I’ll be 18 weeks tomorrow and I have a bump which is quite small but at night time is huge! This is my first baby so not sure what to expect. I’ve been feeling something but I’ve caught on video now a few times there is definite movement and seems to be around a similar time of evening. But yesterday I didn’t notice anything just what felt like my stomach gurgling.

Is anyone else really bloated?
I literally feel if someone stuck a pin in me I'd pop like a balloon 🎈

@Pinkprinny

16 weeks today and debating if I should find out the gender early!

We’re due date buddies! We’re finding out the sex today. :)

@TiredAlreadyOhDear I feel like we are very similar. 19 weeks today, I do have a bit of a bump although to me this is just how I look when I've put on a few pounds and let my belly hang out lol, maybe slightly more rounded. I lost a bit of weight in first trimester and am only now just back up to around the weight I started at. Still no movements either, my notes don't mention an anterior placenta but I have my 20 week scan next Tuesday so will ask then. I really want to feel something!

Anyone else feel generally a bit achey? I wouldnt say painful hips or back but I'm finding it a bit harder to turn over in bed and sit up. Not sure if it's because I worked out more than usual this weekend or if my centre of gravity is really shifting all of a sudden!

Yes in the afternoons and evenings my stomach is painful and bloated and huge (compared to pre pregnancy!)... so I have a much smaller bump (though definitely do have one) in the mornings. As a result of being so big and gassy in the evenings I'm still not quite sure whether what I'm feeling is gas or baby!
Report
PurpleCurtain · 15/02/2021 10:50

@luckyelephant1 I've been making a big effort to sleep on my side all night (not natural for me!) but it's suddenly starting to get painful in my hips! Back pain is the worst so I feel for you there!

I had my 20 week scan today. All is well with baby but I had to also have an internal scan due to a low lying placenta. I have never heard of this but apparently it is a new procedure to do this at the 20 week scan of the placenta seeks low even though they say it moves 9/10.

Thought I'd mention it in case any of you have a similar situation as I didn't know it was a possibility so was a bit surprised when they asked.

@ElderMillennial thanks for the heads up! I didn’t know it was a possibility either so good to know!!

@Luckyelephant1 yeah we’re close in dates too - you’re 2 days ahead of me! I feel achy with trying to sleep on my side....it’s not natural for me either and feel like I have to really heave myself up on a morning! :)

Just a general question as well - how does everyone’s work pay maternity? I don’t know if mine is good or bad - I get 6.5 months full pay xx

Report
THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 15/02/2021 14:52

Thats really good @TiredAlreadyOhDear i will have to claim maternity allowance

Report
Flittingaboutagain · 15/02/2021 15:04

6.5 months on full pay seems brilliant to me! I will be getting 2 months full pay and then 5 months half pay.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 15/02/2021 15:05

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I thought it was good too - but have nothing to compare to it so it’s hard to know

@TiredAlreadyOhDear mine is SMP which is a huge loss for us as my income is not low.
Yours sounds amazing

I was thinking it seemed ok but then someone was saying they get 9 months full and that mine didn’t seem right so I was confused! I’m hoping to take 9 months off in total and then go back on reduced hours :) so much to think about!

9 months full pay is amazing, i have never had more than SMP!

Thanks for the heads up @ElderMillennial i had not heard of that either!

I did buy a couple of bits from the Aldi baby event but for my one year old not the baby!

Report
Luckyelephant1 · 15/02/2021 17:33

I get 5 months full pay then SMP for 4. And an option to take a further 3 months unpaid. I'm probably gonna aim for 9 months although SMP will be a big hit to our income. Trying to save as much as possible these next few months!

Report
Sweetpea12 · 15/02/2021 18:35

I’ll get 6 weeks at 90% of my average wage and then the rest of the 9 months SMP

notalwaysalondoner · 15/02/2021 18:58

Can I join? I'm due 26th July with my first, after two miscarriages last year. I have my 20 week scan next Wednesday, I'm very excited - after having losses it's made me nervous and a bit cautious so I default to thinking something has gone wrong.

Talking about maternity pay, I still haven't told work as I can't figure out what I want to do after my leave ends - I'm tempted to switch roles to something easier with fewer hours, but then also wonder if I change my mind it might be better to say nothing until after I'm on leave. There's so many trade offs women have to make compared to men!

Ginevere · 15/02/2021 19:28

@maudsid yes I found out today, mine is a girl! So excited to start buying outfits!

Thanks for the list @ElderMillennial! Can you update mine to a girl?

My maternity pay is also 6 months full pay, such a weight off. Gonna try and spend as little as possible on mat leave and save it all up.

My bump is defo here, bigger some days than others when she’s shifting position! She has a little move every evening, I can feel her wiggling around right now!

Report
THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 15/02/2021 20:07

Ah congrat on a girl @Ginevere! We find out on Weds!

@notalwaysalondoner i would not say about changing roles yet, see how you feel once baby is here

Welcome new people

Congrats to everyone finding out the sex! I’m 20 weeks tomorrow and am definitely feeling achey and have developed a really sore lower back. Ouch.
I’ve been feeling little movements for a couple of weeks now but in the last few days have noticed a new sensation of feeling quite a lot of pressure in my tummy! I’m a FTM and am sure it’s very normal, just wondered if anyone else has experienced this?!
