Minster's Side car bumping along - TTC Graduates Bus 1

Sausage1990 · 24/03/2021 10:18

Hello ladies,
So I thought I'd put together a new thread for us (as you've probably seen in the main group). I thought this could be like a sub group (or side car as Haiyaa suggested) so we can chat about all things pregnancy without feeling that maybe we're overwhelming the TTC board.

I definitely don't want to leave the main bus and I know you all feel the same as we've created a amazing community of women supporting women... most people have said their ok with pregnancy chat but I know some are struggling with it and the shift in proportion of TTC vs BFPs, and we all know how hard it is to see too much pregnancy talk sometimes, especially if the journey has been long, as it has been for some. So I thought, lets be sensative to everyone's needs and have another option Flowers

I'm cautious about setting up a bus given I'm so so early but as I suggested it, I thought it best come from me Smile I am happy to set up the threads but I dont have a great urge to be the bus driver (haha) so if anyone else wants to chip in setting up subseqeunt buses then I'd be happy yo share the responsibility!

Please tag anyone that I may have missed - I tried to go through the board to get any recent BFPs but I could have missed someone easily and theres ALOT haha.

Let's have a little update on everyone to get started...

@Justanothercyster yeah ive got a feeling they cant do anything unless you're vomiting especailly if as @lucyrp says they help vomiting but not nausea... but thought as im calling for my persription i may as well ask.

@2020mission yeah i defo dont want to be sick but god im desperate for some respite... id say the nausea kicked in about 3 weeks ago but has got worse as the days have gone on and the last few days have been horrible.

@Justanothercyster I wish i was able to work from home. I am looking at having some short days to help rest more but i would like to talk about WFH i just dont know what im asking for tbh. I'd rather just be off... but its very hard when youve got booked clinics and patietns that need to be seen. I'll have to chat with my manager next week i think.

Thank you for your support girls. means alot. x

Just back from the scan and saw a tiny flickering heartbeat 💓 Dating about 6 weeks. Not out of the woods yet but still in shock that its good news 😅 Thanks for all the support x

@Sausage1990 I've had lots of nausea with previous pregnancies but sadly didn't find being sick help as its being caused by hormones, hope GP can give some advice that helps 🤞 Could you work some hours from home?

Asthenia · 23/04/2021 13:48

@Sausage1990 thanks for the welcome! I’m 30, first baby/time TTC, and it took us 9 months to conceive which seemed like forever while we were going through it but I know it’s really not in the scheme of things. Feeling cautiously optimistic! I was lurking on the other thread for ages before I finally posted, it was getting creepy Grin
Re sickness - I was asking my acupuncturist about it and she said that acupuncture can really help (of course she would haha but I do believe her). I’m also a total acupuncture convert as I definitely believe my first session was at least partly responsible for getting me pregnant!

Sausage1990 · 23/04/2021 14:27

@TickTockTee ahhh im so glad your scan went well & you saw a heartbeat! SO reassuring. With your previous nausea, did you find anything in particular helped? Im still waiting for the GP to call but hope it wont be long.
I potentionally could do some stuff from home if work agree to me doing some flexible working (longer lunch so i can rest and then work a bit later to make up my hours) so i think i'll speak to them next week.

@Asthenia ahh thats great - yes 9 months feels ages in the momnent doesnt it, it took us the same legnth of time to concieve our last pregancy and if felt FOREVER. thankfully this time is was only my 2nd cycle after my cycles returned, which im grateful for as i thought it would be another 9 months! Yeah ive heard acupuncture can be good but im not very good at needly things :/ not sure it would be the thing for me.

@ticktocktee glad to see an update from you lovely, glad all is OK 😘❤️ don't give up on the running! It is good for you and the baby. Midwife told me to just slow my pace down. Since I found out I went from 8:45 minute a mile to today 11:30 mins a mile! But I run so that I can hold a conversation now & find I enjoy it more. X

Justanothercyster · 23/04/2021 16:08

@Sausage1990 I was so annoyed schools started back just as the nausea was kicking in! Unfortunately wfh wasn't an option :( but my manager knew so he wasn't worried about sick days.

@TickTockTee aww seeing that little flutter is amazing isn't it. Glad it went well 💕

Florence13 · 23/04/2021 17:12

@Sausage1990 sorry to hear your suffering so bad with nausea I definitely think it’s worth mentioning to the gp to see if they have any suggestions. Nausea is so rough especially when it’s constant.

@Asthenia welcome to the bus.

@TickTockTee aww so happy all went well with your scan and keeping everything crossed everything settles for you and you don’t have any more scares. It is all such an anxious time when you don’t know what’s going on in there.

@lucyrp and @Kirky658 aww lovely bumps!! I cannot wait to have a bump no sign as of yet but not even 12 weeks yet.

Sorry I haven’t been around for a couple of days long shifts are really taking it out of me at the moment with the pregnancy exhaustion to. Getting nervous and excited for my 12 week scan next week.

Minster2012 · 23/04/2021 17:35

@TickTockTee that's fantastic how awesome. So pleased for you

I've just spoken to the midwife team and my booking in appointment isn't until 17th may, which feels so long away, even she said "oh by those dates you could be 9 weeks" humph and she said EDD is 21st Dec but that's just on the LMP.

Positive though I've got more blood thinners from the doctor 🙌🏻

Been painting & cleaning a lot today, trying to keep up the exercise too whilst I feel ok but did eat a caramel egg earlier 😬🙄

Just spoken to DH & he's in a stinker
Great stuff

Minster2012 · 23/04/2021 17:37

Oooo and I defloofed the foof! Treats! 🤣

2020mission · 23/04/2021 17:45

@Minster2012 is painting safe? I'm already worried about inhaling any chemicals 😅 to my surprise my OH has decided not to have any booze this weekend in solidarity with my new alcohol free life... but how long will it last? 😂 glad you've booked in... when was your LMP? I'm not calling until 6 weeks I'm still expecting it might not last and don't want to have to call up and cancel 😬 delaying the initial booking won't delay the first scan right?

Asthenia · 23/04/2021 17:53

@Minster2012 my midwife appointment is 17 May too! Although going by ovulation as conception date I’m currently 4+3 which is insanely early so trying to relax but it’s so hard.
@TickTockTee glad your scan went well!

Happy Friday everyone!

Minster2012 · 23/04/2021 17:58

@2020mission I go with most things are fine long as it's safe and crouched over satin paint what's not safe! It's fine, just got out the bath too 😱I don't think it will delay the scan I just wanted to hear back Cos of my medical history I'd rather "be on the books"

Minster2012 · 23/04/2021 17:58

@2020mission sorry didn't answer the LMP question, 16th March

2020mission · 23/04/2021 18:13

@Minster2012 I thought it was mid March 👍 yes makes sense for you to book in sooner and you are further along than me.

Did anyone else hold off on calling the maternity unit until about 6 weeks? I haven't even cancelled my fertility clinic appointment 😅 I will do it soon though as hopefully someone else can get seen sooner now!

Sausage1990 · 23/04/2021 18:22

So I spoke to the GP earl and she was really nice. She's prescribed me some anti sickness and said have a think and see what you want to do, as it's up to me if I want to take them or not. She said it may be that on a weekend I don't need them as I'm able to relax and rest but it may be that 1 or 2 will help you get through tough days in work. Obviously the less i can take the better but it's about weighing up the risks and benefits.
She said the risks are very small and thousands of women take them without problems but obviously can't be fully guaranteed but if it enables me to cope better and maybe eat something healthier and more nourishing too then that's a good thing. So she sorted a script for me to collect at the chemist tomorrow..

Tbh it feels good to have an option & great that she wasn't dismissive at all. I said I felt silly asking as I hadn't been sick but she said that nausea can be just as bad as vomiting, particularly if it's 24/7 with very little respite. Which it is. So overall I'm glad tonahve the antisickness tabs as an option to see if they help at all. Obviously I don't want to take them willy nilly, and probably won't take them at home but for work days.

@2020mission calling the midwives later won't effect your appointments. I only called last week after at 7+1 and they said I'd have my booking telephone call between week 8-10 and dating scan around 12-13 weeks. I think I'll be a booking at 10 weeks tho because apparently there's been an influx of newly preggo ladies haha. But no my calling later shouldn't delay things.

@justanothercyster oh that's so annoying about schools going back just as tour nausea kicked off 😫 awful. But good your boss was understanding.

@florence13 what day is your scan next week? Sorry you're struggling with your energy, do you have the weekend off to rest? Honestly the 1st trimester is such a mission 🙈

@minster2012 I think it's a good idea to get on the midwives books for you 100%. But i agree May feels ages away. I've got my scan on the 7th which is still 2 weeks away and it feels AGES away. I think time slows down in the 1st trimester, it definitely must!!!

Justanothercyster · 23/04/2021 18:29

@2020mission I was about 5 weeks I think

@Sausage1990 glad you managed to get some meds, hopefully you won't need them for long

I'm a grumpy mess right now, going to meet dh's parents half way to pick up the dog, I'm desperately hungry which makes me feel sick and very very tired! We were meant to have eaten by now and I'm getting hangry! Also having scanxiety for Monday morning, why do I feel like this is all a dream?

lucyrp · 23/04/2021 20:03

@Sausage1990 just going to ask what medication did you get prescribed ?? Because they said that to me, to only take them when I needed them or whenever I felt like it but the tablets didn't actually work until I religiously took 3 a day all the time.

@2020mission I called immediately and my booking appointment was booked straight away for 2 weeks later. I didn't cancel my fertility appointment until they rang to check I was still available. That was supposed to be 4th Jan and my booking appointment was 7th Jan!

Also yes first trimester goes so slow I think because you're so worried about something happening, no one else knows, you feel ill etc or feel nothing but second trimester flies by!

TickTockTee · 23/04/2021 20:07

EPU found a bleed next to the gestational sac so I may get more bleeding or it could be reabsorbed. They gave me their direct number so at least I have someone to call if I have any more problems. They've also said no baths if I'm bleeding at all due to risk of infection.

@Sausage1990 the anti-sickness bands you wear on your wrist helped last time and eating little and often - sadly no miracle cures. So glad the GP listened to you and hope the meds give you some relief if you decide to take them.

@Kirky658 EPU advised no strenuous activity which included running sadly. Hopefully can pick it up again once I'm out of the first trimester.

Kirky658 · 23/04/2021 20:23

@ticktocktee that is a shame lovely but hopefully you can at least enjoy the rest ❤️😘

Sausage1990 · 23/04/2021 20:40

@lucyrp oh that's interesting. I don't know what they've prescribed actually, I'll find out tomorrow when I pick them up. But I'll definitely check on the dosing. How long did you find you needed them?

@ticktocktee thanks for the tips. I've got the sickness bands so I think I'll use them more regularly to see if it helps. And definitely take it easy with the bleeding 💕

lucyrp · 23/04/2021 20:44

@Sausage1990 I had 30 tablets and used them all then got a new prescription of another 30 but didn't use many out of the nexg pot. Only used one or two to start with but then had to move to the 3 as they weren't helping

Kate105 · 23/04/2021 20:50

Glad it's good news @TickTockTee what a relief! Take it easy this weekend 😊

Sorry not much help on the nausea front @Sausage1990 but glad your GP was helpful. Maybe speak to your work about flexible working or WFH for a wee while?

Happy Friday everyone!

Minster2012 · 23/04/2021 21:02

@2020mission yes a week ahead maybe 2? I don't think much though as I ovulated around 3rd April so I bet actually behind where they think!

@Sausage1990 is it promethazine? I've been referred from my endocrine team to an endocrine antenatal team (the same one where I had the MMC /breakdown in the presence of last year) and they told me to get that asap in case I'm sick (sickness for me can be life threatening) and so I'm sure it's absolutely fine, last year one of the ladies in the Facebook group even got prescribed ondansetron after all else failed which I took as my anti sickness during chemo. Obviously the less you can take the better but your baby needs a healthy mummy!

@Justanothercyster it's not a dream! 🥰do they know?

Sausage1990 · 23/04/2021 22:01

@minster2012 yeah I think they're safe enough tbh. People with HG need loads qnd have healthy babies. I didn't think I'd even think about medication but alas this pregnancy has thrown a curve ball.
I'll let you know what they've prescribed once I pick it up tomorrow 👍🏻

@lucyrp that's interesting about what you needed vs what they advised. I'll definitely pay attention and do my own bit of research I think. Thank you for the insight x

@Sausage1990 I was really against taking anti-histamines for my hay fever but my OB was relaxed about it (for a certain type of AH). Finally one day I was sneezing and wheezing and my eyes were running and so broke down and took them and OH MY GOD. The relief was so intense I almost cried. What I’m trying to say is - sometimes you just need a break from feeling shitty. And I felt so good I couldn’t even make myself feel guilty about taking the tablets😅
