I don't know what my situation will be with work so not sure when I'll be finishing. Last year I had a secure good permanent job but due to covid I was furloughed then made redundant, and have had to rely on temp admin roles since then. My current job is ideal in many ways but it's not very secure, it's on a rolling fixed term contract so I basically have to wait and see if they will renew me or not. I feel a bit bitter about it but if this is the worst we have had to experience due to covid then I can live with it. We knew last year when my job was affected I may not get mat pay/leave by the time I got pregnant.

I will get maternity allowance though and I was thinking of working until 2 weeks before due date on 27th Oct but I guess I'll have to see how uncomfortable I am!!

On a lighter note yesterday I picked up a standard tuna Mayo sandwich from Asda and I have literally become obsessed with it to the point where I'm seriously considering going back today to buy a few. Grin

Trying to think if I was this weird before pregnancy Grin

my sister went overdue by 2 weeks with her first so i am worried that will be the same for me

I'm thinking the same @Kona84! I'm hoping I can work until 38w if I feel well enough, then use a fortnight of annual leave and start mat leave from my due date.

Rmka · 11/05/2021 15:40

@Kona84, I'm also wondering about that. First time mums are more likely to be overdue. It would be so much easier if we knew in advance Wink

Just had my 16 week appointment and heard the heartbeat. Never fails to reassure me!
Any idea why she checked my pulsr same time - curious lol?

Rmka · 12/05/2021 17:45

@Juicytoot287, my guess is to make sure she's not listening to your heartbeat by mistake?

Rmka · 12/05/2021 17:49

And I'm glad your baby is well :)

mooloop · 12/05/2021 17:59

Aww lovely @Juicytoot287! My appt is tomorrow morning, hoping I can listen to baby's heartbeat too. I haven't heard it once yet, only ever seen it on the scans!

Juicytoot287 · 12/05/2021 18:11

Thanks ladies

@mooloop I had only heard it at private scans but she let me record it too to play for my partner which I am really happy about.

I know what you mean, I felt reassured to hear the heartbeat at appt. Shame we don't get to go weeklyGrin

mooloop · 12/05/2021 18:24

@Juicytoot287 aww that's good that they let you record it, I was going to ask that Smile

Juicytoot287 · 12/05/2021 18:52

@missreginafalange I know! But once the kicks start it will be easier that way as well. Just all happening so quick, first 12 weeks lasted forever!

Cpr12 · 12/05/2021 20:18

@missreginafalange I have an appointment pretty much every week, either scan or Doppler, yet still it doesn’t feel enough haha! By the next day I am like, why do I feel fine haha!

@juicytoot287 yes, I just want movement! Hate not feeling anything. So lovely they let you record it. I actually asked at a scan last week if I could take pics on my phone and they said no, they would print me some off. The obstetrician even offered to take extra pictures on my phone for me while they were doing the scan too. So nice of them and my husband was so happy when I came home with them!

Cpr12 · 12/05/2021 20:22

@pixiedust21 that is really tough, I hope they renew your contract and you don’t have to worry! COVID has just been so terrible 😞 on your other point, I totally obsess over meals for a few days at a time. 2 weeks ago it was falafel from a local shop, only that kind with tabbouleh and last week it was Greek salad. Who knows what next 😂

Haha it's true what the say isn't it, it gives you comfort until it's over and then you worry until
the next time! Grin

Kona84 · 12/05/2021 21:08

Is anyone feeling movements yet?
I’m 17weeks 3 days and don’t think I’ve felt anything yet.

Cpr12 · 12/05/2021 21:17

@missreginafalange yup!

@kona84 I thought I felt a flutter at 15 weeks, now 18 and not felt a thing since. Hoping in the next week or two!

Missreginafalange · 12/05/2021 21:32

@Cpr12 is this your first? You'll find you get the old bubbles and feelings which you think could be baby or just your body, it's nice when they are big enough to know for sure!!

mooloop · 12/05/2021 21:37

@Kona84 I sometimes wonder if I'm feeling movement but I have no idea so it's probably something else 😂 I'm only 15+4 so seems unlikely 🤔

Cpr12 · 12/05/2021 21:46

@Missreginafalange I didn’t feel any movement before I lost my son, so technically yes it will be my first experience of this 😍 Reading online 20 weeks seems to be the norm, is that your experience?

Rmka · 13/05/2021 03:05

@Kona84, I'm 17 weeks+6 and I think I do. I described what I feel to my mum and few friends who have babies and they said it's definitely movements. But who knows? Regardless, there is still plenty of time to feel them :)

@cpr12, I hope you feel the movements and reassured soon Flowers

My hospital doesn't let anyone record scans but my partner is allowed to come with me so we're lucky.

Is anyone also so receptive to tasty smells? I was in the corridor of my block of flat yesterday and someone's lunch smelled so good, so I got sad that I can't just knock on the door and ask for some. I probably shouldn't have told my husband who was cooking us lunch at the same time 😂

Btw, in the second trimester I sleep so much worse (like I am awake now), but still have more energy. How is that possible?

whitershadeofpale · 13/05/2021 03:27

@Rmka me too, 👋🏻 from the wide awake club. I’ve not been getting to sleep before 4 for the last week or 2. I sometimes have an afternoon nap though (the perks of working from home).

Rmka · 13/05/2021 10:39

@whitershadeofpale, sorry you're struggling to sleep too. Naps are a lifesaver, hopefully it will pass :)
Although in few months we'll all be awake for a different reason Wink

Missreginafalange · 13/05/2021 11:03

@Cpr12 sorry to hear about your loss x

Yeah I would say so, you will get the odd bubble or flip flop before that and think oh is it?? Haha and it probably is as once you then get them regularly you'll know it's baby

I've started getting flip flops and bubbles about 2 weeks ago (am 19 weeks now). But last time took longer as I had an anterior placenta so that makes a difference in what you can feel and when too x
