Hello ladies,
So I thought I'd put together a new thread for us (as you've probably seen in the main group). I thought this could be like a sub group (or side car as Haiyaa suggested) so we can chat about all things pregnancy without feeling that maybe we're overwhelming the TTC board.

I definitely don't want to leave the main bus and I know you all feel the same as we've created a amazing community of women supporting women... most people have said their ok with pregnancy chat but I know some are struggling with it and the shift in proportion of TTC vs BFPs, and we all know how hard it is to see too much pregnancy talk sometimes, especially if the journey has been long, as it has been for some. So I thought, lets be sensative to everyone's needs and have another option Flowers

I'm cautious about setting up a bus given I'm so so early but as I suggested it, I thought it best come from me Smile I am happy to set up the threads but I dont have a great urge to be the bus driver (haha) so if anyone else wants to chip in setting up subseqeunt buses then I'd be happy yo share the responsibility!

Please tag anyone that I may have missed - I tried to go through the board to get any recent BFPs but I could have missed someone easily and theres ALOT haha.

Let's have a little update on everyone to get started...

@Justanothercyster it's been really easy for me and our local midwives are great. I referred directly to them, not through my GP, and they phoned the same day to book me in for the 8 week appointment! 12 week scan came through the post from the hospital, and at that scan they told me to ring my midwife and arrange the 16 week appointment. If you've got a phone contact for a midwife I would give that a try?

Glad your appointment went well @Kirky658 I'm excited for mine now! Less than 2 weeks! Having these appointments monthly is a nice way of counting down the time I think. Or is it counting up??? 🧐

Ahhhhh you lucky thing @SamoyedFan123 I am also a premature grey head so desperate for these roots to be gone!

Well I have celebrated end of term in style with chicken Kiev and smiley faces like an absolute child 😂 OH working late tonight so took full advantage and ate both Kievs 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm so full but it was so worth it! And anyway I've got calories to spare because I'd usually have wine with my dinner. That's how it works, right?!

Kirky658 · 01/04/2021 20:15

@kate105 kievs and smileys sounds bloody awesome! I've just polished off 3 homemade Fajitas now I'm like I could eat something else hahaha x

Justanothercyster · 01/04/2021 20:31

@Thinkingandblinking haha it was good. It's funny I seem to have sick days for a few days and then a day or two where I'm just SO hungry and nothing fills me up!

@Kate105 that's awesome. I had the 8 week apt last Saturday so assume their maybe waiting for blood results etc before setting up the next one? I'll give it a week and call. Yummy dinner!

Sausage1990 · 02/04/2021 12:29

Hi girls sorry I’ve been MIA this week. I’ve been making a cake for my work colleagues retirement lunch yesterday and doing it on top of full-time work & 1st trimester exhaustion, its just wiped me out.

An update from me @DJmum83 & @haiyaa - I’m now 5wk+1 and still don’t really have as many symptoms as last time. I’m trying hard not to compare the 2 pregnancies but it is hard lol. I have some indigestion and nausea but mostly in the evenings and very little really. The fatigue is next level which has been hard in work. I’ve had a horrible ibs flair up, and have had lower abdo pain these last few days. It has stressed me out a bit tbh but it eases with a hot water bottle. I do worry a bit about ectopic BUT I had this around the same time last pregnancy too. I went to EPU last time and they said it was all fine and it was my bowel. I realised it did get better once I’d been to the toilet or passed wind (sorry tmi), and it’s the same now so I’m trying to let my rational mind be in charge. I had a major ibs flair up last time so I think pregnancy hormones and my gut DO NOT get on. I am SOOO bloated and gassy. If the discomfort/pain gets worse tho I will get in touch with EPU again.

Oohhh speaking of EPU I called them yesterday & spoke to the nurse who looed after me during my whole miscarriage process and told her about the new pregnancy, she was so lush. Super excited for me (which was so lovely) and she booked me in for a viability scan on the 13th of April when I’ll be 6wks+5… it’s feeling a bit real. Which is a bit scary tbh, I don’t know why but I was shaking when I got off the phone to EPU. So silly. Anyway, once I’ve had the viability scan and I can be sure it’s all going okay, ill then book in with the midwives.

We’re telling our families this bank holiday weekend and also our close friends. They were a huge support after our MMC and we just want to share the good news with them… the friends are DH’s best friend & his wife, and she & I message all the time so atm I'm trying to dodge the TTC questions so it will feel good to share. lol

SOOO I ended up with a HUGE reply because I had a lot to catch up on. I apologise in advance.

@kirky658 I’m so glad your 16-week appointment went well & you got to hear baby’s heartbeat!

@lucryrp I don’t know if I comment on your scan but im so glad it went well. Baby is looking so good!!! Half way there now hun! God its going fast!!!

@DJmum83 I’m sorry you having so many up & down days, hopefully you can make the most of the days when your sickness is more manageable. Lush of you OH to book a private scan – how thoughtful of him 😊

@kate105 I’m so glad you got your midwife appointment rearranged & you get to still have your hairdresser’s appointment. I’ve not made a hair appointment yet but I do need to book something soon. Thankfully I have balayage so it’s not too desperate colour wise. Grateful for low maintenance hair haha… that’s so great that your midwives have been good. Mine were last time tbh and the EPU have been great so I’m hopeful for a positive experience this time around. Hah we had similar tea last night – I had fish fingers, waffles & beans! Children’s tea is the best!

@florence13 sorry you’ve feeling so unwell so soon :/ that really sucks.

@samoyedfan123 Gosh I’m sorry you’ve had a stressful time. I hope they can reassure you and that everything is okay with baby, although you’re right, getting in for appointments daily with toddler twins is a mission! What are you going to do? Try not to worry too much about the glucose test. If they diagnose early you can definitely slow down baby's growth etc, I am a diabetes specialist dietitian and a big part of my job is pregnancy so if you do get a diagnosis, I can help 😊

@justanothercyster I’m so envious of your 2 weeks off haha I will enjoy my 4 day weekend but defo need to book myself some annual leave. Knackered.

@thinkingandblinking I’m similar to you, a bit worried I don’t feel more sick… but I’m sure it will hit later and we'll both be like WHY did we wish for this!?!… or maybe we’ll just get lucky … who knows?!

So sorry that I’ve missed stuff. I’m going to try to stay on top of the threads more this next week. Hope you’re all okay. xxx

@Sausage1990 that cake is amazing! I wish I could do that - I can just about manage a Victoria sponge 😂 Try not to worry too much about the lack of nausea - once you hit 6 weeks it will probably kick in and you'll be wishing it was gone again! Thank you got the kind offer - I didn't hear anything back about the first test yesterday which I assume means nothing obvious was found? Feeling a bit better today because of that. They said the other test (which looks at blood suggests over the last 3 months I think?) wouldn't be back until next week though.

@Thinkingandblinking your 'big' baby turned out to be 5lb?! That's amazing. I don't think they're far wrong in this case because they said he was measuring 1 week ahead at 20 week scan, and now at 25 weeks he is almost 2 weeks ahead - growing like a weed! Maybe I need to just stop eating for a while 🤔😳

@Kirky658 it's sunny here today and I'm just washing the patio - you've inspired me 🌞😊

Hope everyone else has this lovely weather and is managing to enjoy it in spite of morning sickness and tiredness!

Sausage1990 · 02/04/2021 14:23

Ahhh thanks @samoyedfan123 it took me 4 evenings to do the cake definitely not an easy tasks but I'm pleased with it 😌 if they've got got back to you with results then that's positive. The other test is your HbA1c and that's looking at how my b glucose is stuck to your red blood cells in the last 3 months. There's meant to be some because that's how it travels around the body but with diabetes there's more than normal (because the body ain't processing it properly), so if your glucose tolerance test came back normal then I think I'd be fairly confident that the HbA1c will too. An elevated HbA1c is actually a sign of undiagnosed type 2 or type 1 diabetes & if that's the case the your glucose tolerance test would DEFINITELY be elevated. So I think it's probably all good news 😊 keep me posted tho xx

@sausage1990 really pleased you're going for an early scan hun that's great news.

Sorry bit quiet from me today, decorating has done me in! Just Chosen the colour for the nursery the one on the right! And we've got jungle stickers to go on top x

SamoyedFan123 · 02/04/2021 19:37

@Sausage1990 thanks for the info - that makes me feel better 😊 just need the little chunk to slow down a bit then 😂

@kirky658 lovely choice in paint. We used the wall stickers on our nursery too - they are great. One word of advice I would give is makes sure you put them out of reach of toddler hands near the cot! We didn't think about what would happen when the twins got bigger and now they delight in standing up in their cots and peeling the ones they can reach off the wall 😠

lucyrp · 02/04/2021 19:44

@Sausage1990 thank you! Yes I know its flying by. Can't believe I'm nearly another week gone already! So relieved that everything was okay with them. How're you ?

I am feeling absolutely massive right about now. This is me so far 🙈🤣

@kirky685 love the colour you've chosen & jungle theme is so cute!!!

@samoyedfan123 oh that's a really good tip about keeping it out of the way of little fingers.

My friend just sent me this post on Instagram and I thought a few of you girls would appreciate it too so wanted to share 💕🌈✨

@Florence13 asos! They do some great maternity pieces

Sausage1990 · 02/04/2021 20:01

@lucyrp gorgeous bump!!!! 😍 You really look blooming 💕
I'm okay. Anxiety is up and down, and trying to ignore my tummy discomfort because I know it's not a pregnancy thing as I have this outside of pregnancy too.... But also not dismiss it completely incase it gets worse and I need to get some medical advice. But otherwise I'm okay. Wish I could be put to sleep for the next 8 weeks and just wake up on the 2nd trimester knowing I've got through all the really scary parts for me haha

Kirky658 · 02/04/2021 20:15

@samoyedfan123 amazing tip, thank you!!!
@lucyrp you're looking bloody gorgeous ❤️😘
Just ordered £50 of maternity clothes off new look, hope they fit!!! X

Thinkingandblinking · 02/04/2021 20:18

@SamoyedFan123 I know it was shocking, think they went a bit overboard with the GD medication and diet and actually half starved the little-man in the end!

@lucyrp your bump is looking super neat!

@Sausage1990 yep fast forward to post 12 weeks would be ideal! I have been super emosh today, basically decided it’s all going to go wrong...etc...a real wobble day! Just got to pick myself back up and put my game face back on! It’s hard though...

Thinkingandblinking · 02/04/2021 20:20

@Sausage1990 just seen the affirmations, thanks for sharing!

lucyrp · 02/04/2021 20:29

@Sausage1990 aww thank you lovely! I feel absolutely massive not going to lie. I wasn't this big until at least 26 weeks ish with DS! Did I read you have an early viability scan booked in? If so that's great that'll really give you piece of mind, I'm so glad I did mine. Don't wish it away it goes so fast honest! Although I'm glad I don't feel like crap anymore there's a lot of other things that come with second trimester 🤣🥺

@Kirky658 thanks! Ooo yes new look have some nice dresses, got some belted ones in my basket. Midi bodycons are going to be my go to🤪

@Thinkingandblinking thanks!🥰

Justanothercyster · 02/04/2021 20:39

@Sausage1990 lovely cake! It's natural for you to feel shaky I think, especially after last time. It's nice she was so lovely :) ahh we were going to tell dh's parents tomorrow, giving them an egg each saying "we're egg-specting" and all that, but they've invited dh's sister and family on our walk now too which means we can't 😫 we only want to tell them for now and the rest of his family (he's one of 5 kids!) after 12 week scan. So annoying 😖

@lucyrp awww! Lovely bump 💕 when did you start showing out of interest? I can't wait to have a bump start as I think I'll stop forgetting somethings in there! My trousers are already starting to feel tighter but I think it's just bloating haha.

lucyrp · 02/04/2021 20:51

@Justanothercyster I think I was bloated up until 12 weeks, I lost a stone between week 6 and week 12 so I can't say I showed much then but about 5 days after my 12 week scan I popped then. This is my second though so they do say you pop much earlier. I didn't feel like I'd got any bigger between week 12 and now as you don't really notice it but looking back I definitely have! I still forget I have a baby in my tummy me and OH always say omg guess what there's a baby in my belly 😂 I know I'm pregnant but just forget that that means there's a human growing inside of me !

Clairey844 · 02/04/2021 20:53

@DJmum83 thanks for the tag, forgot about this sidecar lol.
Enjoy your 10 days off, gotta love Easter!! And how lovely is your OH doing that as a surprise 🥰

All good here, 23 and a bit weeks, feeling lots of movement and OH managed to feel it too the other day which was nice 🥰

@Kirky658 that's brill you got to hear the heartbeat; my MW said they don't here at the 16 weeks so haven't had anyone listen to it (although I have found it myself with my doppler just for fun)

@SamoyedFan123 sorry to hear you've had a bit of a stressful few days but at least the gestational diabetes test will tell you either way so you won't have to worry unnecessarily much longer, it's probably just a big strong bouncing bubba kicking you towards your back hence not feeling it 🥰
Was the test the one where you have to drink the drink then hang around for 2 hours for another or just a normal single blood test (just being nosey as I have mine in a few weeks)

@Sausage1990 that's great they've booked you for an early scan 🥰 and wow that cake is amazing!!!

@lucyrp lovely bump, I'm defo showing quicker/bigger this time!

Xxx

Kate105 · 02/04/2021 20:54

Curious to see when you all started showing as well! I've been out of my jeans and work trousers since about 11 weeks, but I've realised that that must have been mostly bloating because I'm definitely neater this week than I have been! I'm in that awkward in between phase where maternity clothes are too big but I definitely can't wear my own jeans any more.

In other maternity clothes news I have switched to maternity tights... Bought some H&M cheapy ones but kept putting holes in them so went up a price bracket to Next and omg they're like industrial strength 😂 I think they might actually be bulletproof!

Fabulous cake @Sausage1990 I'm impressed! I love to bake but can never be arsed with the decorating so I never make anything that looks properly nice 😂

Had such a gorgeous day off... pottered round the house all morning just generally faffing then had a good old nap in the afternoon. Bliss!

Kirky658 · 02/04/2021 20:55

@justanothercyster @kate105 I was mostly bloated till about 13 weeks then all of a sudden tiny bump appeared. Now It is quite obvious I'm pregnant hence ordering new clothes 😂

Clairey844 · 02/04/2021 20:57

@Kate105 just seen your post, do you know the trick with a hairband to see you through those in between weeks? You use one to hook through the eyelet and round the button of your jeans/trousers and it just expands the waist that bit when your tummy isn't quite big enough to hold up maternity ones lol x

lucyrp · 02/04/2021 21:08

@Clairey844 yes me too! I was in maternity leggings at 13 weeks I think. The week of my 12 week scan I still fit in my normal jeans better than I had in months because of being so sick but then within a week I literally popped! I saw you tagged me somewhere about my insta but couldn't find it. Think it was on the other bus! But struggling to keep up with that now ! Xxx

SamoyedFan123 · 02/04/2021 21:08

@clairey844 my trust aren't doing the glucose drink/2 hour wait thing anymore due to Covid. Its just a single blood test where they take two vials - one is fasting blood sugar level and the other as Sausage1990 was saying tests for what your blood sugars have been doing for the past 3 months or so. It's literally an in and out appointment. Not sure if all trusts are doing it this way now though.
