@jellybean81, hope everything is ok for you and you get home soon.

feel really unorganised and that we are running out of time, we are in the middle of a house renovation (started before finding out) and it just feels like we are not making any progress at all.

ahhhhhhh, this baby will be sleeping in a drawer at this rate!

Jellybean81 · 26/04/2021 13:01

I had been having what I thought were round ligament pains, then they shifted to my back and reminded me of early labour with my son. I popped in to be assessed and had a positive foetal fibronectin test which means higher risk of labour in next 10 days.

Anyone who feels like anything is odd please get checked out. Also don't be afraid to speak up for yourself. I finally feel like a plan is coming together but it's literally taken the best part of a week and me asking 'what is the plan' over and over again.

Jellybean81 · 26/04/2021 13:02

My DH has been allowed to sit with me and could even stay overnight. No other visitors allowed though.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 26/04/2021 13:15

@Jellybean81 being in hospital when you have a little one at home as well must be a such a pain. Glad a plan is coming together now though hopefully not long until you’re home.

Jellybean81 · 26/04/2021 13:21

It's so hard being away 😞 he's 5 and I miss him so much as it's the longest we've been apart. The experience has made me even more grateful for family support - they've really stepped up covering drop offs and pick ups and weekend fun. I had a cry today when I opened the wonderful card he got me - he's promising to make me toast for breakfast Grin

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 26/04/2021 13:55

@Jellybean81 that is too cute 🥰 bless him!

Do they think because of this that you will end up having the baby early? Hopefully he/she stays put for a good few weeks yet!

FemaleLady · 27/04/2021 00:57

@Jellybean81 sorry you are going through all this. i hope the baby stays till its due. u will get to go home and have that toast made by your 5 year old blessing

Mummy2O · 27/04/2021 08:00

@Jellybean81 I am so sorry you are going through this. It must be so worrying for you. I hope things settle down and they let you home soon.

Jellybean81 · 27/04/2021 08:44

I'm back at home!

Got to wait for a scan referral as yesterday they finally got round to measuring bump which is a bit small but risk of preterm labour has passed - apparently if it didn't happen in the 5 days I was in hospital it's not going to happen.

Thanks for all the messages of support!

Warrickdaviesasplates · 27/04/2021 09:50

@Jellybean81 brilliant! That must be such a relief. Hopefully the rest of your pregnancy will run smoothly for you.

PeanutButterFalcon · 27/04/2021 11:02

@Jellybean81 glad you’re home and everything Is ok. Hope you get your toast x

What car seat have people gone with?

We got given a silver cross wayfarer pram that's a few years old but this limits us on car-seats.
Thinking on the Cybex Cloud z, but would appreciate any reccomendations or reviews if people have used it before?
The pram we have fits the maxi cosi pebble or Rock too.

(first baby).

We were considering the DOONA but then my OH and I are both quite tall (6ft) so worried it would be too short.

Car seat seems like such a big decision out of all of the things to get.

Mummy2O · 27/04/2021 21:31

We have a Britax Romer, which we had for DS1. We have been really happy with it. Britax safety testing is what swung it for us. They test beyond the minimums which gave us confidence.

Warrickdaviesasplates · 27/04/2021 21:34

We have a Joie 360 spin seat (think that's the name) it was DS's from 2 years ago but I found the spin function a real back saver after birth. But it is stuck into the car and can't be fixed into a pram if that's an important feature for you.

We're currently looking for a new group 1 seat for DS as we got rid of DDs old one.

Mrslouu · 27/04/2021 21:48

How’s everyone doing? So our baby made an early appearance last week; 3 months early and receiving excellent care in the baby unit. I will still check in her to see how everyone is doing and will need recommendations for baby gear in the coming months Flowers

Mummy2O · 27/04/2021 21:51

@Mrslouu Congratulations on the birth of your little one. How are you both doing?

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 27/04/2021 21:59

@B1990 we have got the egg car seat - it came as part of the travel system we bought - it needs the isofix base which we got as part of the bundle too. We wanted one where we could use it on the pram frame for quick trips so spot on for us. I think when we go up to the next size that’s fixed into the car we will look for one that swivels as it will be so much easier to ge them in and out of the car! @Mrslouu congratulations- did you have a boy or a girl? I bet that was a surprise 3 months early! Glad the baby unit are taking good care of your little one! Xx

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 28/04/2021 06:58

@Mrslouu congratulations Flowers glad to read your baby is getting good care!

We have a cybex aton 5 seat as it fits on our pram

Mrslouu · 28/04/2021 07:04

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE thank you lovely x

Mrslouu · 28/04/2021 07:08

@TiredAlreadyOhDear @Mummy2O we had a little boy. He will likely stay in the neo natal
Unit for sometime but is making tiny improvements every day. I am fine, wasn’t very prepared. Popped to the doctors with a bit of tummy pain and got home three days later, the tummy pain was contractions. Had excellent care from the nhs team and grateful that my doctor rang the hospital
To see if they wanted to see me as she everything appeared normal (baby’s heart beat,y tummy and my b/p).

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 28/04/2021 07:34

@Mrslouu, sounds like it must have been scary! Take care of yourself!

Warrickdaviesasplates · 28/04/2021 11:08

@Mrslouu glad to hear you and the baby are doing well.

Does he have a name yet?

Make sure to have plenty of rest and take care of yourself, it sounds like a real shock for you.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 28/04/2021 11:49

@Mrslouu sounds so scary! Really glad to hear he is making improvements every day! Let us know his name when you get chance :)

I can’t believe the July babies group has its first little babe already! It’s going to be all go in the next few months! Xx

Luckyelephant1 · 28/04/2021 11:52

@Mrslouu wow that must have been such a shock! Congrats and hope all remains well with you and baby.

I thought choosing prams was hard enough but car seats actually seem harder! Hoping to buy by the end of the week. I definitely need one that isn't fixed into the car and that can be put on a pram frame but this means obv after 12 or so months we will need a new seat and likely a new base which pushes the price up again. So much to think about!

Pinkprinny · 28/04/2021 20:39

@Mrslouu congratulations, I hope all is well.

I’m debating between the ickle bubba v4 and the egg pram
