Best thing i think re pram is to go somewhere you can see them in person, work out what you want but then shop around online for best deal

Foxglovesandlilacs · 12/04/2021 08:40

I’ve always used metanium with my babies, it’s much better than sudocrem. I think with regards to the toiletries it’s personal choice... you can get away with nothing, and baby doesn’t NEED anything but I love the smell of a freshly bathed baby with baby lotion on Smile I like the child’s farm products.

You can buy as much or as little as you want, for me buying the baby stuff is one of my favourite parts!

Foxglovesandlilacs · 12/04/2021 08:41

It still hasn’t got old, 8 babies on!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 12/04/2021 08:47

I use sudocrem everyday, if a bit pink etc. I save metanium for bad bums!

Foxglovesandlilacs · 12/04/2021 08:59

You can can get the metanium barrier cream that can be used every day, I think it’s in a white tube, although I don’t use cream unless they need it, luckily mine haven’t had nappy rash much.

Foxglovesandlilacs · 12/04/2021 09:03

Also with pushchairs I have found if you go to the actual shops you can have a deal, especially if you pay with cash Wink I’m not getting one this time as I’ll be using my out and about double, but when I had dc6 I had the egg and got a few hundred off when I bought it in an independent baby shop.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 12/04/2021 09:05

Not a fan of the metanium barrier cream or bepanthem!

Worked in early years for many years so much exp of sore bums (plus own 5 dc lol)

Foxglovesandlilacs · 12/04/2021 10:07

Yes I’ve never been a fan of bepanthem either.

Take my hat off to you working in early years, I love my own kids but not keen on anyone else’s Grin

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 12/04/2021 18:36

Other peoples kids have the bonus of being returned to their own parents Grin

Foxglovesandlilacs · 13/04/2021 13:21

😂😂😂 true!

Anyone else having braxton hicks a lot? Mine are pretty much constant especially in the evenings, didn’t have them with the first three but they’ve started earlier and stronger with each baby since then.

PeanutButterFalcon · 13/04/2021 20:07

Yes me! Have been having them since about 24 weeks that I’ve noticed. Used to just be after using the toilet but now they appear anytime and I’m definitely more aware of them.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 14/04/2021 11:49

I don’t think I’ve had them to be honest. How is everyone feeling? I’m 27 weeks today! Can’t believe I’ve got one more week until I’m in the third trimester!!! X

PeanutButterFalcon · 14/04/2021 12:21

@TiredAlreadyOhDear I didn’t really notice them so much at the beginning. They’ve slowly increased.

I’m 28 weeks this week and actually feel better than I have the entire pregnancy you? Finally got everything major on order for the baby too!

OP posts:
TiredAlreadyOhDear · 14/04/2021 12:25

Yeah luckily I’m feeling really well too touchwood

We’re having the baby’s room decorated next week and then carpet the week after. Then we can get things more organised!!

What pram did you go for? I’m hoping to order mine in the next few weeks!! Xx

PeanutButterFalcon · 14/04/2021 12:34

I can’t wait to organise the baby’s room. It’s going to make it feel so much more real, plus I love giving everything a ‘home’. I sit in there now imagining it all.

I’d definitely recommend ordering one soon as we’ve been told it won’t be arriving until June and seeing them in person. We’ve gone for the egg. Wasn’t what we had gone in to look at but after pushing, folding and lifting them in and out the car we completely changed our minds. What are you thinking of?

CoffeeAndCaramel · 14/04/2021 16:03

Hi everyone!! Time is absolutely flying isn't it!
I also have been having Braxton hicks, never had them in my previous two pregnancies! I'm feeling absolutely huge the past few weeks!!

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 14/04/2021 17:29

@PeanutButterFalcon we were thinking the egg - I emailed a place I’ve seen who stick them and they said if I order by the end of April I should be ok for July. I wanted to go and try it out tho - like you say have a push and put it up and down. Did you get the whole travel system? X

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 14/04/2021 18:12

I wouldn't worry too much about ordering on time i bet somewhere online has it on next day delivery and possibly a better price!

Luckyelephant1 · 14/04/2021 18:32

I don't think I've had any Braxton Hicks, how do they feel? I feel surprisingly well too apart from getting tired more easily, just a few more days till I'm in 3rd trimester, can't believe it!

We have a couple of pram appointments this weekend to try some out then will order the one we like online from wherever is cheapest lol. I like the look of the M&P Ocarro most atm.

We've bought some of the big stuff now, and a few clothes but tbh I feel I'm buying a a bit haphazardly at the moment. I went to town today and was not very impressed with the baby clothes selection anywhere eg Next, Marks etc, I've been more impressed at supermarkets!

PurpleCurtain · 14/04/2021 18:55

@Luckyelephant1 I've been buying clothes from supermarkets and Matalan on the same basis (plus cheaper so less guilt about potentially over-buying!). Also going to see / try some prams and car seats this weekend.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 14/04/2021 19:08

Clothes wise i have bought 2 sleepsuits, a cardi, hat and some bibs. I really need to dig out the baby clothes i have in storage and see what i need

Foxglovesandlilacs · 14/04/2021 19:43

I have bought three little nighty things from Aden and anais, they’re the ones that bundle up in the bottom so no poppers to do up in the night time nappy changes! They came with a little knitted hat too, so sweet!

Apart from those I’ve bought nothing clothes wise, I have loads from last time in a huge box in the loft, just need to sort through it all, dis was a winter baby so some of it will be no good but I imagine I’ll still use the vests and sleepsuits.

Foxglovesandlilacs · 14/04/2021 19:46

@Luckyelephant1 it’s hard to describe but when you have them you can definitely feel your bump tighten and go all hard. I find them quite uncomfortable but I think that’s because I’ve had so many. I didnt have them at all until my fourth baby.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 14/04/2021 20:03

I think braxton hicks are less noticable with first or even second babies due to conditon of your stomach muscles, like @Foxglovesandlilacs i have felt them much more in subsequent pregnancies

I was looking at some bundlers on amazon but the reviews were a bit iffy with sizing, i will look for Aden and Anais ones!

PeanutButterFalcon · 14/04/2021 21:38

@TiredAlreadyOhDear I think Egg have had issues with supply due to Brexit and covid. Apparently a lot of suppliers have as things have been sat at the ports with staff on furlough and then law changes etc (that’s what I got told anyway).

No we’ve got a separate car seat as I don’t want to use one on the travel system. What colour are you thinking?

@Luckyelephant1 this is my first so I’m guessing it’s Braxton hicks was going to ask the midwife next time I see her. At first my stomach would go hard, I wouldn’t have even noticed them I’m just constantly poking my stomach. Now it almost feels like when you need a wee and have held on to it for too long and your stomach is uncomfortable.
