We bought 2 of these boxes, to give to our parents on our wedding day at the start of May. They've just arrived. Soooo cute 😭 Our siblings both have a child, but it'll be first time grandparents for us 🥰

I think i'm out. I got a FR this morning and used fmu and I can't see anything at all on it. Still no period. Considering the lines were so faint on the other tests i'm guessing chemical? Good luck to everyone else. Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months

FinnsMammy · 27/03/2021 12:02

Thanks everyone for the welcome! 🥰 My only real symptom atm is tiredness but I dunno if that’s the fact that I haven’t slept more than 3 hours straight in 18 months!! My toddler still gets a bf at night and still doesn’t sleep through the night and ends up in our bed every night soothing himself back to sleep on my boob 🙈! We are going to try sleep training next weekend to get him to sleep the whole night through in his own cot if anyone has any personal experience on how to get an 18 month old to sleep through the night please do share xx

FinnsMammy · 27/03/2021 12:03

@babyguacamole I’m so sorry to hear this ! Xx

Arthien · 27/03/2021 12:07

@PenneyForThem funny you should say that, I had the exact same thing yesterday! Maybe all the general cramping means we're sleeping slightly awkwardly? Probably find it's an obscure symptom!

@CCG92 those are so adorable! I'm sure they'll be a lovely surprise for your parents and in-laws-to-be.

@babyguacamole sorry to hear that, it's not over til AF arrives. Sending you positive wishes whatever happens.

FinnsMammy · 27/03/2021 12:08

@CCG92 that’s fab where did you get this? I bought a book that says “I’m a big brother” his grandparents love to read to him so when we are ready to tell them our news we will get our son to pass the book to them to read to him lol I actually bought it for my husband as I had suspicions I was pregnant and wanted to surprise my husband that way but I got my BFP 1 day before the book arrived abs couldn’t wait that long lol

FinnsMammy · 27/03/2021 12:31

A tip for all the first time mums out there you might get all day nausea which is what I had with my son and the only thing that makes you feel better is to eat ! Well I found that sucking the sugar free werthers original worked wonders to combat the nausea I’ve just stocked up on them now ! Xx

lucea87 · 27/03/2021 12:43

@Arrierttyclock yay! So good to see it writing 💕

Welcome all the new ladies! I can't keep up!

Those are so cute @CCG92 😍

So sorry @babyguacamole 😢 sending hugs xx

@FinnsMammy thank you! I had noticed this, thinking of keeping a banana next to my bed for first thing to be honest!!

marcella64 · 27/03/2021 12:45

@FinnsMammy I have years of sleep training experience. I coach most my friends in it too, will you be doing a controlled crying technique? X

marcella64 · 27/03/2021 12:46

@babyguacamole sending huge hugs. I hope you get your bfp soon xxx

FinnsMammy · 27/03/2021 13:02

@marcella64 great to hear ! Yes I was thinking controlled crying! What’s best in your opinion ? X

Wiltshire90 · 27/03/2021 13:08

@babyguacamole ah so sorry to hear that ❤

@FinnsMammy no trouble with appetite over here 🙋‍♀️😂

@marcella64 ah my sister lives out your way!

Had a busy night shift and went to two jobs where it could have gone a bit wrong. Also did a freezing search in the sleet. It made me so stressed that something would go wrong that I ended up telling my sergeant and now I'm off front line!! Sad but defo for the best. Just awkward that my hand has been forced into people knowing so early.

PenneyForThem · 27/03/2021 13:12

@Arrierttyclock ahh that is interesting- I’ve had such a lazy morning I’ve only just managed to take myself up to the shower and blast it with some hot water, which has helped a little!

@marcella64 ahh i’m only 25mins from the Tesco roundabout on the way to Norwich- small world!

@babyguacamole Fingers crossed for you it’s not bad news- you’re not out until AF shows Flowers

@FinnsMammy I also agree about the eating through the nausea- I ate my way through biscuits during the first trimester last time!

CCG92 · 27/03/2021 13:29

@babyguacamole so so sorry to hear ♥️

@Arthien @lucea87 they are super cute aren't they!? Can't wait to tell them 🥰

@FinnsMammy thank you! They are just from Etsy. Packaging etc is so lovely, and they came within like 2 days. Your book idea is so cute! 😍

@Wiltshire90 aww bless you. Gutted for you that you had to tell people before you wanted to. But glad to know you're safe now from any violence etc. xx

marcella64 · 27/03/2021 13:29

@FinnsMammy controlled crying all the way!!! It will take about 5 days. Is it just the night time feed you want to cut out? When he goes to bed in the evenings does he go off by himself? X

marcella64 · 27/03/2021 13:33

@PenneyForThem defo a small world!!

@Wiltshire90 I'm dreading telling work for the same reason, they won't let me out on my visits. Defo the best thing telling them lastnight tho, I'd love to go in to your job role!! X

FinnsMammy · 27/03/2021 13:40

@marcella64 he just gets 1 feed at night been this way for about 4 months now this is how he falls asleep around 7:30 then I drop him into his cot and he always wakes like clockwork around 11 and screams his head off and ends up in our bed and just uses me as a soother then whenever he wakes up during the night. I don’t mind giving him the feed to drop him off and I’ve also been taking him for evening walks to put him to sleep some days instead of feeding him to sleep to cut it out if need be but it’s the constant waking and staying in his own cot in his own room that I need to fix. Thanks xx

Wiltshire90 · 27/03/2021 13:41

@marcella64 come and join us!! I'm probably the same as you, I love going out and not being stuck in the office. I'm going to be staring at a screen for the next 8 months 😭

marcella64 · 27/03/2021 13:51

@FinnsMammy how old is he? You and OH will both need to be onboard with not going in when he's screaming.

do your usual routine prior to 7.30 bath, story ect. Quick cuddle then put him to bed and say goodnight. He will scream I imagine so leave him for 5 mins then go and lay him back down and say goodnight nothing else. He will then scream again, leave him for 7 mins this time if she's still going after 7 mins go back and lay him down but this time say nothing to him, shut the door and then it's 10 mins. Repeat this with 12, 15, 30 mins and so on until he settles. Even if he is pulling out all the stops to get your attention including being sick through being so hysterical say not one word to him but change his bedding clothes ect. First night is the worst but most people have them sleeping straight off by 5 nights.

I did this with both my kids at 6 months then 18 months when they regressed. It works, they have always slept since. X

Poptart90 · 27/03/2021 14:57

@FinnsMammy there are lots of gentle methods for sleep training if you don't feel comfortable leaving him to cry, Google the disappearing chair technique for a starting point.
I'd try not feeding him to sleep, but having the feed earlier in your bedtime routine, maybe downstairs, and then taking him up, putting him in his cot and reading a book, then sitting with him as he goes to sleep, not engaging him but just letting him know you're there. You want to break the association between feeding and sleep. You've been doing it for 18 months so it won't necessarily be an overnight change ❤️

Poptart90 · 27/03/2021 15:00

@babyguacamole so sorry to hear that ❤️

Poptart90 · 27/03/2021 15:12

My main symptom at the moment is being really tired, and my hips are still achy, though not as bay as before. This inbetweeny stage is really hard! I've got an early scan booked for the end of April, I think it'll only start to feel real then

marcella64 · 27/03/2021 15:14

I will agree with @Poptart90 in that other methods are also good to do if your not comfortable with leaving to cry, it worked for me and mums I know but I also know some who just feel it's too much.

Soexciting · 27/03/2021 15:15

@babyguacamole so sorry to hear this.

@FinnsMammy your routine sounds exactly like mine with my 15 month old. She loves the milk so much and I am too much of a "gentle parent" to do controlled crying even though I know it works and I know lots of people who have done it with fantastic results.

@Horehound yes still breastfeeding and at night/all night. My little one is constantly teething, she has 16 at 15 months so seems to feed all night to cope with the pain! How old is your little one? I thought mummy milk would sound better than boobie being shouted across the room if we ever got that far. Although I taught her the sign for milk and she just does it constantly. Usually during zoom calls with grandparents who know exactly what it means Blush

FinnsMammy · 27/03/2021 15:34

@marcella64 he is 18 months old maybe he is having the dreaded sleep regression you mentioned as the last few nights have been rough 🙈. I tried initially to sleep train him at 5 months but my husband wasn’t on board as we couldn’t handle the crying! @Poptart90 thanks for this too I will look into both sleep training options and see what the hubbie thinks! @Soexciting I hear you we only have 8 teeth here and I feel like he is constantly teething !!! I can’t imagine sleeping a while 8 hours again it would be amazing my child has never ever slept through the night yet without at least 3 night wakings.🙈
