Yes I’m due on the 4th too! My midwife clinic is only run on a Tuesday so that will be my 40 week appointment and il have an induction booked in for 10 days time. Iv just been filling my time with washing anything I can wash has been all sofa covers car seat covers and got a carpet cleaner for the weekend. What are your childcare plans for when baby finally decides to arrive?

Muriel84 · 28/02/2021 10:09

Morning everyone! My baby boy arrived dramatically last Sunday 21/2/21 at 4am weighing just under 6lbs. He has intrauterine growth restriction which wasn’t picked up on the many many scans I had. Labour was traumatic - progressed very quickly but poor boy was in distress with cord around his neck. Ended up have forceps delivery in theatre - having been prepped for emergency section I dilated too quickly. He shot out. I haemorrhaged before he was born, and then the placenta got stuck and had to be manually removed. I had massive blood loss afterwards and spiked temperatures. I couldn’t even hold him for four hours. All the drugs and blood loss meant I was on another planet that first day.

I was in hospital for four days and had two transfusions but still severely anaemic and very weak. So glad to be home though it was so hard to feed on the ward and I desperately needed my partners support. Breast feeding isn’t going as well as I’d hoped though managed a little. He has no reserve, poor lamb is skin and bones, so we couldn’t wait while it was established. Having lost weight day 4 he’s now gaining again. Being weighed alternate days. On 2-3 hour feeds, trying to do breast, express and then formula. I’m so deplete I’m expressing very variable amounts.

Absolute emotional rollercoaster. Can’t believe he’s been with us a week already. All very intense! He’s absolutely perfect and I am so so thankful he’s eating well and is healthy.

Congratulations to everyone who’s baby has arrived in the last week! And good luck to everyone waiting x x x x x

Congratulations @Muriel84 and @faithfulbird20 on your babies. Both births sound so traumatic but glad to hear babies are safely here now FlowersFlowers

TeaPiglet · 28/02/2021 10:33

@Muriel84 oh my god, I'm so sorry you went through all that. Have you been offered counselling as part of your recovery? Safxxx has been asking about you and she sends her love. I'm relieved you and baby boy are doing well, have to admit I've been worried for you. Hopefully you'll recover soon and you'll settle into breastfeeding together

@Faithfulbird20 I'm sorry to hear you've been through the mill as well, I hope you get additional support too. You poor women, love to you both and speedy recovery.

Congrats to @faithfulbird20 💜 and @Muriel84 💙 wishing you both a good recovery and your babies well

KB13 · 28/02/2021 11:38

@Theonewheretherewas4 my clinic is only run on Tuesdays as well so this Tuesday is my 40 week appointment but I was told that they won’t do sweeps for women who have have had more than 1 baby before 40 weeks. I’m going to request one on Tuesday though as other wise I’ll be 40+5 before they do my first one and I’m really struggling with SPD now. My parents will be taking my daughters, they live about 15 minutes away so can come and grab them. It’s during the day that is the issue as they both work so could not be here if i go into labour then.

Congratulations @faithfulbird20 and @Muriel84 hope you both have a quick recovery

faithfulbird20 · 28/02/2021 12:33

Thanks guys.

@KB13 mines was the same for the sweep but she said if I really wanted to have it done before the 41 weeks she'd have to put a request through. Could she do that for you? I've still not met my baby and my blood pressure is high (any idea why that would be?)

MissKhan1990 · 28/02/2021 13:02

My baby girl came on Saturday at 8.45pm . The gory details to follow ......

Stef92 · 28/02/2021 13:09

Congrats @MissKhan1990 💜

TeaPiglet · 28/02/2021 13:56

@Faithfulbird20 check with the nurse if they've sent your bloods off to screen for any infections, that could be a reason for high BP

LBoz39 · 28/02/2021 13:58

Congratulations @faithfulbird20 @Muriel84 @MissKhan1990 🎉⚘ lots of arrivals appearing 😊

I had my bloody show this morning, hoping it's the start of something 🤞 as I had my sweep last Friday, getting lots of pressure in my back passage too🤷‍♀️ can't really remember if that's a sign. Hubby isn't going to work tomorrow just incase as its 1.5hr drive there, no pressure 😬😂

faithfulbird20 · 28/02/2021 15:40

Congratulations @MissKhan1990

Thanks @TeaPiglet they just said they can't a finger on why. It happens sometimes after pregnancy.

TeaPiglet · 28/02/2021 15:43

@Faithfulbird20 that's a bit strange, are you on labetalol for it? And how are you feeling in yourself?

OP posts:
faithfulbird20 · 28/02/2021 15:46

Thanks @LBoz39 and good luck. The staff in triage always give strange advice. Again I was told because I was having contractions every 8 minutes I could be tomorrow afternoon or next week and it was too early. I had contractions every 2mins (rushed to hospital) after talking to them and ended up giving birth in around 20-25 mins of arriving at the hospital thereafter. Get their early. I don't know what would have happened if our hospital was 1.5 hours away.

faithfulbird20 · 28/02/2021 15:52

@TeaPiglet I'm okay they gave me 2 pills after birth for High blood pressure (no idea what) one at 9.15am then another at 9.50am. Felt a bit dizzy drugged up. I've seen my baby an hour ish ago, she's beautiful but it breaks my heart she's having trouble with her breathing. She got distressed and ended up pooing inside so she had it in her mouth and nose...she's on antibiotics...scary for me to see as a mother..just been crying...she might have to stay here 4 days or 10 days...please pray she heals soon...as for me I'll have to take blood pressure tablets maybe for a few weeks when I go home...otherwise I may have fits...honestly my first birth was easier...I guess it's true every birth and baby are different...:nothing you can do...I'd rather have a big tear than my baby be in NICU...

jbx10 · 28/02/2021 16:14

@MissKhan1990 congratulations !! 💓

@Muriel84 oh god hun sorry to hear you had such a rough time. I was starting to worry as you'd been quiet on the thread but I'm glad your little one has arrived safe & sound.I know how you feel getting home was the best feeling ever I have never been so grateful to be in my own home!! Wow you have a lot on your plate juggling the feeds - fab baby is picking up weight! Xx

TeaPiglet · 28/02/2021 16:22

@Faithfulbird20 so glad you finally got to see her and I'll be sending all my love and hope for your little girl. My husband was in a similar situation with no difficulties now so keep your hope even through this difficult time. We're mums, we're strong and have each others back. If you need a chat or distraction then we're here

Char41zam · 28/02/2021 17:42

Congratulation on your babies being born and sorry to hear that you have had a bad time of it,@faithfulbird20 I am still on blood pressure tablets 4 weeks post partum and I am still not 100 percent myself it’s frustrating but nothing I can do I was on 2 tablets and one of them was making me really unwell so they have taken me off of that one now thank god! My anxiety has been through the roof with my health I think I have ptsd from my traumatic birth I have now also found a lump in my boob and I am praying it’s a blocked milk duct as I stopped breast feeding, has anyone else had this?

faithfulbird20 · 28/02/2021 19:44

Thanks @Char41zam and I'm sorry to hear that. It could be a blocked milk duct. One of the midwifes was talking to me about it she said to put a warm flannel on the area and push it towards the nipple so the milk would flow out. I hope we all recover soon. I'm not sure if it's because we have the added stress of being in times of corona virus. But oh my lord can't wait to go home and go back to normal.

TeaPiglet · 28/02/2021 20:15

@Stef92 thank you and good luck to you for Tuesday in case I'm not online before then
