36 weeks and baby is ‘quiet’ today

I normally feel him first thing in the morning when I wake up but I haven’t this morning. I came downstairs and had a coffee (that usually makes him move) he moved slightly (flutters but not as strong as normal) I’ve had a lie down on my left side as this usually gets him moving too but no movement. Is it normal to have ‘quiet’ days? I’ve had 3 growth scans so far and at each scan he has slightly dropped. He started on the 90th percentile and he’s now on the 50th. The doctor wasn’t overly concerned but I have to go back in 12 days for another scan and she said depending on the result of the scan I may need to be induced a little earlier. I will phone triage but I feel a bit silly doing so considering I have had a few fluttersConfused

Getting all excited for you now, not long to go! In a matter of hours you’ll have your little one in your arms :)

viques · 26/02/2021 19:07

If you get going tonight and have the baby tomorrow (saturday) then can I be an honorary same birthday auntie?

BrigitsBigKnickers · 26/02/2021 20:20

Oooh me too! It's my birthday tomorrow too!

viques · 26/02/2021 20:22

Happy birthday tomorrow Big Nicks! Have a great day.

Dyra · 26/02/2021 20:27

Fx your cervix was ripe enough to have your waters broken. Hopefully that'll get things moving.

Happy birthday for tomorrow @viques, @BrigitsBigKnickers, and potentially babySparkles!

Crockof · 26/02/2021 20:32

Think baby maybe arriving as I type. Looking forward to hearing all about it.

Crockof · 26/02/2021 20:33

Missing the , completely changed that post.

Worldwide2 · 26/02/2021 20:52

💙 Excited for another update, potentially about the arrival of bubba 🤗

Sparkles556 · 26/02/2021 21:40

@viques of courseGrin happy birthday for tomorrow and you too @BrigitsBigKnickers Cake

Sorry to disappoint you all but no update😭 not a very good one anyway! Doctor was meant to be coming and examining me at 7:30 but a midwife came in not long ago explaining that downstairs (delivery ward) is very busy and he’s the only doctor available😩 she said it’s looking like it’ll be tomorrow by the time he gets to me. In the meantime, I’ve been in pain and been having the most awful pressure in my lower stomach and keep feeling like I need a wee bit when I go not much comes out and it hurts like hell (not stingy or anything just a lot of pressure) I have just rang my partner and my mum and had a big cry to them😒

Oh bless you op, this little one is really taking their time!

The pressure and pain are likely all signs things are progressing, when were you last examined?

AllTheCakes · 26/02/2021 21:50

Poor you, induction is miserable! I hope you can get some rest. Also, take the epidural if offered, especially if you end up on the drip!

Sparkles556 · 26/02/2021 21:55

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I last got examined at 1:30 this afternoon x

@AllTheCakes It really is! Sad Oh I 100% will be doing! I can’t have pethidine as I’m epileptic but as long as I can have an epidural if offered then I’ll be happy

RandomMess · 26/02/2021 21:56

A long drawn out induction is the pits I've had 2 like that!

Thanks
THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 26/02/2021 22:13

Are your pains regular at all op?

If you can rest i would but if not do you have a ball to bounce on?

TheFoz · 26/02/2021 22:27

@Sparkles556 don’t be waiting to have an epidural offered. If you want one tell them you want one.

SunshineCake · 26/02/2021 22:48

@TheFoz

Oh *@Sparkles556* you poor thing! This is really dragging on for you! Hopefully today is the day ❤️ *@SunshineCake* what’s the rhubarb and custard about?
I went into labour after I had some.
Sparkles556 · 26/02/2021 22:50

@RandomMess I literally feel like I’m going to lose the plot soon! I won’t be doing this ever againGrin

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE They were but I have had some codeine and they have seemed to stop now. Yep I’ve got a ball and been using it but it’s too painful at the moment as I’m still having the pressureSad

@TheFoz Oh so I don’t have to wait until it’s offered? That’s made me feel better then

OP posts:
THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 26/02/2021 22:56

Have you mentioned the pressure to a mw? Any chance of anyone examining you?

Inkpaperstars · 26/02/2021 23:02

oh sparkles you poor thing, I wish we could help. It’s hard without your partner there to advocate for you. I am not experienced in this but I don’t think it’s acceptable to just say the doctor won’t get to you till tomorrow. Also you have the right at any time to ask for an epidural, or for a review of the plan.

Hang in there, you’re doing amazing x

Definitely ask! When I was induced with a pessary the bank midwife in ante natal insisted I couldn’t have an epidural until I was more than 1cm. DD was back to back and I’d been screaming the place down in agony for hours. Co-dydramol and pethidine didn’t even take the edge off. I was moved to the labour ward (I think the screaming did it) and lo and behold an epidural was possible. They then broke the waters and I went from 1cm to 10cm in 4 hours. I think my body just relaxed and did what it was supposed to do.
So do insist. Please don’t just suffer in silence! Thinking of you, very best of luck!!

Sparkles556 · 26/02/2021 23:04

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE Yep I’ve mentioned it a couple of times now but all she has said is that it could be a good sign. For some reason I have to wait for a doctor to examine me although I’m not sure why nobody else could

Also, I know pethidine helps some people, but it just scrambled my brain in a really unpleasant way- it did zilch for the pain. So from my point of view it’s no loss not being able to have it.

EarlGreywithLemon · 26/02/2021 23:10

Can you ask her specifically to examine you?

Sparkles556 · 26/02/2021 23:10

@Inkpaperstars I know I wish he could be hereSad Earlier on I was literally shaking in pain gripping onto the bed all to be told that the doctor may not come to me until the morning. I just wanted to scream the place down! It seems so unfairSad I understand and respect the fact that I am not the only person here but I fell like enough is enough now😴 x

@EarlGreywithLemon Oh really? I’ll definitely ask then next time the pain kicks in. The codeine I had earlier seems to have kicked in but it doesn’t half make me feel sickEnvy Thank you x

Maybe your partner could ring the ward and be really firm with them, I know it’s hard to deal with yourself when you are the patient and especially when you are in pain.

You’re not asking too much to be seen and examined, you have every right to get the help and care you need.
