36 weeks and baby is ‘quiet’ today

I normally feel him first thing in the morning when I wake up but I haven’t this morning. I came downstairs and had a coffee (that usually makes him move) he moved slightly (flutters but not as strong as normal) I’ve had a lie down on my left side as this usually gets him moving too but no movement. Is it normal to have ‘quiet’ days? I’ve had 3 growth scans so far and at each scan he has slightly dropped. He started on the 90th percentile and he’s now on the 50th. The doctor wasn’t overly concerned but I have to go back in 12 days for another scan and she said depending on the result of the scan I may need to be induced a little earlier. I will phone triage but I feel a bit silly doing so considering I have had a few fluttersConfused

Glad you're on the monitor and in the right place - they're pretty good at being able to tell if everything is fine. Hopefully baby's heartbeat is OK?

Interestingly when I went in with reduced movements I was having regular tightenings every 3-4 minutes as well - all showing up as over 90 on the trace but I couldn't feel all of them and they weren't painful. I was told to keep an eye on it in case it was the start of labour but it subsided after a few days (this was at 31 weeks so earlier than you). I also had a period of 5-10 minutes where the hearbeat dropped below 110 so it took a while to get the all clear. Definitely something different going on but they're happy it's OK. Hopefully the same for you. I've noticed I don't hear all of the movements on the monitor now that they are more rolls than kicks so maybe they are moving more than we realise - I could actually see my tummy moving at one point but the monitor didn't register anything and weirdly I couldn't feel it either! It is worrying though when you're used to feeling a lot and then get next to nothing.

Hope everythings OK!

drumst1ck · 10/02/2021 17:11

Hope all is okay OP, glad you went in to get checked!

Sparkles556 · 10/02/2021 18:05

Just an update- I have to stay in over night☹️ They aren’t happy with the lack of movements and the fact that the growth scans are showing slow growth, so those two together is what the problem is. Going back on the monitor at 8! Thanks again for the replies x

So glad you posted and phoned in. Hopefully nothing to be concerned about but you’re in the best place now. Positive vibes x

TheFoz · 10/02/2021 18:12

I hope everything goes ok @Sparkles556. What gestation are you at?

cautiouscovidity · 10/02/2021 18:15

How's his heart-rate? I'm glad that they're looking after you and you're in the best place (even though it doesn't feel like it right now)
Thanks

DreamingInColours · 10/02/2021 18:17

You are in the best place and you and baby will be well taken care of. It's great that you noticed and went in.

Pbbananabagel · 10/02/2021 19:16

Good luck OP, you are absolutely in the best place and they can always go in and get your baby out if they need to- don’t be afraid to ask for a C section if you feel baby has the best chance being born early, push for what you need.

motherofdinosau · 10/02/2021 19:17

Good luck & thinking of you xx

RandomMess · 10/02/2021 19:18

So glad you went in!

Always get checked out.

FallingStar · 10/02/2021 19:21

So glad you went in, you're in the best place. Hope everything is ok xx

raspberryjamlove · 10/02/2021 19:46

Thank goodness you went in, sure everything will be fine but you are definitely in the best place. Unlikely I know but I hope you get some rest x

Sparkles556 · 10/02/2021 20:27

@TheFoz thank you! I’m 36+1
@cautiouscovidity thank you and I’m not sure about the heart rate, they never mentioned it so I presume all is fine with that🤞🏼

Thanks again everyone else, not been put back on the monitor yet but I will give an update once I have🙂

Well done OP. I had this a few times right at the end my last pregnancy. Always call them - they never mind. The worst bit is stewing at home. Hope you're feeling a bit more reassured.

bigbird1969 · 10/02/2021 20:41

so glad your being monitored...you were absolutely right to go into hospital

Isadora2007 · 10/02/2021 20:46

Oh how worrying for you. Take care and don’t be afraid to ask to speak to the consultant etc.

digbygreen · 10/02/2021 20:54

Hope you're okay, very glad you went in, you're in the best place

DartmoorDoughnut · 10/02/2021 20:57

Hope you’re both ok and you manage to get some rest

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 10/02/2021 20:59

Glad you went in and they are keeping you in for obs. Did they give you a steroid injection? It speeds up lung development (because for some reason mother nature makes the eyelashes early then leaves the lungs till last, bit daft).

Hope you are ok.

Sparkles556 · 10/02/2021 21:12

Thanks again everyoneSmile just finished on the monitor, have to go on it again in the morning and then take things from there. @BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz no I haven’t had any steroid injections x

The staying over night to go on the monitor is no fun, I had them wake me in the night for one when I was in. I found my little girl had quiet days and I ended up going over due, but did have to be induced as if reduced moment three times after 38 weeks.

I think you did the best thing by going in to be checked, as this is along side the reduced growth. I am sure it's all ok, but keep us updated x

jackieweaverforpm · 10/02/2021 21:15

I remember the hours on those monitors OP. Thinking of you and hoping all is well.

Sparkles556 · 10/02/2021 21:22

@Raindancer411 @jackieweaverforpm thank you bothSmile now looking forward to a sleepless night🙄 But as you’ve all said I’m in the right place x

No harm at that gestation if they have to deliver baby. Hopefully you get a few hours rest tonight 🌺
