LBoz39 · 04/03/2021 10:38

Congratulations @Stef92

pampero · 04/03/2021 10:41

Congratulations @Steph92. Certainly does sound eventful but glad baby arrived safe and well x

faithfulbird20 · 04/03/2021 19:09

@Bambino87 congrats hun. That's interesting. A lot of the things they say don't happen for everyone maybe they should add that to the stats and say every labour/birth/baby is different. I was about to give birth and was pushing and was told on the phone baby won't make an appearance for another week. So I couldn't come in. Luckily hubby drove me as fast as he could and forced me to go in.

faithfulbird20 · 04/03/2021 19:09

@Bambino87 sorry that was supposed to say Congratulations!!! So happy for you!

faithfulbird20 · 04/03/2021 19:14

@Stef92 congratulations hun!!

I have to admit I was a snorer too in hospital and was worried if anyone heard me or worse they heard me fart in my sleep!

I'm sorry you went through that. We grow babies for so many months and then at the time of birth when we're supposed to meet them we go through this horrible stressful event.

My blood pressure has been very high. 160-170-180 at times but I asked to be discharged because I didn't sleep all night. Thought I could get better rest at home. I'm on labetol 3 times a day. My mistake was that one day when they gave me my dose I though it was ibuprofen with 2 paracetamols and didn't take the labetol hence why it was so high.

TeaPiglet · 07/03/2021 12:13

Had my baby yesterday late on. 42 weeks on the dot and ended as a csection however I loved it, very different to my first born. Hope all mum's are well.

Aww congratulations @TeaPiglet ⚘🎉

LBoz39 · 07/03/2021 14:25

I'm booked in for my induction on Thursday morning at 8am, my husband can't come in with me, he has to wait for the midwives to call him when I'm in established labour.
So strange how different areas have different rules.
Going to have my covid test tomorrow afternoon then have to isolate until Thursday

Char41zam · 07/03/2021 15:56

Congrats @TeaPiglet xx

TeaPiglet · 07/03/2021 16:52

@LBoz39 that's a bit rubbish but hopefully you'll fly through induction and he'll be by your side. If you get a balloon you might be able to go home to get through early labour. I got to 2cm from that xx

@TeaPiglet congratulations! Glad it went well x x x I’m wondering whether I’d have been better off with a section. Suffering a lot of as a consequence of the forceps. Frustrating as they applied them but didn’t need to use them other than to turn him a bit as he shot out with two pushes.

@LBoz39 good luck with your induction x x x

Piccalily19 · 08/03/2021 05:55

Congrats @TeaPiglet! I thought the thread had gone a bit quiet so was looking forward to your update ☺️

Stef92 · 08/03/2021 12:55

@TeaPiglet congrats!

@Muriel84 I had forceps too as he was turning from back to back to back to front but he was taking too long due to his heart rate rising. They only used the forceps to turn him though and he was out in 2 and half pushes I think. I'm suffering too though, had a 3a tear and a cut. Will have to attend physio 😩

Muriel84 · 08/03/2021 14:07

@Stef92 they’re brutal aren’t they? I was ready for the section but I’d gone from 5cm-fully in less than an hour so they wanted to use forceps instead. He had the cord around his neck. Poor you that tear sounds awful. I had episiotomy and two tears in my vaginal wall. Apparently there’s some stitches in my labia too. I can’t bear to look. I’m doing my pelvic floor exercises religiously. I’ve been referred to urogynae cos I keep not getting to the loo on time. I can’t really feel what’s going on down there. It has gotten a little better tho. I don’t want to be wearing pads for the rest of my life... x xx

Ariana87 · 09/03/2021 09:25

@TeaPiglet congratulations! Glad you had a positive experience!

Another here thinking would I have been better with a section as still can’t sit down properly over 2 weeks later. Just about managed to drive my children to school whilst wincing in pain. Childbirth is horrific at times

pampero · 09/03/2021 11:22

@TeaPiglet congratulations!!

On the forceps/episiotomy front I totally agree! Stitches came out, then at 3 weeks pain was fading, now at 4 weeks it's come-back, getting it checked out tmrw. Baby makes it totally worthwhile but wasn't quite prepared in those first couple of weeks for that recovery. On the plus, while it still hurts it is much better than it was even at 2 weeks so hopefully same will apply to you guys. At first I thought it would never heal, being a bit more rational now!

LBoz39 · 10/03/2021 08:56

I'm packing my bag for my induction tomorrow, what has everyone packed or wish they'd packed? Husband is allowed in once I'm in established labour so he will be bringing the bag with all the baby stuff in. I packed for going into labour 2 weeks ago and now panicking that I may need different things 😅

jbx10 · 10/03/2021 09:20

@LBoz39 pack plenty snacks & changes of comfy clothes / big knickers as you don't know how long you'll be in. Plus things to keep you occupied whilst your being induced iPad/books etc.

Good luck with your induction 💓💓💓

Muriel84 · 10/03/2021 10:55

@LBoz39 I was kept in 3 nights on postnates. I packed four changes for the baby but ran out day 2. Also ran out of muslin (took six in) and maternity wipes so used towels and pads from the ward which was fine. My baby was very small which didn’t show up on fortnightly scans up until 36 weeks. Though my partner couldn’t visit he was allowed to drop off some tiny baby clothes for him.

I packed a suitcase full of stuff for me which I never used like a few changes of clothes and loads of toiletries that weren’t necessary. I was glad I had stuff to shower and wash my hair tho. One thing I had to get my partner to bring was some extra leggings as I had a couple of accidents running to the loo (forceps/catheter related).

I took in some stuff to feed the baby but ended up using the wards stuff cos they had no facilities for sterilising and he needed top ups as he was/is very hungry (my placenta wasn’t working well, hence his small size). They had lots of those little pre-made formula bottles.

The food was pretty bad. I took loads of unhealthy snacks which were useful but wish I’d had some fruit and stuff with me. Ended up ordering takeaway on the third night which was great cos hospital was in central London so lots of choices!

So even though I had a well prepared hospital bag I still wasn’t fully prepared for what happened but that was fine cos the ward had everything really. I neatly organised my babies bag into sections which my partner then threw all over the floor trying to find a hat and nappy while I was being wheeled into theatre!

Good luck with your induction! X x x

017HF · 10/03/2021 13:10

Congratulations @TeaPiglet 😊 hope you’re both doing well! X

LBoz39 · 10/03/2021 21:48

Thank you @jbx10 and @Muriel84 bag is all packed and ready. We live 30 mins away so anything I've forgotten now can be brought to me

Stef92 · 10/03/2021 22:07

@LBoz39 good luck for your induction! I took too much food wise as once I had my epidural I was not allowed to eat, if you're taking drinks make sure it's something like lucozade sport as you can have that at any stage. My hospital provided pads and disposable knickers. I also took too many changes of clothes in for myself, nobody cares if you're just rocking your nightie all the time

BL89 · 11/03/2021 18:36

Hey everyone, I thought I'd give you an update! Thanks for all the advice, it turns out it was my waters that broke. Had a bit of a nightmare with the hospital leaving us so long to induce that me and baby ended up with an infection and about a 2 week stay in hospital. We had a pretty horrific time but we're home now. Baby turned out to be a girl weighing in at 6lbs12oz 🥰

Piccalily19 · 12/03/2021 04:23

@BL89 that sounds like such an ordeal! But congratulations on your baby girl ☺️ X
