@Warrickdaviesasplates @TiredAlreadyOhDear we named our baby Erik. He is making small
Steps of progress every day. Just so glad I got checked out with period type tummy pain. He was insistent he wanted to meet us early.

Thank you for your good wishes all. I hope everyone’s pregnancies go well.

PeanutButterFalcon · 28/04/2021 21:21

@Mrslouu congratulations. Erik is a lovely name and pleased he is doing well. Hope you’re recovering well and finding everything ok.

@Mrslouu Erik is a brilliant name! Like a little Viking prince.

Yes it's a good thing you trusted your instincts and got help quickly.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 28/04/2021 22:24

@Mrslouu love the name! Star

Jellybean81 · 28/04/2021 22:38

@mrslouu Congratulations on the safe arrival of baby Erik!

I was in a similar situation last week and I was admitted to receive the two steroid injections but things calmed down eventually. It's amazing how well they can do in special care - did you manage to have the steroids to mature his lungs?

I would echo what you said about trusting your instincts and getting checked over if anything seems off.

I hope you're managing to rest and recover as well.

CoffeeAndCaramel · 29/04/2021 07:25

@Mrslouu huge congratulations on the safe arrival of your baby! Hope you are feeling ok xx

Sweetpea12 · 29/04/2021 09:54

@Mrslouu congratulations on the arrival of your baby 💙

Fartymcfart · 29/04/2021 10:15

Congratulations @Mrslouu. Lovely name, hope you are both recovering well.

this makes it all too real, I'm so unprepared!

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 29/04/2021 10:54

@Fartymcfart I was saying that to my partner - I was like if our baby came now we wouldn’t have a clue what to do we’re not organised at all - I don’t even have the hospital numbers in my phone yet all upstairs in my folder!

Foxglovesandlilacs · 29/04/2021 13:06

@Mrslouu wow that’s amazing congrats! Glad to hear you’re both doing well Flowers

Can’t believe in 28 weeks today, it’s flying by for me.

Fartymcfart · 29/04/2021 13:29

@TiredAlreadyOhDear it has just prompted me to buy my first baby item.....a vest!

I've just been to the midwife and got to hear the heartbeat which was lovely. I wont see her again till 36 weeks now as all my other appointments are consultant lead.

It is absolutely flying.

I'm 29w tomorrow.
9 weeks of work left, and starting to plan handover sheets etc.

We've just changed hospitals (the drive is SO much simpler to the one we're going to and shorter with better parking) so got to go in tonight for repeat booking bloods. I''m hoping this means I'll get to hear heartbeat etc, as it's always such a treat when that happens.
Im sure stuff wise- we'll be unprepared - I completely forgot until this morning that we'll need something to change baby on so looking for a changing table or cot and changing topper to order.

It's a fine line -buying stuff in time so that I can put it up without a HUGE bump in the way, but also spacing it out with paychecks :D

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 29/04/2021 14:11

@Fartymcfart hahaha I love that it prompted your first buy! I’m slowly getting more and more stuff but really need this weeks to sort though it all and get the furniture built up!

Mrslouu · 29/04/2021 15:52

@Jellybean81 yes we managed to lots of steroids and some strange stick on plaster to stop the contractions, delayed things but the tummy pain (contractions) started again 7am next morning.

Thanks for the congrats ladies. Off to see our boy now.

b1990 · 30/04/2021 12:35

Does anyone else struggle with that being pregnant is inconvenient for other people?

I feel so bad for my employer having to find someone to cover my role (I'd only just started when I found out I was pregnant) - and so I originally put down 8 months off, but now have asked to take more n then go back early if I can.

I feel like my brain has turned a corner and just realised that I'm having a baby and that must be my priority - but I feel really bad for family that I won't be able to support as much (we 90% of the time go and visit and do odd jobs for parents and in laws) and for work.

It's such a weird thing. I feel like I'm being so inconvenient to everyone, but also realise that baby and my family (DH, DC and me) has to be my priority.

Any tips to shake this feeling?

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 30/04/2021 15:58

@b1990 I feel a bit like that - but I think once the baby comes our whole mindsets will change and we won’t worry about things like that as much as we will have too much to do making sure our babies are looked after.

I mainly worry about the changes that are going to come - I remember when I first got my dog (he’s almost 9 now) and on the way home in the car I was thinking ‘oh my god what have I done - what if I can’t look after him’ and I’m half expecting that feeling again when I’m on the way home from the hospital with the baby.

It still hasn’t sunk in for me I don’t think - like I’m handing over work at work but not actually thinking I won’t be there for 9months lol 😂

Luckyelephant1 · 02/05/2021 20:09

How is everyone feeling? I'm not sure whether this is normal... for the last couple of days my whole midsection (so just below boobs down to public bone) has felt uncomfortable and achey. Best way I can describe it is as if I've being doing major core workouts (I haven't) or as if I've been wearing a really tight corset for days. There's no contractions or loosening sensations so I don't think it's BH. Still feeling baby move although lower down than usual. Not sure whether I should be worried and call triage? Or is this normal? Also starting to get achey hips and back but this has been coming and going since around week 20. I'll be 30 weeks tomorrow.

FirstTimeMummy2021 · 02/05/2021 20:28

@luckyelephant1 I have had this a few times now, constant aching across my bump. Didn't seek advice as it was constant for the whole day, but when I woke up the next day it had gone. And then I went to work the next day and everyone commented on how much my bump had grown so now I think it was my muscles all stretching! I wasn't particularly worried as baby was moving away as normal, but if it happens again I'll probably just ring the midwife to double check!

Pinkroseuk · 03/05/2021 07:20

@Luckyelephant1 I have had that too- it does seem to pass and has been when bump has been growing too I noticed.
Kicks are getting stronger here but getting less at night? Anyone else had this?
Not sure if they are getting into a pattern or I'm sleeping through them now ! Got the midwife tomorrow so will mention them to them I think

Foxglovesandlilacs · 03/05/2021 08:51

@Luckyelephant1 I have this every few days for a day or two, exactly how you describe, I think it’s your muscles as your bump grows.

b1990 · 04/05/2021 17:27

Just had a phone call to book a Health Visitor appointment for pre birth...

My midwife didn't mention anything about it last time I saw her, so it really caught me off guard.

Also - the idea of having someone in my home is weird (noone's been inside since before lockdowns etc).

First time mum to be, so no real idea what a health visitor is for?

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 04/05/2021 18:00

@b1990 i had a call about this last week, its basically for hv to introduce theirself, tell you about their role and they give info on things like safe sleep and feeding etc

b1990 · 04/05/2021 18:04
@b1990 i had a call about this last week, its basically for hv to introduce theirself, tell you about their role and they give info on things like safe sleep and feeding etc
ok cool - that doesn't sound too bad.
I might see if it can be done via video or phone call.... the idea of having someone in our house (and very little outdoor space) is weird.

I guess we'd both wear masks tho.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 04/05/2021 18:09

You can refuse if you want it isn't compulsory i'm not having mine because this is baby 6 for us so it seems pointless

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 04/05/2021 20:12

My midwife told me she’s sent my details onto the HV and they should call me at some point....but she said it might be at around 32 weeks and I’m only 30 weeks tomorrow.

I’m quite pleased we’ll get to meet them before the baby comes as it would be nice to know them before they come after the baby is here especially with it being my first. Xx
