@AdriannaP
@ComebackQueen

I think it's just us at the moment (sorry if I forgot anyone) but hoping that more and more of us will be joining soon!
I figured it would be nice to stay in touch here too, throughout the exciting yet nerve-wracking next stages! 💞

How are you getting on? 🙂

@Bizawit When I found out at 4 weeks exactly, I couldn't fathom how I would manage to wait until I'm in the second trimester, it felt like an eternity away! And then BAM 💥 the symptoms started and I slept most of the day, felt like crap while awake and time just flew!

I thought my symptoms had reduced but I'm SO nauseous today! 🤢

OP posts:
AdriannaP · 02/04/2021 19:56

@Bizawit spotting was very stressful, I imagined the start of a MC and cried and hardly dared to move. Thankfully it was only one occasion so I hope everything is still well.

My symptoms got much better around week 13/14 I still get evening sickness weirdly enough and sometimes vomit after dinner (sorry for tmi).

Bizawit · 02/04/2021 21:00

@AdriannaP oh gosh you poor thing. I can imagine how awful/ stressful that was, especially given everything you have been through. So glad it was only once and has stopped. Hope you can take it easy over Easter and recuperate.

I had/ (have?) a sensitive cervix , so every time anything got anywhere near it last pregnancy it set off bleeding and always made me panic. I think that’s one of the most common reasons for 2nd and 3rd tri bleeding?

Sending love ❤️

Bizawit · 02/04/2021 21:01

Sorry to hear you guys are both still nauseated!! I’m hoping since mine started early , it will finish early , but not sure that’s how it works? 🤔😂

eloiseislost · 02/04/2021 21:08

@Bizawit That might be the case for you, who knows! Mine started at around 5 weeks and they are still here, though the past week or so I get the odd good day that lulls me into a false sense of security! 😄 It's all worth it! 💓🌈

Hello! How’s everyone doing? Hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend. I’m really in the thick of the first trimester over here. All I want to do is eat, vomit and nap! I’m worried I’m overeating because it’s the only thing that alleviates the nausea 😩.

@AdriannaP how are you getting on? ❤️

eloiseislost · 06/04/2021 19:30

@Bizawit Aw you poor thing! I've put on so much weight due to the nausea -nothing works apart from stuffing my face with carbs! 🍞 🍝 🥖
Just go with it, that's what my midwife said. Once you're past that stage, you'll be able to better control what and how much you eat. Right now you have to do whatever it takes to feel better! 😘

Had a busy Easter weekend, we are moving house tomorrow! So stressful, I know I am looking at a few weeks of being unsettled, which I hate. But our new home will be the home we bring our baby to, that's what I try to focus on! 💕

OP posts:
AdriannaP · 07/04/2021 13:43

Hi @Bizawit don’t worry! You have to eat/do whatever makes you feel better. I was the same!
I started to feel better from week 13/14.

I am now 15+5 and seeing the midwife again on Friday. I have a high BMI already and I dread the weigh in. They are keen that I don’t gain too much weight.

In my first pregnancy I saw a new midwife when I was 7 months and she told me I should not have gained any weight in pregnancy 🙄 what a cow. I cried afterwards. I only gained 8kg in my first pregnancy and lost 5-6 after giving birth (baby plus placenta and water etc). Anyway I feel rather stressed about the weigh ins.

I also lost my job in January (and a 15k maternity package 😭😢) so I am job hunting too which is stressful and affecting my self confidence. Of course I can hide my pregnancy on zoom calls but worried how they will react once I actually start a new job....
@eloiseislost hope moving goes well, don’t do too much yourself and try not to get stressed! Are you moving into a bigger place?

eloiseislost · 10/04/2021 06:59

Congratulations on your BFP @Remembermee 🎉
Wishing you a healthy, happy pregnancy! ❤️
Please feel free to join us here if you want. 🙂

How's everyone?
We are finally in our new home and I'm in love! Unpacking is a total nightmare but so, so worth it!
I can't wait to start on the nursery in July/August! 💕

AdriannaP · 10/04/2021 08:59

Congratulations @Remembermee! 🥰🥳🥳

I had my 16 weeks check yesterday, all well, I heard a nice heartbeat and baby was moving a but whrn the midwife was trying to find the heartbeat. I can feel the baby sometimes now, not a lot yet and very irregular.
I am also hopefully getting a 6 months contract for some consultancy work, which would be very well paid and a big relief after I lost my job in Jan. Hoping everything will come through next week!!
@eloiseislost remind me please - are you taking your second vaccine?

AdriannaP · 10/04/2021 09:01

@eloiseislost with my DD we didn’t have a nursery until she was 6 months or so 🤣😅
Don’t think we will have one for this baby either as we’d have to move our DD to the spare room first and won’t have time before the birth.

Bizawit · 10/04/2021 09:35

@eloiseislost congratulations on your new home!!! It must be exhausting unpacking etc, but at least you are now in 🥰🥰.

@AdriannaP that’s such wonderful news about the 16 week check up. I forgot they listened to the heartbeat that early, and amazing you can feel the baby move already 😍😍. It must give you so much comfort.

I’ve been a little quite because I am still so sick. Vomiting several times a day and a constant feeling of nausea. I haven’t been able to work, or get out or anything. I hope this doesn’t last long. I’m only 7 weeks tomorrow 🙈. I’m thinking of maybe booking an early scan for 8 weeks..

@rememberme congratulations 🥰. Amazing lines for 10/11DPO

eloiseislost · 10/04/2021 10:00

@AdriannaP I want the second dose but I got the first one through work (NHS) just before I got pregnant. Since getting pregnant midwife advised to wait until after birth to take the second. I would like to have the second dose ASAP but our vaccination centres at work do not administer vaccine to pregnant women. I would have to go through GP but the GP won't do it because I'm a healthcare worker and I should be getting it through work! 🤷🏻‍♀️ It's a mess isn't it? 😄

My 16 week appointment will be over the phone, which sucks so much! 😞

@Bizawit Sorry about the vomiting and nausea, you must be exhausted! But, on the bright side, these are good signs that your wee baby is growing! ❤️ I loved all my early scans (I had 2 and a NIPT+scan before the NHS dating scan) the baby grew from a dot, to a chicken nugget, to a tiny human! 😍

Week 14 now and I get the odd feeling of nausea throughout the day, but nothing like how I used to be. I also seem to have much more energy -I unpacked and deep cleaned the entire ground floor in two days! A couple of weeks ago I could do nothing all day except watch Grey's Anatomy and eat crisps. 😄
However, I keep panicking that the effort of unpacking, cleaning, lifting boxes will hurt the baby, what do you think? 🤔

Hi ladies

Welcome to the new additions so lovely seeing the thread grow with success stories.

@eloiseislost congratulations on the house move, and hope your nausea is subsiding.

I’m currently on zofran (did it originally at hospital via a cannula and fluids) now taking in melts and it’s taking the edge off.

Wanted to just moan about my midwife at st Mary’s, unsympathetic and awful at the booking in appointment.

My GP and hospital are the only ones that are actually doing something to help my dehydration and symptoms.

Anyone else find their midwife is bad? I hope I’m alone in this as it’s not nice to think the person you’re going to depend on for the during of pregnancy is useless.

She was like she’s seen worse cases of HG, that may be true but I would still like a little bit of sympathy and support even if it’s just a ‘poor you’.

Hope everyone had a lovely Easter and let’s hope we all breeze the remaining months of our pregnancies!!!

Bizawit · 10/04/2021 19:00

@ComebackQueen oh no sorry to hear your midwife is horrible- what a rude and insensitive thing to say. Can you ask to switch? One diplomatic way is just to say that you are not available on the same days any more- chances are if you switch days you may get a different midwife- that was my experience anyway.

I keep forgetting to ring the GP and tell them I am pregnant 🙈. Should probably do so.

I’m starting to worry I might be developing HG. What it is like for you @ComebackQueen? I’ve had a couple of days where I can’t keep anything down and I’ve just had to lie motionless in bed all day to try to stave off the vomiting..

@eloiseislost aww sounds like you should take it easy with the heavy lifting! I’m sure it won’t hurt the baby, but you might end up pulling a muscle in your back or something. Pregnancy hormones loosen the muscles so make it easier to have accidents..

ComebackQueen · 10/04/2021 19:17

@Bizawit great idea by saying I’m unavailable to get a new midwife, I can’t imagine having her for the duration.

Don’t mean to alarm you but that’s how it started for me, not being able to keep food down over a 48 hour period, this then had me going to hospital and the dreaded ketone test. I couldn’t leave the bed let alone brush my teeth or shower. The physical aspects though are nothing to how mentally low I started becoming, I contemplated a termination even though I’m almost 40 and have longed for this baby.

The more dehydrated you are the more you vomit. Please do get yourself to your GP just to be on the safe side, they’ll be able to do a quick urine test and take it from there.

I was +4 ketones which apparently is bad, the longer you’re unable to keep anything down the worse it gets and they also said my cramps and spotting could have been from my severe dehydration.

Take care of yourself and don’t let it get worse, the earlier you get on medication the better it’ll be.

Janefx40 · 10/04/2021 21:55

@ComebackQueen @Bizawit I'm so sorry you are struggling with HG. My best friend had this 3 times and it is so horrendous. There are some good support networks. She had a buddy through a Hg group that really helped. She also sent me this advice for another friend as it took her until her second pregnancy to learn about the "good drugs"

This is the message she sent me for her other friend:

Ondansetron is the generic. The brand name is Zofran. Metoclopramide is the other drug I took / take. It also works on nausea and is cheaper / easily given

You can get wafers that dissolve on the tongue and it acts on the nausea receptors. Not a cure but takes the edge off.

She also recommends talking to these people if you haven’t www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

Just to have a conversation. They are very supportive and have a GP you can talk to too. It is run by a nurse who had HG herself and she has pushed for treating nausea as serious not only vomiting!

ComebackQueen · 11/04/2021 12:38

@Janefx40

How very kind of you to share that information, I looks like with me being on Zofran, that is a winner then.

I’ll definitely check out the link provided as well, I’ve just found these anti sickness tablets have given me horrendous constipation so I sometimes, for a split second, debate do I want to poop or stop the sickness, the latter always wins lol.

Thank you and hopefully Biz finds it useful too.

Janefx40 · 11/04/2021 18:13

Hi @ComebackQueen glad you already have Zofran. My friend moved away from the UK 5 years ago so hopefully it is easier to get now. She had a huge battle for it at the time. Hope it passes soon. She has 3 amazing kids and says it was worth it!!

Remembermee · 11/04/2021 18:41

Thanks everyone for inviting me to the graduates 🎉

Congratulations to everyone here too!

I have been pretty calm about all this, surprisingly. I think I am 3 weeks 5 days. So still very early.

I have been worried this afternoon though. My pregnancy symptoms have mainly been these 3; getting cold very easily, needing a wee constantly, and cramps in the general area that have been pretty constant.
Today some of these symptoms are less severe. Not needing the loo as much and pain being a bit different.
I’m wondering now about ectopic. I tracked my BBT and I can see an implantation dip. I assume that is when it burrows down inside. If I had an ectopic surely that would suggest no implantation dip? If you get me?

Bluey18 · 18/04/2021 18:49

Hello all, I hope everyone is doing well. I've been knocked flat with sickness which was a shock because I only ever had mild nausea with DD. On medication to try and ease it, but it's only just touching the sides. Have my scan a week from Weds when I'll be 11+3, very excited and nervous. Much love to you all xx

eloiseislost · 18/04/2021 19:38

@Remembermee How are you getting on? I think every woman worries about ectopic (if she knows what it is!) but the thing to remember is that it is rare. Implantation dip on BBT wouldn't exclude ectopic, as the pregnancy still implants -just not in the right place.
Unless you develop bleeding and severe abdominal pain and/or shoulder tip pain, I wouldn't worry. I'm sure everything will be just fine! I know how worrying those first few weeks are, and the worrying never really stops -but it does get easier. 🙂

@Bluey18 Sorry to hear about your sickness, hopefully the second trimester will be kinder to you! My nausea really eased after 14 weeks but I still get the odd day, especially if I'm tired, where it's all coming back! 🤢 All totally worth it though! 💞

15+2 today, I think I now have a wee bump -or maybe it's ALL the carbs I've eaten! 🤷🏻‍♀️
Either way, I'm thankful for maternity jeans! 😆

@eloiseislost wow you look amazing! Just a teeny bump which is how I looked before I was even pregnant! haha

Thanks for your comments on the ectopic. I had come to the same conclusions haha. I'm struggling with UTIs. I've had 2 and over the weekend when no one is prepared to help. I had to use the out of hours service and got a call back with a "message" from the doctor saying UTIs don't need antibiotics. Ridiculous. Fortunately I had a prescription from the week before which I hadn't "cashed in" and was able to use that.
I have my first midwife apt on the 25th May. Seems like miles away.
I also emailed the fertility clinic to let them know and the secretary said that since we were about to start IVF we should call the Nurse advice line - leave a msg and someone will get back the same day. No one did.
I emailed the secretary again but apparently there is a log of a nurse who called me last week!! Seeing as I had no missed calls this does not fill me with confidence. Anyway to cut a long story short I got to talk with a nurse today who said everything is now up to my GP and that's that. When I explained about hubby being on meds she said he had to go to his GP. I had to explain to her that it was the fertility clinic that was prescribing him the meds.
Oh the whole thing is so frustrating and really does not fill me with confidence over the next 8 months!
I'm 4w6d today.
I'm also looking at my house and wondering how we are going to fit baby in!!! Hmm

eloiseislost · 19/04/2021 22:54

@Remembermee Oh, UTIs are very common in pregnancy -especially if you've already been prone to them before. Have you spoken to your GP about it? Also, I don't know how things work where you are, but in my area, I can contact the midwives directly, bypassing the GP. I hope you are feeling better!
The situation with the fertility clinic sounds SO frustrating! And I know with your first midwife appointment still a few weeks away, you must be feeling very unsettled. I'll tell you what my friend, who had her baby in November, said to me: during the first half of the pregnancy it's like nobody really cares about it but you, but, after that, you get so much more attention and input.
Time seems to stand still now but, honestly, before you know it you'll be in the second trimester, getting bigger every day! 😄
And houses are like hearts ❤️ inside them there's always space for those we truly love. 😉

OP posts:
Remembermee · 20/04/2021 09:14

@eloiseislost I'm in Birmingham. Where about are you? I did think that I would have a midwife to contact so was pretty put out to discover I don't even make contact until end of May. I feel somewhat wobbly about it all as I think I am high risk. I'm 41, have complex mental health issues and i need confirmation I can have a planned C section (my GP said it would be very reasonable to expect a planned c-section but of course she can't control it).
I think your friend is so right about how no one is interested until later in the pregnancy!
Love what you said about always space for those we love!
I see my GP every 3 weeks anyway and my next appointment is next week so I'm going to have a lot to talk about with her I guess! I'm not prone to UTI's normally but it's sure looking like I am now I'm pregnant!
