Warrickdaviesasplates · 11/03/2021 13:21

@TiredAlreadyOhDear good luck with yours then! I'm assuming that if it doesn't move then we'll have to have c-sections?

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 11/03/2021 14:24

@Warrickdaviesasplates yeah I was told if it’s not moved they’d book in for a section. Although looking online they do usually move so hopefully it will. Is yours also at the front?

Warrickdaviesasplates · 11/03/2021 15:41

@TiredAlreadyOhDear yeah at the front and low, so they said when the bump grows it'll probably move up.

I've just had a little look on the NHS website and it looks like it can cause bleeding in the later stages of pregnancy so that's good to know to look out for.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 11/03/2021 15:45

@Warrickdaviesasplates yeah I read that too. I’m 22 weeks now so ten weeks to wait until the scan - I think is said it’s likely to move.

Although when they scan again if they can’t tell if it’s moved enough they do an internal scan too - so not looking forward to that if I need one haha! But it will be nice to see the baby again!

Are you feeling much movement with it at the front? I’ve only just started to feel stuff in the last week or so and I think that was due to the placenta being at the front. Xx

Warrickdaviesasplates · 11/03/2021 17:26

@TiredAlreadyOhDear oh god, i hate internal scans. From what I read 9 out of 10 move so hopefully can avoid the internal one.

I've felt a little bit, or at least what I think has been some kicks. But I've only felt them up by ribs or sort of on the inside rather than at the front, which now makes sense.

I had an anterior placenta with my last pregnancy and thought that the kicks is been feeling felt similar in where they were.

You'll have to come back and give an update after your 32 week appointment. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I'm really hoping to avoid a C-section as DS will only just be 2 and needs a lot of action and carrying around so the simplistic delivery would be better. If only we actually got a choice eh? Haha.

ElderMillennial · 11/03/2021 18:16

@Warrickdaviesasplates @TiredAlreadyOhDear I was told at 20 week scan I have a low lying placenta too and we had to have an internal scan then which is apparently what our hospital do. I think I posted about it in the group as DH and I were a bit surprised when he asked to do an internal scan...

Warrickdaviesasplates · 11/03/2021 18:24

@ElderMillennial that sounds strange, my hospital said they wouldn't be doing anything until the 32 week scan.

Although I do think mine was lying low but not over the cervix so maybe if yours was very very close they had to do it earlier? But that's just me guessing.

How far along are you now?

ElderMillennial · 11/03/2021 18:34

@Warrickdaviesasplates Mine isn't over the cervix either but it's apparently the policy at this hospital. I seem to have got the only male sonographer too! I'm 23 weeks. I have regular scans with a consultant as well so hopefully she can keep an eye on it too. We saw her this week and she said she didn't think it was that low...

LadySB89 · 11/03/2021 18:39

When I went for my 20 week scan, was also informed I have low placenta and been booked in for a 32 week scan. They didnt say whether it's internal or normal scan.

Littlejacksmummy · 11/03/2021 19:17

Can I join please? Due date 22nd July, a little girl 😍

Had my 20 week scan today. Very reassuring as I have an anterior placenta so wasn't feeling much but she is wriggling away. She must have sensed my worry because last night I felt her move quite a bit.

I will have quite a few scans cos my little boy had iugr and was induced at 37 weeks weighing 4lb 8oz. He will be 19 months when this little one arrives.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 11/03/2021 20:09

@ElderMillennial @Warrickdaviesasplates
I guess all trusts have their own processes - they said mine wasn’t overlapping the cervix but she did say it was touching right on the edge of it so it was very close to overlapping.

They didn’t say I’d 100% have to have an internal they just said if we can’t see from the normal scan that it’s moved enough we will have to do an internal to check.

Kowhai13 · 12/03/2021 13:14

Has anyone else felt really tired in the second trimester? The last week I have felt exhausted and had lots of mild headaches. I take a pregnancy vitamin so don't think Im low in iron and work from home so barely left the house. I thought tiredness and headaches were more of a first trimester thing?

ElderMillennial · 12/03/2021 13:26

I feel tired a lot but I think it's partly the lifestyle of being at home plus disrupted sleep. Eating well, getting an early night as much as poss and sometimes doing something like going for a walk or something active can help. I feel tired often though.

Mrslouu · 12/03/2021 13:38

@ElderMillennial @Kowhai13 20.4 weeks here and absolutely knackered, with headaches every few days. My midwife said my iron is fine and it’s just pregnancy. Also taking pregnacare max.
I’ve also been hugely congested so struggling to sleep but this week Ben using vicks and saline spray and sleeping is easier.
Keeping active here too.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 12/03/2021 13:56

I’m 22 weeks now and just started to feel a bit tired again and haven’t felt tired since about 10 weeks.

I’ve still trying to get out daily and do a few miles walking, I’m also working from home so if I don’t do a walk I don’t get out, but noticed the last few days I am more tired than I have been before.....I’m half dreading the third trimester as I’ve read that’s where you really start to feel tired and exhausted with all the extra weight too!

Kowhai13 · 12/03/2021 14:10

Good to hear Im not the only one. Im a bit congested too and sneezing a lot, overall feel like I have a cold (without the sore throat) but that seems so unlikely seeming I barely leave the house unless its for a walk! Must just be pregnancy!

Fartymcfart · 12/03/2021 16:19

Had my scan today at 20.3wks, all well!

Though didn't get a good picture, as baby wouldn't stay still long enough or show the scanner their face, so took ages to get some measurements. Had to move around loads so she could get the measurements but baby would then shift so they had their back to her.

PeanutButterFalcon · 12/03/2021 16:49

I’m more tired now than I was in my first trimester.

Glad your scan went well.

I think I’m getting braxton hicks at 23 weeks tomorrow. Is anyone else getting them yet? Feel like I’m constantly wanting to ask my midwife things and google tells you nothing definitive.

CoffeeAndCaramel · 12/03/2021 17:11

Glad everyone's scans are going well 🥰
I'm glad a few of you have mentioned the. Tiredness. I'm 21+2 today and the last few days I feel bloody exhausted, I work nights as well and the four hours before I collect my children from school just isn't cutting it. Few early nights I think! Xx

Luckyelephant1 · 12/03/2021 17:17

I'm more tired in the sense that I feel the need to go to bed earlier and sleep longer than usual. But it's a different tiredness to the first trimester, because now when I'm awake I do feel more energetic and up for walking/working out or otherwise being productive. Whereas first trimester I was a zombie the whole time lol.

I thought I was getting SPD and maybe I was but it's so odd. The last couple of weeks I've been generally really achy in the pelvic region and felt like I had a bruised crotch. Yesterday I went for a long walk as I hadn't been out all week, and the ache was worse immediately after and during the night... But today I feel totally fine again- no pelvic or crotch pain. No idea what's going on!

ElderMillennial · 12/03/2021 20:39

@PeanutButterFalcon I think I had braxton hicks once briefly on Sunday night. I felt an uncomfortable tightening, it only lasted a few seconds. I don't remember getting tightening or BH in my first pregnancy. I had a consultant appointment on Monday and so asked her and she said tightening of the uterus can happy all the time for all sorts of reasons and didn't seem to think it was anything to worry about.

@Luckyelephant1 I find my PGP / SPD comes on after a walk, sometimes can last a few days, but often it feels fine when I wake up in the morning. I assume it's because I've had a rest during the night.

isadorapolly · 13/03/2021 11:32

Glad to hear everyone’s scans are going well! I had mine yesterday at 21 weeks and I did find out, it’s a boy! Making that 5 boys and 3 girls in total!

@ElderMillennial I didn’t have BH til I had my third but aren’t they annoying? I’ve found with each pregnancy they’ve started earlier and become stronger quicker.

Have to say I’ve been really tired this week with the kids back at school, but in a good way. It’s nice to be back in a routine, my house feels really quiet and tidy! (And that with a 2 yr old and a 1yr old still at home!)

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 15/03/2021 11:44

Quiet on here!

Ive been a bit up and down this last week. Burst of energy and then completely wiped out!

Passed the 24 week mark this weekend 🥳

CoffeeAndCaramel · 15/03/2021 12:16

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I thought the same, where is everyone!

I'm in the same boat with the tiredness/ burst of energy.. today is not one with a burst of energy. Day off, kids dropped to school and I've been laying on the sofa watching a box set since 🤣

How's every one doing xx

Blossom428 · 15/03/2021 16:19

Hi all,

I'm exactly the same too In terms of up and down with energy. I do feel good in myself though. Can't believe how big I feel already. I'm only small so I feel my backs going to be in bits the further things go on. I'm already getting pains in my hips and lower back.
@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE

I'm 22 weeks on Thursday. Just started planning the nursery 😆
I can't wait for shops to open now!! Pram appointment in April is booked.
