Hey girls. I've not been around as much as I've been trying not to think about ttc / pregnancy etc, but I've been wondering how you both are so popped back to see.

Wow @HalGem99 that scan is amazing! So excited for you that you're having a beautiful little girl! 💜 enjoy your shopping spree!

@Daffodil21hope you are all good too?

HalGem99 · 15/04/2021 06:50

@treesall that's nice of you. How are you holding up? What are your thoughts on ttc again?

I'm OK, still just trying to get through each day! Xx

Daffodil21 · 15/04/2021 08:07

@treesall all good I think thank you. 23 weeks today and still not feeling any movement (I have an anterior placenta so it is to be expected). I've got a scan next Friday so I'm really hoping all is ok still. I'm having some issues with my employer who is has been making things difficult, and has now asked me to go on a building site every two weeks to do site inspections until I leave for maternity. So he's asking me to go on a construction site during a pandemic when I'm 6-8/9 months pregnant. 100% not happening. How are you? ❤️

Oh that's tricky @Daffodil21. The absolute last thing you need right now is work stress! Grrrr! I hope he can see sense and drops that idea.

I'm fine thank you. Just waiting for my pregnancy tests to go negative. Tried one this morning and it's still very positive which is a bit annoying, I was expecting it to be fading by now.

I have one month til my private appointment so as long as it's cleared by then I guess it's all ok! x

Daffodil21 · 15/04/2021 09:04

@treesall oh he's dropped it. I didn't give him a choice. My GP gave me a note saying I'm fit for work but from home only. But it's all got a bit unpleasant so I'm probably going to take maternity ASAP. Not ideal but I can't deal with the work stress and I won't put myself through it, especially as we've come so far.

Oh I hate the pregnancy testing time. It's such a strange feeling to be wanting it to be negative isn't it. My HCG always goes down within 2 weeks so I've never seen it stay positive afterwards, but I imagine that's gutting. What will they be doing at your private appointment?

@Daffodil21 Oh I think perhaps I didn't tell you!

My nhs referral for recurrent miscarriage was going to take months and months, so we decided to just go and get the testing done privately. Luckily the nhs consultant at my local hospital is Dr Shehata who seems to have a great reputation and his private clinic is local to me so I'm going there. I have since found out that my medical insurance will pay for all the tests so I'm annoyed with myself that I didn't pursue it after the third mc but I can't change it now. They won't fund any treatment of course, but even just the tests was going to be somewhere between £2-4K so that's a massive massive help!

Daffodil21 · 15/04/2021 10:20

@treesall that's great that your local clinic is Dr S and the testing will be covered by your insurance! We were going to go to him after the 3rd loss and then I got pregnancy straight away so we didn't.

There is a thread on the go which has lots of ladies under his care. It's called the pred thread, I'll find a link and post it here. I'm part of it because I was taking pred to begin with and it's been very useful x

Thank you @Daffodil21 . I'll go and read it and maybe say hello on there.

Daffodil21 · 18/04/2021 11:51

@HalGem99 have you bought anything yet??

OP posts:
HalGem99 · 18/04/2021 14:05

Ermmmm yes. £300 worth of pink clothes! I couldn't help myself! Then we've bought a baby bath, changing mat, nappy caddy for the living room, a growegg2, all the Johnson baby and child farm products you can think of! A baby grooming kit, baby towels and blankets. We've put money aside for a perfect prep machine and baby monitors to get nearer the time. Then my mil is buying our nursery furniture and my mum is buying the pram set. Still so much to buy though!!

We're going to start decorating the nursery next weekend!

What about you? Xx

Daffodil21 · 18/04/2021 14:17

@HalGem99 glad to hear it!! Tbh it sounds like you have most things covered?? What's left?? Maybe I've missed loads off my list 😂 did you manage to enjoy it?

Yes, we've bought lots of clothes, a changing unit and child's wardrobe, carrycot/pushchair, mattress, car seat, changing mats, breast pump, video monitor, crib for our room and then a 'cat proof' crib for downstairs. There's only a few things left on my list (I think!!)

OP posts:
HalGem99 · 18/04/2021 14:36

Yes definitely trying to enjoy it now! I think I'm feeling baby move quite a lot but then when I really try to concentrate it stops! Have you felt it yet?

You sound like you're very prepared for baby's arrival. What's your due date?

Xx

Daffodil21 · 18/04/2021 14:51

@HalGem99 that's good!! So glad you are. Trying to here too.

My due date is 12th august, when is yours? I have a feeling he'll be early though - my DH was really early although apparently this doesn't affect anything. It's good to get prepared just in case!!!

OP posts:
Daffodil21 · 18/04/2021 14:54

@HalGem99 oh and still no movements here 😒 next scan is Friday. When is yours?

OP posts:
HalGem99 · 18/04/2021 14:55

7th September. I am definitely all about being prepared! I've stocked up on my post birth breast pads and maternity pads and disposable knickers! I'm also going to get some of that spritz for bits! Have you heard of it? Supposed to be really good xx

HalGem99 · 18/04/2021 14:56

Next scan 26th April xx

Daffodil21 · 18/04/2021 15:13

@HalGem99 I've started to gets bits like that for the hospital bag, but mostly just have that in list form atm. I've not heard of the spritz - what is it? Also not heard of disposable knickers...?! Why would they be needed? In cases of bleeding through pads? Totally clueless here 😂

OP posts:
HalGem99 · 18/04/2021 15:19

The spritz for bitz is a product made by experienced midwives. It's a spray that you spray down there to help with the pain and healing process post birth. It's £20 a bottle but I've heard that it's so worth it!

Apparently the hospital recommends disposable knickers because post birth you will leak through the pads and they tell you to put 2 pads on at a time! So glamorous hey! My friends all used them and said they were much better as you didn't have to remove the soaked through pads from your knickers, you could just take the disposable ones off and chuck everything in the bin at the same time straight away. Xx

Daffodil21 · 18/04/2021 15:23

@HalGem99 added to the list - thank you! I'm debating about possibly having a c section but not sure. I'll speak to the consultant in a month so I'll see what she says. She did mention it last time I spoke to her and I think I am leaning towards it!

OP posts:
HalGem99 · 18/04/2021 15:28

No worries.

Do you get to choose what you do in Scotland? Here you only get a c-section if there's complications or the doctors recommend it I think?!

I will need to find out how low my placenta is at the 20 week scan as I think if it doesn't mo e itself they recommend a c section xx

Daffodil21 · 18/04/2021 15:32

@HalGem99 I think you can ask for a c section anywhere in the uk? Would you prefer a natural birth? I am still in two minds but think I am leaning towards a c section

OP posts:
HalGem99 · 18/04/2021 15:43

Well I honestly didn't know that! I definitely want a natural birth if possible but not completely against a c section if it's necessary! I know a few people who had to have a c section but have also had natural births and they've all said they would recommend natural where possible.

What's making you lean towards a c section? Xx

Daffodil21 · 18/04/2021 16:01

@HalGem99 this is probably going to sound a little stupid, but I'm just a bit worried how my body will deal with birth. I feel like if it was up to my body I wouldn't even be pregnant, if I hadn't taken the prednisolone until the second trimester. The consultant said she'll look at my growth scans and will recommend a c section if she thinks it's necessary. She said if growth scans are ok and no problems arise then I could have a natural birth if I wanted, but we didn't discuss it any further
