@AdriannaP
@ComebackQueen

I think it's just us at the moment (sorry if I forgot anyone) but hoping that more and more of us will be joining soon!
I figured it would be nice to stay in touch here too, throughout the exciting yet nerve-wracking next stages! 💞

How are you getting on? 🙂

Congrats @Bluey18! So happy for your healthy arrival ❤️

@Makingnumber2 sorry to hear you've been feeling so grumpy/uncomfortable - is it just the general size of thr bump or do you have any other annoying symptoms?

I've turned 33 weeks today and still have quite a bit to do to prepare for the baby so I do hope she doesn't decide to arrive TOO early 😂 but I'm so excited to meet her when she does...

Remembermee · 12/12/2021 16:01

Hi everyone. So my boys were booked to be delivered on the 1st Dec at 37 and a half weeks. But I got a call a few weeks before this saying my bloods had come back abnormal and I had to be admitted. Apparently it was an unusual kind of preeclampsia - no protein in urine, no high blood pressure, but the bloods were deteriorating.
I was in hospital for a few days when I got 30 mins notice of going down to theatre to get the babies. I was 36 weeks exactly.
I have to say that the whole process was extraordinarily traumatic because I became so ill and haemorrhaged too. The preeclampsia didn't clear up straight away and I got iller afterwards. It's only now my bloods are returning to normal - kidney and liver function.

Anyway, the boys are here safely. They weighed just over 4 lbs each. Non identical and they love to be together even though they were in their own sacs. The youngest one was born in his sac! They're pretty good but I'm struggling at night with them if they're crying.

Recovery is slow from the c section probably because I've been so ill.

I have to have those blood thinning injections every night. I HATE them. They hurt so much. Anyone know how to do them so that they don't hurt? I've YouTubed it and everything but still really hurts.

Just wanted to update you all. The boys are now 3 weeks old exactly :)

ComebackQueen · 12/12/2021 16:19

@Remembermee

Congratulations on the safe arrival of the twins, very sorry to hear of the traumatic experience and slow recovery.

I wish you a speedy and pain free recovery and hope that you are basking in the new born baby glow.

I did the injections in my thigh but you can’t really minimise the stinging pain and I say this as someone with a high tolerance to pain usually,

What a lovely early Xmas present 🎁

Makingnumber2 · 12/12/2021 18:00

Oh wow @Remembermee huge congratulations on the arrival of your twin boys! I'm so sorry to hear the birth was so traumatic and that you've been so poorly. Post natal period is tough enough as it is with a singleton baby, let alone twins and let alone with all the complications you've had too. I really hope you have lots of support from partner and family and that you're feeling much better soon. You are superwoman to have been through all that!
Sorry I have no real tips re: the injections- the only thing I can think of would be to see if you can purchase some numbing cream from the pharmacy? I think it's called emla or similar. Not sure if it's the entry of the needle or the actual injection of the fluid in syringe that's the worst part though as the cream would only numb topically and I don't think it would stop any stinging as the fluid enters. Potentially you could try icing the area beforehand to see if that achieves a deeper numbing?
Sending you lots of healing vibes and perhaps think about booking a birth reflections appointment when you feel ready with the postnatal care team at the hospital- most trusts in England offer these. It can be helpful to talk through what happened, why etc. Flowers

Makingnumber2 · 12/12/2021 18:02

Who else is still waiting on babies to arrive now on the thread? I've lost track a bit. @primrosechill I know you and I are close together on EDDs- how are you doing?

Remembermee · 12/12/2021 18:51

Thanks @comebackqueen and @makingnumber2.
I forgot to say we called them Archie and Hugo.

I've just been referred for the debrief of the birth etc. It's a 6 week wait I think. Not sure what to expect from it but I think it'll be worth doing. I felt quite traumatised for a while afterwards but I bought a nice note book and over the weeks I have written down what happened. From there I'llwrite about the boys and how they grow etc.
Some of the nurses and doctors were absolutely lovely. Some not so great. I was so hot all the time I needed jugs full of ice and some of the staff were kind enough to get it for me! Others just said there was non of available on that floor. We had a side room so that we could have the babies with us once I'd come out of HDU and off the A-line and IV.
I think I probably came home too early but I was eager to get to leave lol. I couldn't take morphine at home so I think that was a bit of mistake. But having said that I'm a lot better now than I was.

Thanks for the advice over the injections. I've tried numbing the area so I'm guessing it's inside that hurts - the stuff going in and the stinging afterwards. The only consolation is that I am half way through but oh dear I do hate it!

Here is a question that might seem very trite and self-absorbed.... but after 2 weeks I had lost my baby weight. Obviously my body doesn't look the same. My stomach is still swollen somewhat and there is swelling to the wound too. However, now that my stomach has shrunk and I can actually see things around there now, I can see I have a line that looks like a HUGE smile! And then it forms a kind of little pouch. Does it stay like that or will the pouch looking part disappear eventually?
Sorry for the silly question!

I realise how lucky we are to have these boys. They were 36 weeks and just look like normal babies in miniature.

ComebackQueen · 24/12/2021 11:27

Merry Christmas to all you lovely ladies.

Especially enjoy it for those who's bundles of sheer joy have already arrived and to the mummy’s to be, I wish you all the peace and sleep now in anticipation for the little ones arrival.

I hope we get some new recruits in the thread in 2022.

primrosechill · 29/12/2021 19:12

Hello ladies! It's been a while - congrats for all the new arrivals and hope everyone has had a wonderful break, with bubbas either still utero- or Earth-side :)

I thought I would also tag @bigsweetpotato in case she fancied joining - I saw on the other thread that she is just over 10weeks, whey congrats! 🎉

@Makingnumber2 how are you doing? If I'm not mistaken, your due date is less than a week away?

I'm still cookin' and currently at 38+3 so at this point it really is completely up to the little one when she decides to make an appearance! We've had a bit of a scare the past few weeks with me catching covid and the baby's growth slowing down in the utero but the placenta is still looking healthy and so are baby's vitals and movements so the doctors are confident she's still happy inside 🥰 might just be a slightly smaller baby when she finally "premieres" haha.

Big love to you all xx

Bizawit · 29/12/2021 21:25

Hello all. Congratulations @Remembermee 😍😍 hope you are getting on well with your new babas.
@primrosechill congratulations on making term!! So sorry about the covid. I’ve also had it the last couple of weeks and missed Christmas 😔, but so glad it’s over with now.

I’ve been meaning to update the thread that my baby girl was born 6 weeks ago, mid- November. She came a little early due to hypertension, but she’s healthy and perfect ☺️. Still in the newborn bubble, just enjoying all those baby cuddles.

Congratulations @bigsweetpotato 😍

ComebackQueen · 30/12/2021 09:28

@Bizawit congratulations, I hope you’re enjoying the newborn glow and cuddles.

So glad you’re over covid too, enjoy every moment!

primrosechill · 30/12/2021 09:54

Congrats on your new arrival @Bizawit, wonderful news ❤️

bigsweetpotato · 30/12/2021 10:38

Hello darlings! Thank you so much for tagging me! It's so great to see all your news and congrats on all your babies! Super happy for all of you considering all of our journeys. Great choices of names too.
I'm now 11 weeks+2 and my scan is on the 14th Jan once I'm back from Christmas break. Hopefully all is well but will update u guys then! X

Makingnumber2 · 31/12/2021 09:13

Hi all! And belated merry Christmas!
I am officially ‘overdue’ today- as I expected I would be- at 40+1. It isn’t a surprise but doesn’t make it any less bloody annoying 😂 not even a hint or a twinge this kid is planning an exit any time soon.

Congratulations @Bizawit on the birth of your little girl! Such lovely news.
And congratulations @bigsweetpotato!! You’re so nearly at end of first tri- very exciting!

Sorry to those of you who have been poorly with covid- hope you’re all feeling better now or will be very soon.
Definitely hoping for more new recruits on this thread come the new year.
@primrosechill any signs little one is making an exit any time soon?!

primrosechill · 31/12/2021 13:08

@Makingnumber2 not yet although I do get braxton hicks a lot and also we went for a scan yday and the doctor said her head is really low - but we'll see! Are you booked in for an induction just in case or not yet? X

Makingnumber2 · 31/12/2021 15:48

That’s great her head is so low @primrosechill - deffo a good sign!
No induction booked yet- will be wanting to avoid that like the absolute plague. Will ask midwife for a sweep tomorrow if my cervix is favourable but with DD they couldn’t do one when I was 40wks. So am prepared for fact it won’t be an option. Dd was 41+1- am hoping DS doesn’t make me wait that long but it’s a distinct possibility!

primrosechill · 02/01/2022 09:56

@Makingnumber2 did you manage to get the sweep done? Keeping everything crossed for you that the little one busts some moves asap!

I'm 39 today and same as you want to avoid induction as much as possible so hoping she will decide to grace us with her presence in the next two weeks 😆

Makingnumber2 · 02/01/2022 10:11

No- sadly not. The examination was so painful I had to ask midwife to stop before she had even managed to find my cervix 😩 she said my cervix was really far back still so in my mind that means it’s nowhere ready and therefore unlikely to have done any dilation. Bit of a bummer tbh although not unexpected because I can’t feel any pressure on my cervix at all only in my rectum. Now I’m worried baby is engaged and down but not at the angle he needs to be. Trying not to overthink it but it’s hard. Next appmt at 41wks on Thursday. Midwife’s advice to get things moving was orgasms (solo ones fine apparently!) and some light walking daily. Tomorrow is my original EDD before they did 12 wk scan so perhaps from tomorrow onwards my cervix might start doing more?!? 🤞🏻
In my trust they don’t book induction until around 41+4 or 5 I think from what I remember with DC1. So I’m sure your little one will make an appearance well before then and I even have hope still that my one will too!!

ComebackQueen · 02/01/2022 10:56

Aww @Makingnumber2

I hope everything starts moving for you shortly, try a hot curry, pineapple juice or castor oil?

Best of luck 🤞

Makingnumber2 · 02/01/2022 15:33

Thanks @ComebackQueen 😊 I’ve tried the hot curry and pineapple already! Think I’ll swerve the castor just because I’ve read it can cause baby to poop in waters and that’s obviously v dangerous for them and would mean high level birth intervention for me when labour does begin.
Feeling slightly less fed up today than yday at least- my DD goes back to nursery on Tues so with baby not here I will hopefully have a few days to myself to clean the house (or more likely watch Netflix and bounce on my yoga ball 😂)

primrosechill · 03/01/2022 18:19

@Makingnumber2 how's that netflix binging going for you? I start every day with ambitious plans of a long list of things to accomplish and usually am napping by 2pm 😆 I have to say the exhaustion has hit me HARD in the last weeks of pregnancy - I feel bad for being so unproductive but I also feel like that's silly: soon I'll have my hands full with the little one so I should probably enjoy the lazy days, however many of them I have left.

I also constantly go between wanting her to cook in there for a bit longer and wanting her to come out - I think starting tomorrow I might try to get back to my daily walk routine and maybe even have a curry at some point this week to see if any of it works for me!

Makingnumber2 · 04/01/2022 07:30

Netflix starts today once my DD is back at nursery! 🎉 although absolutely typically I’ve been up since 2.30 with constant period type pains. Sooo not sure how many days of Netflix I’m going to get.... I am probably being hugely optimistic and it means nothing and it’s just yet more braxton hicks. They feel like they’re dying off now. 5 hours is the longest I’ve had twinges going for though so hoping something could be happening?!

Yes the exhaustion in final few weeks is next level- just rest as much as you can and do light exercise once a day and yoga ball- don’t overdo it. And make the most of every lie in, every Netflix sesh, every hot cup of tea, every solo trip to the shops and solo toilet visit is my advice!!!

Makingnumber2 · 06/01/2022 04:15

Sooo Netflix and relaxation didn’t happen because baby arrived Tues 6pm! 8lb6oz- a relatively fast and very intense labour compared to my first! I just had time to get the Xmas
Tree down between contractions before heading to the hospital 😂 He’s doing really well- had mec in waters so unfortunately had to stay over for 12h of obs on him but we were home by 9.45 yday morning. 🥰

ComebackQueen · 06/01/2022 07:57

@Makingnumber2 aww congratulations!!! Glad to hear he is now home, what a lovely way to start the new year.

Blessings to you and your family xx

Remembermee · 06/01/2022 08:41

@Makingnumber2 congratulations! Well done and enjoy your baby cuddles!

primrosechill · 06/01/2022 08:54

@Makingnumber2 congrats!! Excellent news, I was meaning to check in yesterday :) enjoy the early days, hopefully I'm not too far behind you haha! xx
