Made a new thread for us as we were coming to the end of the previous one!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
JTB123 · 06/04/2021 11:30

Currently sat on the assessment ward after some reduced movements, monitored me for one hour when I noticed the tightening definitely ramping up!!
Sore lower back and what I think are contractions every now and again!

Waiting for the dr to see us as they like to induce you after 40 weeks if you have reduced movements apparently! Eeeek xx

1sttimemumtobe2021 · 06/04/2021 11:46

Eek @JTB123 let us know what they say!!

bunhead34 · 06/04/2021 12:32

Has anyone had night sweats? I kept waking up drenched last night and needing to change - it's so gross!

My cramps seem to be ramping up today, hopefully something is happening. Going to attempt some cooking to put in the freezer!

Wavesandsmilesencore · 06/04/2021 13:49

39 weeks here today and just catching up on the thread, so a huge congratulations to @clb8921 and @Inkpaperstars for your new arrivals. Much good luck for those expecting today or during the coming days.

I’m feeling much better since finding a doula to support me, and since my consultant told me that despite published policy, they “close their eyes” if a woman in labour is struggling with the mask on and needs to take it off.

My days currently filled with attempts to stop the kids developing square eyes through too much tv, or murdering each other, so getting out for walks and to the playgrounds which I really hope will also encourage the baby to get a move on 😁

rainbow95 · 06/04/2021 14:48

I'm 39 weeks today and have had slight period style cramps the last few days but that could be just wishful thinking. I've had growth scans and baby is predicted to be above 90th percentile but I'm not overly stressed by this as I know the growth scans can be inaccurate. Women are more than capable of giving birth to larger babies too. Consultant recommended a sweep when I see my midwife this week. What are your opinions on having one? My instinct is to wait for baby to come when he/she is ready.

Wavesandsmilesencore · 06/04/2021 15:57

Hi @rainbow95, I’m also predicted a 90th centile baby. My consultant had suggested induction this week or on due date but I explained I was happy to trust my body’s ability to have the baby, so I’m waiting it out (hopefully) for a spontaneous labour.

I had 6 sweeps with my last baby, absolutely no effect and just a bit unpleasant. So based purely on my experience I’d say don’t bother - but I’m sure these work sometimes! She arrived at 40+10 and quite spontaneously with no subsequent interventions(and was 8lb12oz!)

rainbow95 · 06/04/2021 16:13

Thanks for your reply @Wavesandsmilesencore. I feel the same in tusting my body. 6 sweeps! I have read that if the baby is close, sweeps are more effective, but if baby isn't ready they might not work. I'll stick it out I think. 😊

tinatsarina · 07/04/2021 14:04

I've just had a sweep today, 40+1 and was told I'm 3cm already getting some cramps had abit of a show so fingers crossed baby comes today/tomorrow

BaaHumbugg · 07/04/2021 15:21

Good luck @tinatsarina!

Wavesandsmilesencore · 07/04/2021 16:18

LuckygoLucy · 07/04/2021 16:57

I'm out of the race so to speak baby Charlie John (CJ) was born yesterday via an emergency c section as was in early labour fully effaced 3 cms dilated it was all go go go.

So a huge good luck to everyone and future congratulations for when you all meet your babies xxx

Congratulations @LuckygoLucy and good luck @tinatsarina

I’m 40 weeks today and so fed up, have a sweep booked tomorrow so hoping that will start things off!

Flappityflippers1 · 07/04/2021 18:11

Congratulations @LuckygoLucy!

tinatsarina · 07/04/2021 18:58

Congrats @LuckygoLucy !
So I'm timing my contractions and they are sore but not In a definite pattern yet since 6 it's been every 8 mins with the occasional 5. Waters haven't went yet so once the kids are in bed I might order a spicy takeaway but don't know if I'll regret it later lol

tinatsarina · 07/04/2021 21:39

Update: contractions are quite painful but still not regular should I still phone maternity unit?

Mumto3andexpectingagain · 07/04/2021 21:43

@tinatsarina I would deffo phone them so they are aware, they might tell you to wait it out or tell you to come in to be checked, then decide whether to keep you in or send you home, at least you'll have the peace of mind of where exactly you're at eg dilating, effacement etc

LittleAppleFan2021 · 07/04/2021 22:28

Congratulations @LuckygoLucy!!! Xxx

Mumto3andexpectingagain · 08/04/2021 07:40

@tinatsarina how are you this morning?

drumst1ck · 08/04/2021 11:15

Anyone else really done now? Can't stop eating, crying, sleeping and pooping....I'm basically a newborn...

Need to get this baby out soon otherwise I'm going to go insane. And I'm not even past my due date yet 😭

Update!! So phoned maternity last night and decided to go up and get assessed where they said I was 5-6cm dilated so up I went to the delivery suite around 11 and baby was born 2.05 in the morning. Katie is 7lbs 3 and doing well. I've to stay on the ward for a few days but I don't mind

bunhead34 · 08/04/2021 11:30

@tinatsarina congratulations!

@drumst1ck I'm done too! I'm 39 + 2, I don't know how I'll manage if I go over 😭
