TheViewOutsideMyWindow · 30/03/2021 14:12

How is everyone today? I'm feeling the effects today. Feeling heavy, fatigued and like I just want to nap in the sun! I'm 36 wks and commencing maternity leave at 38 wks with baby being an ELCS at some point between 38 and 39+6. Mat leave cannot come soon enough, but I feel like my boss has piled on the work this week. Plus my 3yo is absolutely full of beans when she comes home from preschool and I find it all just exhausting!

When does/did everyone else take mat leave? Too late to move my date I think :(

LifeIsBusy · 30/03/2021 14:16

@TheViewOutsideMyWindow My last day is Thursday at 37+3 (office is closed for easter). Im shattered and it can't come around fast enough.

My 2 year old currently thinks his bed is in mine Hmm

clb8921 · 30/03/2021 14:40

@TheViewOutsideMyWindow I’m finishing next Wednesday when I’ll be 38+1. Can’t come soon enough! I’m feeling surprisingly good still, just fed up of work 😂 But then again, I don’t have a toddler to contend with, I’m not sure how I’d cope!

Inkpaperstars · 30/03/2021 15:28

Wonderful news @MsHedgehog congratulations

LittleAppleFan2021 · 30/03/2021 17:08

@TheViewOutsideMyWindow it's my understanding if you go off sick for pregnancy related symptoms like exhaustion it will automatically trigger your mat leave, but check your contract and your union if you have one xx

LittleAppleFan2021 · 30/03/2021 17:09

@TheViewOutsideMyWindow obviously if the sickness happens within so many weeks of your mat leave starting xx

LittleAppleFan2021 · 30/03/2021 17:12

I think you are also legally allowed adjustment to your work for being in late stages of being pregnant, so worth speaking with boss and HR and union if the opposite is happening xx obs check with union or ACAS if you have no union first

TheViewOutsideMyWindow · 30/03/2021 17:28

Thanks ladies, I'm just having a whinge tbh! I can't really change things at work as I've a project I really need to finish. Hopefully time will start speeding up!

LuckygoLucy · 30/03/2021 21:50

Rant Alert! I'm so done with this week and its only Tuesday, yesterday was my last consultant app before my csection and I begged for a face to face but no I get telephone yay! To be told to just bring my notes (from previous hosp) in at my pre op meeting. I kicked off a little and she tried to get me a face to face for this week/next but apparently everyone is full, so she has sent an email to all staff concerned regarding my situation, but how can she know my situation when she hasn't seen the notes and no one has ever looked me over. I told her I'm petrified of going into labour (more of that to come) but she said even if I do there is no risk, well actually there is, its in my notes 10% due to having previous classical Cs and higher due to scarring of uterus! I've literally got no confidence in the medical people who I have to have looking after me. Labour I'm so freaking scared because I'm constantly struggling since Saturday I've had vomiting but this is first time no morning sickness, pooping so j feel like this is the clear out stage I've either had the worst hicks or slow set contractions, yesterday was the worst for about 6 hours I had contraction pain (I believe contraction pain anyway) starting in the back working its way to front and then sitting there for like 20 to 40 seconds. Doesn't go with movement, just come in they say if they are regular, but there not regular and when you have other children and it's 1am it's not so easy to just head into hospital for a maybe I need to be sure but that means I have to let it continue and if it is actual labour then I'm risking rupture, again no one seems to care. Also the pelvic pressure is horrid and the bloody gas I swear I've burped more in last week then j have my entire life.... Rant over.
I've been furloughed since Dec and my mat leave starts the 11th which is literally the day before I'd have to go back to work lol.
Also anyone else literally want to stab their dh, asking asking a friend honest lol xx

SunnySideUp2020 · 30/03/2021 22:11

39w3 and got a feeling this little madam will not be exiting anytime soon 😑

BaaHumbugg · 30/03/2021 22:19

@LuckygoLucy sorry you're having a hard time of it! I didn't even think about what I'll do with my daughter if I go into labor in the middle of the night and my other half had to drive me there, you have got me worried now haha!

It's a shame you haven't been able to get a face-to-face appointment. I'm having my last midwife appointment tomorrow, well I think it is my last I don't even know really. I've been burying my head in the sand a bit to be honest but now time is speeding up!

@sunnysideup2020 I hope things get going for you soon!

To everyone I've missed congratulations or good luck SmileGrin

JTB123 · 30/03/2021 22:30

39+2 today, first time I've ever had any kind of tightening which I assume are Braxton Hicks! - mow I understand the feeling! But they've been constant throughout the day! I wonder if this is the start of something eeeeeek!

Inkpaperstars · 30/03/2021 22:37

@TheViewOutsideMyWindow

In my recent experience as you get closer it does speed up!
Inkpaperstars · 30/03/2021 22:38

Although maybe that was the clocks going forward Smile

Inkpaperstars · 30/03/2021 22:41

@LuckygoLucy you deserve to have that rant, have it again later if you want, sounds like an infuriating situation. I know how you feel about lack of faith in medical care. It’s been a struggle with antenatal care for years and covid hasn’t helped.

Mumto3andexpectingagain · 30/03/2021 23:50

@LuckygoLucy rant away lady, it's better to have a sounding board than spewing in silence! Is there anyway you can just call an ambulance and just go in, I dont think they can turn you away if you're on their doorstep brought in by paramedics?

LittleAppleFan2021 · 31/03/2021 02:58

@LuckygoLucy do you have a maternity triage number you can call? I'd ring it first thing in the morning and see what they say?
I've been given a useless assigned midwife who is shielding and no longer responds to my texts so I've been calling our non urgent number God knows how many times... And seeing a different midwife basically every appointment. As its my first I've got nothing to compare it to so have had to just roll with it.
I rang the the non urgent number yesterday and probably should again today as before going to bed, once I'd climbed the stairs then picked up the cat to fuss it I literally saw dancing shining stars, my feet have also started swelling so I'm concerned about pre-eclampsia... But the stars went away almost immediately once I sat down... I'm 37 wks. I probably should ring the non urgent line tomorrow... But I feel like I'm ringing it all the time now, hate being a nuisance! Xx
