I'm 38 weeks and not engaged at all! I was disappointed when the midwife told me!

But then I read the first push can be what engages them, so don't think it's that important

LittleAppleFan2021 · 03/04/2021 17:46

At all-in-one my recent appointments and last scan baby's been head down and in the 'right' position but I honestly think it's moved since! I'm 38 wks tomorrow and I think it's gone transverse! Seems to be like it quite often for me. Getting a bit concerned as everywhere online I look this means it could be dangerous if waters break and means they may want to give me a a CSec? My midwife had a trainee with her 2 wks ago and the trainee said she thought it was transverse but the midwife said it wasn't and was head down, she tried to explain and show us both but I'm not certain she was right 😂...anyway baby's definitely been transverse a few times since as it's stretched my belly out in such a weird shape and you can clearly feel a little ball about the size of a big fist pushing out which it think is the head?

LittleAppleFan2021 · 03/04/2021 17:47

All in one = ofHmm

Cookie9093 · 03/04/2021 18:14

Hi all! Can I join the thread?

Currently 38 +1 FTM and fed up is an understatement! So ready for baby to be here now 😂.

Had a dull backache in my lower back since about half 3 and it hasn't budged (took paracetamol, bath, bouncing on ball helped but it came straight back when I stopped) with occasional pain shooting round to my hips. I'm telling myself it's braxton hicks as I don't want to get my hopes up. Funnily enough I've never actually felt stomach tightening with BH, just period-like pains. Has anyone else experienced this?

LuckyFlash · 03/04/2021 18:14

That’s reassuring thanks everyone! Loving having less pressure on my ribs that’s for sure

BabyB22021 · 03/04/2021 19:31

@Cookie9093 I had only back pains in labour with my first but that was because he was back to back. As is this one, only I could get 2 back to back 🤣well, unless this one has turned but doesn't feel like it. Hoping he stays in until my elective section! Hope the pains aren't too unbearable for you x

Mumto3andexpectingagain · 03/04/2021 21:29

@LittleAppleFan2021 my midwife mistook it a few times as apparently baby has a bony bum so she had to double check. Its filled out now though, luckily

clb8921 · 03/04/2021 22:20

Quick update from me. 37+4 and my waters started going this morning - such a tiny amount I genuinely thought that going in for assessment was a waste of my and their time as assumed probably just discharge. But waters definitely on their way out. Eek. Have got to go in to be induced if nothing happens before 5am in the morning. This was not how it was supposed to happen 😬😬😬

BaaHumbugg · 03/04/2021 22:23

@clb8921 good luck! Have you got any contractions yet? Hope you get some sleep tonight.

drumst1ck · 03/04/2021 22:30

@clb8921 good luck! Waters went before anything with my first and I started proper labour within a few hours. Fingers crossed it's similar for you!

clb8921 · 03/04/2021 22:38

Thank you! No contractions yet and it’s been 17 hours since the first loss of waters, not feeling hopeful but what will be will be!

Inkpaperstars · 03/04/2021 23:59

@clb8921 wishing you lots of luck for tonight and beyond!

Doing well thanks @BaaHumbugg!
Our little easter baby was born yesterday afternoon Easter Smile
She is so cute and currently sleeping and squeaking in her hospital cot next to me, I am besotted with her as expected Grin.

She has given me a few scares, doctor was called overnight to check her breathing, we have to keep an eye on it but hopefully just adjusting life on the outside!

Just over six pounds, good weight but a pound less than scan prediction!

Section was fine! I felt a bit funny when they gave me the spinal but that soon passed.

Wishing everyone the best x

clb8921 · 04/04/2021 00:05

Congratulations @Inkpaperstars! Hope you are both doing well x

Cookie9093 · 04/04/2021 02:13

@clb8921 wishing you lots of luck!! Just out of curiosity, how do you know its your waters? Ive been getting lots of watery discharge recently and a couple of times some small wet patches in my underwear which are odourless. It's not a regular thing so I just put it down to the discharge.

MsHedgehog · 04/04/2021 05:59

Aww congratulations @Inkpaperstars! Hope you’re both doing ok and the scares are over and you can start enjoying baby!

@LuckyFlash I think baby became engaged at 34 weeks for me...all of a sudden the painful hips when I slept disappeared, baby felt low down, my bump changed and I was waddling. At a check up at 37 weeks he wasn’t engaged, which made sense as the painful hips came back and I wasn’t waddling anymore. But when my waters broke the following week at week 38, he was engaged again, but I didn’t feel any different to when he was disengaged!

MsHedgehog · 04/04/2021 06:00

@clb8921 eeek exciting! Good luck and hope it goes well!!

LuckygoLucy · 04/04/2021 07:07

Congratulations @Inkpaperstars.
Fingers crossed for you @clb8921.
@LuckyFlash bubba dropped and has been engaged for a while still get heartburn and all the un comfort of not being engaged lol.
I've only skimmed through quickly so apologies if I've missed anything.

Quick update, started contractions late last night/early this morning so currently I labour ward hooked up to machines. Going to swab if waters have gone as j have no idea! Xx

Update 2.0
Definitely was/am having contractions but not actual labour yet and they have eased off alot now was in hospital untill about 12 but they wanted to keep me in untill Thursday my section date and I was all up for this, best place to be and all that. However when they took me to the ward I had a huge panic attack due to covid restrictions and being in middle bay surrounded by those delightful blue curtains. So j begged to be released consultant wants me back tomorrow and he is going to push to get a full team ( 2 senior consultants 2 x surgical consultants and a anesthesiologist consultant) plus ever one else for Tuesday. So I came home got some sleep and spent the day with dd (2yo) which was another big thing as j hadn't been able to say goodbye to her as I went to hospital this morning she was sleeping. They are finally taking my concerns seriously and I couldn't be happier! Just hope to get some sleep tonight and get the next few days over with!

Btw anyone got suggestions for a hospital stay bag I've got all the post baby bags ready but never ever thought I'd need one pre baby lol xx
