@AdriannaP
@ComebackQueen

I think it's just us at the moment (sorry if I forgot anyone) but hoping that more and more of us will be joining soon!
I figured it would be nice to stay in touch here too, throughout the exciting yet nerve-wracking next stages! 💞

How are you getting on? 🙂

That’s amazing news @Makingnumber2 🤩🤩🥳🥳🥳. Perfect progression.
Also glad to hear they are looking after you / monitoring so well xxx

ComebackQueen · 01/05/2021 19:08

@Bizawit aww bless you I’m glad you’ve been given some medication to help.

I’m currently still on zofran and metoclopramide both taken three times a day.

The medication has caused awful constipation which resulted in my doctor, a latex glove and lube, I won’t say too much more....

Hopefully the medication works for you as zofran has been the only thing that works most days to keep sickness at bay, does nothing for the nausea though.

I’ve finally gained some weight in the pregnancy. I had actually lost weight due to the HG but now I’m actually putting the weight back on I lost and some, which I can credit zofran for as I’ve been able to ear again.

So lovely to see everyone is progressing nicely in the various stages of their respective pregnancies.

I hope the bank holiday is a lovely one for all!

AdriannaP · 01/05/2021 20:48

Great to see so many good news.

I am 19 weeks now, feel ok just constantly tired. I have gained 3kg and feel massive already (had high BMI before). Already needed to buy new bras. Will need to watch the weight gain in the next months!

Had to start a new job (lost mine in January), salary is great as it’s a contract but it’s super exhausting and demanding. I need to pull through as need the extra money for my maternity leave.
I can feel baby most days (and have been for about 2-3 weeks) so that’s quite nice and reassuring. We won’t find out the gender.

eloiseislost · 03/05/2021 10:58

@AdriannaP I'm right behind you, 17+3 today! Haven't felt her move yet, at least I don't think I have, so waiting impatiently for that! 🤞🏼
I've gained 6kg so far 😱 so your 3kg sounds very good, given that you're basically half way through now!
Congratulations on the new job, must be a relief to be able to budget more comfortably for your mat leave! Shame about being an exhausting and demanding job, but days go by quicker when you're busy, which I find helps in pregnancy.

Oh exciting @eloiseislost lie very still in the mornings and evenings that’s when you have the best chance IME. I think I felt my first pregnancy around 18w.

Well I already have a high BMI so 3kg feels like 10 atm. My bump is really showing now and my breasts have grown so much. The last trimester is when you gain most weight so will try and do more excercise etc. Still can’t believe I am nearly half way. What a journey it has been! (And still is of course)

Bizawit · 04/05/2021 09:09

Oh wow @ComebackQueen what a nightmare 😳. I’ve also been suffering a lot from constipation without the meds, so that does not sound good.. glad you are managing to put some weight on finally. How far along are you?

@AdriannaP can’t believe you are almost halfway 🤩🤩🤩. When is your 20 week scan? Such a big milestone..

@Makingnumber2 hope all is still going well xx

Makingnumber2 · 04/05/2021 16:06

Gosh @ComebackQueen you poor thing you're going through the mill a bit! I really hope you catch a break soon and can have a glorious few weeks of no sickness or constipation!

Exciting times for you guys @AdriannaP and @eloiseislost- getting so close to that wonderful 20 week milestone. My jealousy is off the scale- time seems to be going so slowly atm it could be going backwards!

All ok my end thank you @Bizawit- well at least I think so. Still very few symptoms which is stressing me out- bit of nausea here and there but usually only when I think about how few symptoms I have so think maybe that's psychosomatic and more anxiety induced?! Back to EPU Thurs for scan and more bloods and I did refer myself over to midwife team and have my booking appointment for a month's time, just hoping I make it that far! Last time I had my booking appointment then had the scan 2 days later which confirmed it wasn't a viable pregnancy. Fingers crossed for better luck next time! And just to add to my fun and games I applied for a job (before I got my BFP) and interview is Thursday morning. If the pregnancy works out I won't be able to take it if I am offered it, so feeling a bit overwhelmed by all that too. Lots of what ifs! In some ways it might be a relief not to get it so the decision is made for me, but I keep thinking what if they offer it- should I take it and then reject weeks down the line if things do work out with the pregnancy or what?? Bit of a minefield. How are you getting on? Which week are you upto now?

ComebackQueen · 05/05/2021 13:10

@Bizawit I’m just gone 13 weeks now, had my scan and everything appears as it should, want to find out the gender at the end of the month now. Law of averages based on my family and husband’s is that it will be a boy. We have one boy out of seven girls on my side out of us siblings and we have zero boys on husbands side. Plus I checked this Chinese prediction calculator and it says boy, so I’ll soon find out hehehehe.

@Makingnumber2 thank you, I’m hoping to catch a break too, midwife thinks between 16-20 weeks sickness will start to abate if not it might be until I go into Labour.

Slightly off topic but due to my vaginismus I am wanting a C section but midwife dismissed me at booking in appointment so I want to know, has anyone been brave enough to get their midwife to agree or know someone that has?
I feel like I’m on egg shells with my midwife, everything I do or say is wrong.

Makingnumber2 · 05/05/2021 17:32

So pleased your scan well well @ComebackQueen and you never know- it might be another girl to add to the girl gang?! But either way they'll be a gorgeous blessing Smile
RE: your vaginismus and midwife... your midwife doesn't sound great in terms of bedside manner if she's made you feel like you're doing anything wrong. Unless you're verbally abusing her or missing appointments without contacting then I do'nt think you can have done anything wrong at all. You're absolutely right and entitled to discuss your options and request an option that's best for you.
I absolutely think you should continue to push for the birth choice you want- you have a right to choose how you birth and you have a very valid medical reason for requesting it.
I hope you don't mind me saying/suggesting this but as vaginismus is sometimes treated as psychosexual issue could you ask to be transferred over to your perinatal team? I suspect they will be far more sympathetic and helpful.

Bizawit · 06/05/2021 16:51

@Makingnumber2 oh gosh what a lot going on for you today! How was the interview and the bloods/ scan. So hoping everything went well today ❤️❤️.

@ComebackQueen congratulations for passing the first trimester!! That must feel amazing 🤩🤩. So sorry about your awful midwife though. To be honest I would just see if you can switch, it’s awful to have to deal with someone you don’t feel comfortable with. It is absolutely your right to have the birth you want - I’m sure NICE guidelines say so. And vaginismus is an absolutely valid reason for requesting a elective c section- my friend had one for exactly the same reason. I think usually they don’t start asking about north preferences until much later down the line 🤔 (well into the third tri if I remember right?) so that may be part of the reason the midwife was able to be so dismissive ? (not that that’s acceptable!) but the conversation will absolutely come up again and I would insist on talking it through with a more senior midwife if she acts the same. Getting a referral to the perinatal MH team might be a really good idea, they can advocate on your behalf.

Bizawit · 06/05/2021 17:04

I went for my harmony blood tests today and had my first viability scan. Finally!! I was beside myself with anxiety , but all was well. FHR of 179 and baby very active. They dated me 10+6 but I know I’m really 10+4 (I guess there’s no fooling us SI ladies about exactly when we conceived 😂). So relieved. Blood test results coming in 2 weeks 🤞🏻🤞🏻.

AdriannaP · 06/05/2021 17:21

@Bizawit congratulations 🥳 beyond thrilled for you. My week 2 starts tomorrow so nearly halfway there 😳

AdriannaP · 06/05/2021 17:23

Congratulations @ComebackQueen to you too!
Sorry to hear about your midwife- usually birth choices are discussed later, but if this worries you I would also try and switch.

Makingnumber2 · 06/05/2021 18:31

Oh wow @Bizawit what fab scan pics!! So pleased everything looking great in there and that cute little bean is very much looking like a baby! I think my daughters HR was around 175-180 so I wonder if your Harmony results will come back with girl... I hope the results show everything is looking fine from the bloods side too.

So, I have officially been discharged from EPU because they saw a gestational sac in uterus with a yolk sac and said it measured around 5 weeks. I had dated myself as 5w3d max so that is reassuring our dates seem to be marrying up. I've booked a private scan for end of the month when I'll be 8.5 weeks (by hospital's dates) and it feels like forever to wait. The sonographer said sometimes the EPU offer reassurance scans so it's worth an ask but I shouldn't imagine they will actually agree to one. Not sure if I'll bother trying to push for one- feel a bit bad to when I can afford to pay the £45 for the private one.
Job interview went relatively well- but won't hear if I'm through to next stage until tomorrow morning.

Bizawit · 06/05/2021 19:43

Thanks so much both ☺️. @AdriannaP congratulations on reaching half way 😍😍.

@Makingnumber2 that’s wonderful news , both on the job interview and the scan 🤩. I don’t think you should feel guilty at all about asking EPU for an early reassurance scan. Might as well ask!

Everyone is guessing another girl haha. I’d love another one- already have a name picked out and everything 😜.

primrosechill · 06/05/2021 20:59

Hello ladies, I think I'm getting ready to join this thread 🥰

Technically my bfp is a result of IVF and not SI but as a long standing member of the SI club, I hope you'll have me ;)

I've had positives since last Friday and I had my bloods done on Tuesday at 4+1 weeks (in my estimations) and hcg was at 124 so within norm. I have a scan booked with my ivf clinic in 2.5 weeks time next to make sure it's viable - I am so excited but a part of me also doesnt believe it's happening. Having had a loss before, I am very anxious and will just try to keep myself occupied.

No real symptoms yet other than peeing loads and maybe just being a bit more tired.

@Makingnumber2 excellent news about your scan today ❤️ looks like you're about 8 days ahead of me

Hope everyone else is doing well!! Excited to be here xxx

Makingnumber2 · 06/05/2021 21:02

Lovely to have you over here @primrosechill! Bring on our January 🌈💕

Bluey18 · 06/05/2021 21:10

I'm sorry for the lack of posting ladies, I'm still incredibly ill (come on placenta, kick in already 😪🤣). I'm now down as higher risk so consultant led but I'm taking it as a positive as more scans to see baby. 12+4 today and I could swear I feel little flickers of movement which is shocking to me as I was well over 20 weeks before I felt anything with DD.

Just want to send big congrats hugs to @primrosechill I'm over the moon to hear your news ❤❤. Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months xx

And delighted to hear you both had good scans @Makingnumber2 and @Bizawit. That's a beautiful scan photo Bizawit 😊

AdriannaP · 07/05/2021 06:10

@Makingnumber2 congratulations 🎉! Just ask them and say it has been mentioned to you. I had one at the Hospital at 7 weeks and 11 I think. (Because of my history).
All the best for the job interview too.
My next scan is on Thursday when I am nearly 21 weeks. I might pay for a private scan after that so my daughter could come too.

@primrosechill I am so thrilled you are here. Congratulations 🥳 🌈🥰

@Bluey18 hope you feel better soon. I felt better after around week 14. I am also consultant led, doesn’t mean anything just more scans. With my DD I didn’t have a consultant at birth.

Apart from @eloiseislost does anyone know the sex of the baby? We probably won’t find out, I love the surprise 😅

primrosechill · 07/05/2021 07:45

Thank you for the warm welcome ladies ❤️❤️❤️

@Bluey18 sorry you've been feeling so unwell, hope you get to rest loads and feel better very soon!

Some of you ladies must be about halfway through already? @AdriannaP @eloiseislost @ComebackQueen ? I have loads of catching up to do and can't quite remember how long it's been since each of you left the "undergraduate" thread ☺️

I'm in the obsessive poas phase - my cheapie tests have been still too light for my liking for the past couple of times but today I got a strong one. I know it doesn't mean absolutely anything but it does make me feel somewhat more confident that things are moving in the right direction. I think I will do one more in two days to see if I can get a dye stealer and I will stop torturing myself after. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

primrosechill · 07/05/2021 07:53

@Makingnumber2 when is your due date according to your calculation? Is it around 2nd/3rd Jan?

@ComebackQueen I also suffer from vaginismus so will be listening to your story intently to see what you decide to do and how it goes ❤️ I'm anxious about this but need to handle one thing at a time: first trimester fears first, THEN the big question about the birth...

Bluey18 · 07/05/2021 07:54

@AdriannaP Thank you for the reassurance, I really hope I start to turn a corner at 14 weeks too, this is new territory for me, had only mild nausea with DD. I hope you enjoy your private scan with your daughter if you get one. In my opinion there's no comparison, the private scans are so much more relaxed and a much better experience Smile. I'm very torn about finding out gender! I think I'll decide when I'm over 20 weeks and if I do I'll get a private scan (my hospital will not tell).

@primrosechill I won't tell you to step away from the sticks because I didn't but what I will say is I found cheapies absolutely rubbish for progression and I never got a dye stealer off them. I think the last time I tried was 7 weeks and still nope. Plus I was bleeding at the time so I convinced myself it was doomed. Nope, I'll be 13 weeks on Sunday, still very much pregnant. So don't worry if you don't see a dye stealer or even progression, they really aren't good for that 😊

Bizawit · 07/05/2021 13:22

@primrosechill ahhh so excited to see you here 🤩🤩🥳🥳. Brought a little tear to my eye. Your first round too- how amazing. That’s an absolutely fabulous line. ❤️

I’ve asked them to include the sex on the harmony test results 😬 so I guess I’ll know in the next two weeks! Last time I desperately wanted a girl tbh, but now I already have a DD, so will be thrilled either way. 🥰

eloiseislost · 07/05/2021 16:22

@primrosechill Congratulations lovely!!! 🎉❤️ This is an incredible line, especially for a cheapie! 🤩

Got the letter for my 20-week scan, it's on the 25th -which is also our wedding anniversary! 😬 The nerves are crippling, last night I kept waking up from weird dreams: for example, I saw that I was being scanned and the sonographer has a look and says "no baby here, just pasta and chocolate" 😱🤣

OP posts:
primrosechill · 08/05/2021 08:48

@Bluey18 "step away from the sticks" should be the number one mantra of mumsnet 😆 I did resist the urge today! As someone said on the other thread, poas-ing every day is not going to change the outcome of what's to come so I might as well try to keep myself sane-ish and limit it.

@Bizawit how exciting that you'll know the sex soon, will you tell anyone else or are you and your partner keeping it to yourselves?

@eloiseislost hahahaha your dream about pasta and chocolate filled belly made me laugh so much. Pretty sure there is an actual human being in there though ;) and what a lovely way to celebrate your anniversary, too. How many years have you been married? I will have my scan on the 26th so a day after you - they were hoping to fit me in the week before so it's in week 6 but looks like they were all booked, so it will be early in week 7 instead. That is when I lost my first pregnancy so I really hope that the little marble sticks around and I get to see them on the screen ❤️

Hope everyone is having a lovely start to the weekend. It's drizzly and grey where I am so we're having a lazy morning, eating breakfast in bed and watching some films 🥰
