom haha! Yeah DH did it in percentages terms too. In the end of the day my age is on my side so I'm sticking with that. As if your 20 week scan is the day before mine you little sod 😂

@djmum83 thanks hun. I'm very fortunate really that I've always avoided the medication route but anxiety often gets the better of me.. Have had counselling in the past but just can't afford it now x

Florence13 · 30/03/2021 16:53

@lucyrp so glad all went well with your scan.

@Kirky658 sorry to hear your suffering with your mental health offering a hand hold.

Kate105 · 30/03/2021 18:08

So glad your scan went well @lucyrp and hugs to those who are struggling a wee bit right now!

I have massive guilts today. Phoned the midwife to arrange my 16 week scan to find they'd already booked it in... for the same time/date as my long-awaited hair appointment 😱😭 asked if there was any other time/date possible and they huffed and puffed and said they'd try and get back to me. No one has got back to me so I'm assuming that's a no 😭 I'm going to have to ring back tomorrow and just cancel the hair appointment aren't I! And just pray that the midwife doesn't ask me what's so important that I can't have my appointment...

I'm not even a huge hair and makeup person or anything but I JUST WANT MY HAIR DONE. Am I a bad person?! 😂

DJmum83 · 30/03/2021 18:40

@Kate105 phone and try get the midwives to come at a different time definitely. how long have we waited for our hair to get done.
If it was me I would be changing the midwife appointment as it will be a nightmare getting another hair appointment xx

Kirky658 · 30/03/2021 18:56

@kate105 omg deffo change it mate I haven't even got a hair appt yet xx

Kate105 · 30/03/2021 19:50

Thank you @DJmum83 @Kirky658 I feel far less shallow now! Pray for me ladies... I NEED MY ROOTS DONE!

Gem176 · 30/03/2021 20:08

@Kirky658 I'm bang on 19 weeks for the 20 week scan, it was meant to be the Friday (30th) but I have an appointment with the consultants on the Tuesday so they moved it so I wasn't having to go down twice in one week. It's a 200 mile round trip.... working in my favour for once 😂

@Kate105 definitely change the midwife appointment, I didn't see a message from my hairdresser for an hour and by that time the next available appointment was in may!!! It was only an hour 🙈 midwives will fit you in. I had a scan changed date/time and it took them minutes to send through the new appointment.

Kirky658 · 30/03/2021 20:10

@gem176 only kidding lovely hehe that's great how they've changed it for you though saving so much faffing ❤️

My 16 week appt is at 0930 Thursday so I've told work I'll be out till 11am. Why the hell not I see it as I give them enough time as it is x

SamoyedFan123 · 30/03/2021 20:23

@lucyrp that's lovely that your scan went so well - congrats 😊

Gem176 · 30/03/2021 21:06

@Kirky658 I was so happy when they changed it because it's going to be hell on the roads here as soon as lockdown lifts on the 26th. So doing that journey twice in one week was not appealing at all!! It's not appealing anyway but when stuck in a queue of cars doing 30mph I lose the will to live! I'm also not sure my bladder will hold for that long 🤔😂 bit worried they won't get what they are needing as it's still a bit early..... always something to stress over eh 🙈
Hope you are feeling a bit better now. Your chance of the three trisomies is tiny, age is most definitely on your side and you are fit and healthy 💗

@lucyrp Im a need to know personality, cannot stand not knowing something, hate surprises 😂 I think that's what makes me so desperate to find out! With dd they couldn't tell me (she was moving too much) so I had to wait a week then go back for a rescan! That week took forever 🤣

Florence13 · 31/03/2021 07:53

Morning ladies,

Can I just ask how long it took a midwife to get in touch with you in the first place? Just so I maybe have a rough idea of when I should expect contact.

TTCAbroad · 31/03/2021 08:23

Whew, lots happening - welcome and congratulations to the new riders @SamoyedFan123 @Florence13

I have been so exhausted lately that in the last week, aside from walking across the street to the grocery store, I have been on one dog walk and out for lunch once with my husband. The rest of the time I have spent sleeping, napping or dozing in between watching TV and a little reading. Occasionally crying at ridiculous things while watching TV. Thankfully my husband is amazing and has been working from home most of the time to do lunchtime dog walks/cleaning/procuring food. A few nights ago he came home at 7:30pm from the office, I woke up, we had a chat, I went to bed. The next morning I did not remember any of this happening - I basically didn't fully wake up through the whole interaction.

To any woman who manages to take care of children/work while feeling like this... respect.

On a non-pregnancy front: recently purchased a new rug to replace the old one that always looked dirty. New one is lovely and soft and matches the space much better.

@Haiyaa Thanks for tagging me! It gave me a little kick to get up off the couch, make some tea and do a little personal admin in front of my laptop for a while. As to your comment from a while ago - I can't actually tell if my dog is acting differently now. She wants to sit near/on me whenever I've sitting down but I'm not sure if that's because I'm more available now or she has some extra sense.

@Kirky658 I'm also a little worried about how our dog will react around a baby. Like your dog she's still young so can get over-excited in new situations and be a little full on, not exactly what you want with a newborn. Also - is jet washing a patio as satisfying as it looks? I've always wanted to try it. (And definitely take a year off to spite your boss Wink). And now that I've finally reached page 9 - I'm really sorry to hear your mental health hasn't been great. Has it been a consistent low mood or are there specific things that have been taking up space in your head?

@Thinkingandblinking I had a scan at 7 weeks for a little peace of mind. Really glad I did as my some of my symptoms (nausea, sore boobs and appetite) fluctuate wildly and it was making me nervous!

@Justanothercyster Feeling the same as you re: being in charge of keeping a tiny human alive. I'm trying not to think about it too much. Also, as we don't have anyone in around who can help us, I've been looking at night/maternity nurses just in case Blush.

@lucyrp Congrats on the good 20 week scan! The very casual pose in the ultrasound has me chuckling.

@Kate105 Hahaha hold onto that hair appointment! Everyone I know in the UK is absolutely desperate for a haircut. It's actually really funny facetiming and seeing how long their hair is (both men and women).

Few, took me a little while but caught up, for now. It's actually felt really nice sitting at my laptop with some tea and typing away.
