Minster's Side car bumping along - TTC Graduates Bus 1

Hello ladies,
So I thought I'd put together a new thread for us (as you've probably seen in the main group). I thought this could be like a sub group (or side car as Haiyaa suggested) so we can chat about all things pregnancy without feeling that maybe we're overwhelming the TTC board.

I definitely don't want to leave the main bus and I know you all feel the same as we've created a amazing community of women supporting women... most people have said their ok with pregnancy chat but I know some are struggling with it and the shift in proportion of TTC vs BFPs, and we all know how hard it is to see too much pregnancy talk sometimes, especially if the journey has been long, as it has been for some. So I thought, lets be sensative to everyone's needs and have another option Flowers

I'm cautious about setting up a bus given I'm so so early but as I suggested it, I thought it best come from me Smile I am happy to set up the threads but I dont have a great urge to be the bus driver (haha) so if anyone else wants to chip in setting up subseqeunt buses then I'd be happy yo share the responsibility!

Please tag anyone that I may have missed - I tried to go through the board to get any recent BFPs but I could have missed someone easily and theres ALOT haha.

Let's have a little update on everyone to get started...

Hi @Kirky658 please don't worry! My OH is a farmer and lambing as we speak. We've done a lot of research as to how to navigate this lambing time safely and the upshot is that the biggest (only real) danger of picking up toxo is if you come into direct contact with a newborn lamb or afterbirth.

We don't live on the farm, so when OH comes home he has to strip at the door, clothes straight in the washing machine so I don't touch them and I don't come near him until he's showered and in clean clothes. Our only potential transfer points are going to be on his clothes or skin, so once those are clean we're fine.

So as long as you haven't touched up a farmer or a new lamb directly, you're absolutely fine! 😉 hope that helps xxx

Thinkingandblinking · 18/04/2021 16:32

@Kirky658 I’m no expert but I thought you had to actually come in contact! I’m sure if risk was high the warnings would be more pronounced about country walks etc! Honestly think it will be ok! Totally understand anxiety though, I had terrible shooting pains this morning and had to go and have another private scan, I was beside myself again! All ok. It’s is really really hard to reign the anxiety in!

Justanothercyster · 18/04/2021 16:37

@Kirky658 like others have said I'm sure all will be fine x

@Thinkingandblinking ah did they say what the pain was? I had god awful cramps yesterday and I honestly feel like my belly is bigger today 😂 I assume bub is growing away in there.

Thinkingandblinking · 18/04/2021 17:21

@Justanothercyster no it was just sono so they said all looked ok but couldn’t comment on pains! It was really sudden and shooting so panic set in!

lucyrp · 18/04/2021 17:43

Ooo ladies bought the final piece of nursery furniture today and had a lovely look around mamas and papas. Could have spent way more than I did 🙈 I actually got some cot bumper bars which were interesting, I used a cot bumper with DS but I see the advice has now changed in regards to sids although they still had full bumpers in the shop! These bars look cool though as they still allow airflow into the cot which is the main reason I think for the advice to change

@Kirky658 like the others have said it's only if you're touching the sheep yourself or any products of theirs which may have come into contact with a farmers clothes etc x

Kirky658 · 18/04/2021 18:02

@kate105 thanks lovely, you've really helped to put my mind at ease. No touching up of farmers, sheep or lambs involved in our weekend 😂
@thinkingandblinking oh thanks hun, I am so glad you are ok ❤️ how many weeks are you now?
@justanothercyster @lucyrp thanks ladies 😘 also exciting about the nursery furniture!

I'm having this wierd thing where my bump is small ish in the morning and then huge at night I look like I've swallowed a whale 😂

Sausage1990 · 18/04/2021 19:53

Hi ladies. Sorry I've not been here much, I popped over to the main thread to chat a bit yesterday & one thread was enough for 1 day hahaha.

@lucyrp exciting about your nursery being done 🥰 can't wait to get to that stage & start planning.

@thinkingandblinking how are you feeling now? I hope the cramps have settled. What kind of cramps where they? I get cramps and pains quite alot but it's my ibs that's playing up, just sometimes my bowel pain is low so I worry but then it eases with a BM so I know it's ibs and nothing else.

Speaking of BM actually, I know constipation is supposed to be a pregnancy thing, but has anyone experienced it the other way? As in going more? Sorry this is tmi but I can do 2-3 times a day, I'm like that the day af arrives so I am assuming it's hormones but everything I read about BM and pregnancy is all about constipation... Just curious is anyone else has this.

I am slap bang in the middle of the nausea & food aversions phase of the 1st trimester now, and I expect to be here for at least another 5-7 weeks (currently about 7 weeks so assume it will go on until 12-14 weeks (here's hoping it won't be ages longer)... My diet is mostly potatoes in any form, biscuits, plain hot cross buns & tangy sweets. I can't stand the smell of anything, the fridge & I are no longer friends because its reeks (although it actually doesn't it's just me and my bloodhound nose) and although I'm knackered all the time, I'm waking up before 6.30am every day (which I assume is a hormones thing too!!!). And although this all sounds doom & gloom it's not haha I'm Ok, just trying to live my best slug life hahaha 🙈🤣🐌

How are you all doing? Xx

@sausage1990 hey lovely! Yep I am either stopped up or the other way round. No rhyme or reason to it! I have to say I don't miss that time of only being able and wanting to eat certain things! The only thing I can't stand the thought of still is apples and a Sunday roast. Just can't have it! Yucky. X

DJmum83 · 18/04/2021 20:45

Hi everyone

Sorry I have not been on much between the sickness, looking after 3 kids and working plus getting the house decorated and all new carpets it's been a rather hectic week.

I would like to say the nausea is better but it's all day until about 7/8 at night still only want to eat certain things. Really hoping this passes soon. I'm 13+2 today scan tomorrow.

How is everybody else doing?

@lucyrp exciting about the furniture xx

Kate105 · 18/04/2021 20:48

That slug life comment has really tickled me @Sausage1990 that sums it up so well! 😂 mind you I am so glad to be past slug life now.

At 16 weeks I'm feeling alive again haha although I still can't go back to yogurt for some reason... Could be worse as an aversion! Only thing is I am still massively constipated, or at least I would be if I wasn't dosing myself with Lactulose regularly. Sorry, not much help to you asking about BM in the other direction! Also can't quite shift my afternoon nap requirement, so still waiting on that burst of 2nd trimester energy you always hear about 🤨 Also, I MISS WINE 😭

Glad that helped @Kirky658 but at the same time would thoroughly recommend touching up a farmer if you ever get the chance 😂😉 once he's clean of course...!

Kirky658 · 18/04/2021 20:54

@kate105 😋🤣 oh dear I'll bear that in mind, bestie and her fiance is a farmer, perhaps not him tho hahahaha 🤣
@sausage1990 "I didn't choose the slug life, it chose me" 😋

Thinkingandblinking · 18/04/2021 21:00

@Kirky658 I’m 8+6 at mo time has slowed down. It’s the exhaustion kicking my arse, sickness not too bad (sorry to those suffering) but I’m also like spider senses with the smells....

@Sausage1990 I never thought of the ibs but this was a sharp pain up my bum (tmi) so maybe a link and it’s playing up...I’m also in the constipated, lactulose camp....

@DJmum83 good luck with the scan tomorrow xx

Kirky658 · 18/04/2021 21:03

@thinkingandblinking I remember those days and not fondly! The exhaustion killed me till about 14 weeks I couldn't stop sleeping all the time. Mind you I'm 19 weeks on Wednesday and some days, like today, just couldn't hack it and had an hour this afternoon! Should've been running today but just didn't have the energy.

SamoyedFan123 · 18/04/2021 21:19

@Sausage1990 yes to the increased BM here. Diarrhoea all through first trimester in both pregnancies, then things slowed down in the second trimester - got constipated and needed lactulose last time but that was twins, this time things just went back to more or less normal but still more often on some days. I've read that hormones can cause bow changes in either direction depending on the woman age is nothing to worry about! HTH x

TTCAbroad · 19/04/2021 00:55

Regarding having a vaccine - if you have Instagram check out 'Babiesafter35'. She is a maternal foetal medicine specialist (a doctor which specializes in managing maternal and foetal health before, during and just after birth) and she provides excellent unbiased information regarding the vaccine. I've never heard her say that a woman should or should not receive the vaccine - she breaks down new research and papers, debunks myths and approaches the discussion in a factual and rational manner. More generally though, the CDC, NHS and ACOG are all good sources of information.

Aside from that, I am definitely keen to get the vaccine if I'm ever able to. There is concern in Ontario (largest province in Canada) as 20% of intensive care beds, at one of the major hospitals, are now occupied by pregnant women. They aren't sure what's causing it but there is some worry that the new variants are impacting pregnant people more. (Note: This is new information which is being reported by one hospital). Additionally one of my best friends is an intensive care doctor in London and has relayed some really shocking stories about covid and pregnancy which have kind of driven the risks home for me, even if they are the extreme end of cases.

Apologies for the spiel - I think it should be every pregnant woman's right to have or not have the vaccine but I also think that it is a responsibility to understand the risks which come with both options!

@Florence13 Ah, basically due date buddies! How have you been feeling lately? I think I'm coming through the worst of the fatigue and nausea, though I still don't have much of an appetite.

@SamoyedFan123 Your husband is being an absolute champ - that's amazing Grin

@Kate105 The thing that curbed my desire for wine was taking a sip. My husband was drinking, what he said was, delicious wine but it tasted like vinegar to me Sad. Now I'm just praying that the taste returns to normal afterwards.

SamoyedFan123 · 19/04/2021 08:33

@TTCAbroad thank you for sharing that info xxx

Florence13 · 19/04/2021 08:39

@TTCAbroad aww glad to hear you feel like your coming through the other side. I have to admit I’m still feeling fatigued a lot but can’t tell if it’s the shifts I’m working or pregnancy but probably it’s a mix of both.

@Kirky658 it sounds like you had a lovely date day although sorry to hear the lambs made you feel anxious.

@Sausage1990 I feel you, I’m also living the slug life between my shifts.

@SamoyedFan123 sounds like your hubby is being fab!! Can understand why you feel there may be something hiding waiting to come out but actually maybe you just have a really epic hubby. I feel like mine has stepped up to the plate more and been helping around the house a lot more.

lucyrp · 19/04/2021 13:44

@Sausage1990 it is very exciting! I did start a bit early but once I get in my head I need to get stuff done there's no stopping me 🤣 we had to move our bedroom around too so wanted to figure out how we were doing that etc.

@DJmum83 thanks! Let us know how your scan goes! Xxx

I was really constipated in the first trimester and when I could finally go it was the opposite! I wouldn't say I'm constipated now but definitely not going as often as I usually would!

I'm 23 weeks today😁😁

Justanothercyster · 19/04/2021 16:38

Just wrote a big long message and it's gone 😭

On the toilet stuff, I have a few days bunged up and a day where I just keep going (not the runs though), seems to make sense.

My first day back at work killed me today, so so tired, banging headache and ravenous with hunger 😰 how do you guys cope with hunger after work without binging?

Kirky658 · 19/04/2021 19:18

@djmum83 seen your scan pic in the other group, so happy for you all is OK 😘❤️ gorgeous little wriggler!

DJmum83 · 19/04/2021 23:02

@Kirky658 thank you.
I was so convinced I was having a boy but after today I'm sure it's a girl.
Would not stop moving and flipping face down she kept calling it a naughty baby 😂😂 sounds like it will fit right in with my other 3 xx

SamoyedFan123 · 20/04/2021 07:54

@DJmum83 congrats on your scan - glad all is well 😀 lovely photo too.

Florence13 · 20/04/2021 13:43

@DJmum83 congratulations on your scan glad it all went well.

@SamoyedFan123 how are you doing?

@Kirky658 when is your scan?

@Justanothercyster I’ll be honest I just binge when my body wants it as I have days where my appetite is non existent.

Kirky658 · 20/04/2021 14:18

@florence13 it's a week tomorrow 😬

SamoyedFan123 · 20/04/2021 15:04

@florence13 I'm good, thanks for asking. 28 + 2 abdomen still barely feeling any movements at all so constantly in and out of hospital for CTG monitoring and scans. The issue is clearly with me not baby as all monitoring shows he is very active!
