Hello ladies,
So I thought I'd put together a new thread for us (as you've probably seen in the main group). I thought this could be like a sub group (or side car as Haiyaa suggested) so we can chat about all things pregnancy without feeling that maybe we're overwhelming the TTC board.

I definitely don't want to leave the main bus and I know you all feel the same as we've created a amazing community of women supporting women... most people have said their ok with pregnancy chat but I know some are struggling with it and the shift in proportion of TTC vs BFPs, and we all know how hard it is to see too much pregnancy talk sometimes, especially if the journey has been long, as it has been for some. So I thought, lets be sensative to everyone's needs and have another option Flowers

I'm cautious about setting up a bus given I'm so so early but as I suggested it, I thought it best come from me Smile I am happy to set up the threads but I dont have a great urge to be the bus driver (haha) so if anyone else wants to chip in setting up subseqeunt buses then I'd be happy yo share the responsibility!

Please tag anyone that I may have missed - I tried to go through the board to get any recent BFPs but I could have missed someone easily and theres ALOT haha.

Let's have a little update on everyone to get started...

@lucyrp omg I love your Pram. My hubby won't let me get another Pram and it's sky blue the other one that I got for DS poor wee thing if it's a girl it will be walking about in a sky blue Pram.

Feel like a weight been lifted off me slept like a baby last night.

@Sausage1990 I'm 15 weeks now sickness started at 6 weeks and started to go about 14 weeks. I have been lucky I never had it with my 2 girls no sickness or nausea at all with my wee boy I had nausea but not as bad as this one.
I took the medication from 8 weeks until 14 weeks and baby has been fine on scans.

@SamoyedFan123 how are you doing? Are you still having to be monitored a lot? Feeling any movements yet hope so.

@TTCAbroad fantastic news it's a great feeling when you start to feel more like yourself again.

Right I best get a move on and do the school run.

@Minster2012 I'm thinking about you and have a good feeling all will be ok.

To everybody else I'm glad I have you all to support each other through this.
We have all got this xxx

lucyrp · 04/05/2021 08:26

@DJmum83 yes my old one is a blue silver cross wayfarer and my taste in prams has definitely changed since then. I wasn't going to spend more than £200 seen as I technically didn't need one I just wanted one so this was great for £150! Xxx

@Kirky658 I'm constantly tired atm 😂 thanks! I'm chuffed with it. Have to hide it when mum comes around as she'll be fuming I'm not using my old one! 😬

Kirky658 · 04/05/2021 08:54

@lucyrp glad it's not just me I'm forever knackered atm just had a power nap before work! Not sleeping well atm.

Justanothercyster · 04/05/2021 10:05

@lucyrp ah that's a gorgeous pram! Love the colour. I keep seeing Egg advertised, you'll have to let me know how you get on with it.

Speaking of, any recommended brands for prams etc? Also, what cots are people planning to get? There's so much to consider safety wise 🤯

@DJmum83 glad you managed to get some sleep! I feel like I'm getting a cold 😖

@Kirky658 I am soooo tired today 😴 wish these kids could teach themselves 😂

lucyrp · 04/05/2021 10:12

@Kirky658 yeah my sleep is kind of okay ag the moment although waking up to wee is a lot more frequent ! Baby just seems to be sat on my bladder all the time!

@Justanothercyster my best friend has an egg and loves it! Another one I nearly got was an icandy peach! They both look lovely and fold really compact too! Cot wise I have a cot bed that I got second hand which is a mothercare lulworth. Mamas and papas do some lovely ones

Minster2012 · 04/05/2021 11:26

Morning!

Feeling ok here thanks ladies, no more blood and I'm trying to just get through the days doing as little as possible 😂, have got mum and dad to look after X next Monday & Tuesday so I've got more of a break (under the guise of potential house viewings as no one knows except SIL & bestie) so that's good, WFH the rest of the time

@TTCAbroad yeyyyy for feeling more alive! That's great and another scan this week! Fab lots going on

@2020mission ha good for quickies! Yes no heavy pounding def i swear our sex on Friday helped lead to the bleed so I'm really cautious now

@Justanothercyster we have a second hand nursery set which is solid oak called mamas and papas "ocean" range, which is a cot bed which raises and lowers, and still being used 3 years later, we bought a new mattress as you should, here it is from photographers photo last week we got the whole set for £375. We have baby jogger prams, as most of our friends told us not to get a "travel set/system" as most of them end up hating them after about 6 months, so we got a seat for the car which is swivel from birth (& again still used now and we love it, wouldn't have any other) and borrowed a car seat for the birth from friends. All fun things to research but we went slightly different with a seat that stays in the car & im not fussed about a backward facing pram now 😂

@Minster2012 glad to hear there's been no more blood. Nothing here so far either 🤞

Quite interested in the pram chat. As this would be my first baby I'm clueless as to what we'll need but I'm sure I read somewhere prams are a waste of money as they don't fit in them for long at all, are expensive, hard to fold and manoeuvre? You ladies with babies already will know more...

Does anyone have any unnecessary purchases to recommend skipping? I was thinking no moses basket too for the same reason.

DJmum83 · 04/05/2021 11:56

I have had same Moses basket for all 3 of mine and love it will use it again it's a Claire de lune one and I use it downstairs.
We have always had a wooden crib in our room for the first 6 months but I sold it after DS so my SIL is giving me her chicco next to me this time.
I have the mamas and papas rialto nursery set in storage so will use that again.

Prams I have had loads 😂😂 I had the big modern silver cross for my first loved it but far too big and not practical,
My second I had second hand silver cross wayfarer and for my boy I had babystyle prestige so I'm using that again but still have the wayfarer that if it's a girl I'll buy a colour pack for x

SamoyedFan123 · 04/05/2021 11:59

Hi @DJmum83, I'm okay, thanks for asking! I've completely fallen off this thread because I've had a few days away from MN due to lack of time, and for some reason I stopped getting notifications about the thread until your tag this morning 🤔 I'm about 10 pages behind now so congrats to any new ladies that I've missed, and hugs to those struggling with anxiety and waiting for scans. I'm sorry to see you're had a scare @Minster2012 - it's good that you're resting up now though and had no further issues. I'm still not feeling proper movements at 30 weeks so constantly in and out of hospital for scans and monitoring. It's a bit stressful really. Good news is that our new car is here though 😊

Minster2012 · 04/05/2021 12:13

Oh yes and from birth we used a baby hammock! That was in our room next to me then into the cot bed. We used a Moses basket downstairs in a playpen so the dogs couldn't knock it over (the big dog was only 8 months and very skiddy on our floor) but lots of friends haven't used Moses baskets and used the pram with carrycot for downstairs naps etc
We skipped the removable car seat @2020mission though you have to have one to get discharged from hospital so we borrowed one that stopped us needing a new seat after 9/12 months

Minster2012 · 04/05/2021 12:16

@SamoyedFan123 yes to new car 🙌🏻that's awesome!

Ladies are there any good tv programme recommendations when I'm chilling out? Nice easy watching

lucyrp · 04/05/2021 12:19

Personally loved my travel system and excited to use it again. Well not the same one but yeah! Used ours up until age 4! Also found the small baby car seats really useful as when shopping could just put them on the pram frame and nip around rather than having to carry the carrycot too whilst out and about. Obviously they can't stay in them for long in terms of hours but really handy. Especially when they fall asleep in the car as you can carry them inside in the seat then transfer to bed or whatever

SamoyedFan123 · 04/05/2021 12:37

@minster2012 have you tried Schitt's Creek? I'm addicted to it atm 😊

Minster2012 · 04/05/2021 14:45

@SamoyedFan123 I haven't watched schitts creek actually DH watched it without me so can watch that thank you!

Justanothercyster · 04/05/2021 15:52

Omg this is blowing my mind, but thank you all haha! I think we'll just need to go and see the different options at some point to get my head around what these all look like.

I second the skipping pointless items- I'd love any recommendations!

Kirky658 · 04/05/2021 20:30

@minster2012 glad to hear there's been no more bleeding now and it's good you've got some time to yourself next week too.
@justanothercyster I've been strongly recommended the ickle bubba stomp travel system so we are going pram shopping this weekend & hopefully have a go at putting them up and down etc!

All feels oddly real now baby has a gender.... Scary!!! 🤣

Minster2012 · 04/05/2021 21:22

@Kirky658 I guess after the fun of the weekend I guess work would be deflating 🤣

So ladies let's talk discharge, a fair bit of white stuff around Minster parts today, should I have more to worry about? 🤔

Also whilst I'm at it, I'm really not good at this sleeping on my side malarkey, but online says you need to sleep on your side, but with no bodily changes it feels weird to me & is it necessary?

lucyrp · 04/05/2021 21:27

@Minster2012 so much discharge... like tonnes of the stuff 🙄🙄

Kirky658 · 04/05/2021 21:30

@minster2012 @lucyrp yep same here, rivers of the stuff 🙈

TTCAbroad · 04/05/2021 21:36

@Minster2012 I believe the sleep on your side recommendation comes into play after week 20? That’s when the uterus is heavy enough to press on a some large blood vessels which decreases blood flow to you (risk of fainting when you stand up) and baby (potentially increases the risk of stillbirth). I would note that the study on stillbirth was apparently small and looked at women who slept the most of the night on their back. Not sure if the have been any larger studies subsequently. So you’re good to lay pretty much however you like! I’m dreading week 20 because I go to sleep laying on my back with my arms crossed over my stomach (my husband says it’s “creepy”).

Minster2012 · 04/05/2021 21:46

@Kirky658 @lucyrp that's slightly reassuring at least, maybe?!

@TTCAbroad you sleep like a vampire! That's given me a laugh! Do you know morticia Adams? Like not personally but who I mean? But thank you that's great, I shall be ok for now then and maybe later buy one of those big pillows to prob me up🤞🏻

Kirky658 · 04/05/2021 21:51

@ttcabroad that is a rather unusual sleeping position 🤣 brilliant! Yeah it's post 20 weeks I believe, I struggle to sleep on my side and sometimes wake up on my back but I've read that's OK... Bizarre

And yep @minster2012 it's a thing apparently, extra discharge from the extra hormones = good news even though its gross!

TTCAbroad · 04/05/2021 22:00

@Minster2012 I know exactly who you mean 😂 my complexion isn’t too far off hers either. So one day much husband dropped something coming to bed and I was kinda startled out of sleep - I sat bolt upright from laying on my back and scared the crap out of my husband.
Also, glad to hear you haven’t had more bleeding!👍🏻

I’m also considering getting a pillow sooner rather than later. Might be good to figure out how to use it before it’s required.

Minster2012 · 04/05/2021 22:31

That's hilarious @TTCAbroad I often sleep on my front more which is even more worrying to me 🤣my boobs were not liking this position before, now they don't care, which is also worrying 🙄

Kate105 · 05/05/2021 07:35

I am also a reformed vampire back sleeper @TTCAbroad it really creeps my OH out! Now having to wedge myself in with pillows to try and stop it... but I miss it!
