Thought we could continue on here? Unless someone has made a different one.

Poppins2016 · 22/02/2021 15:45

baby was very wriggly*!

FTEngineerM · 22/02/2021 16:01

@Poppins2016 glad the scan went well. I think the date you just they’ll them is 25 weeks(?) legally but whenever you feel comfortable really.

I’m dreading telling work 😬 still on maternity leave and they only backfilled my position at Christmas so they haven’t completely got the hang of the job yet.

@FTEngineerM yep, 25 weeks is the latest... luckily (or unluckily!) I'm the company HR contact so no formalities there, just pondering about when to make it public knowledge. My boss will be happy for me (possibly not keen on the personal upheaval, I'm his PA, but he'll keep it to himself... he survived last time!).

I wonder whether you can frame your news positively in terms of not having to recruit for a different replacement (hopefully the contract/secondment can be extended)?

KHR1 · 22/02/2021 16:15

@Noodles4Me congratulations!

Hope everything goes well with everyone's scans coming up this week!

bewitchingnight · 22/02/2021 16:25

@Poppins2016 great news on your scan!

I was planning on trying to hold out til after the 20 week scan for public knowledge. I'm on furlough at the moment so am going to tell my manager confidentially before I go back so they can do a risk assessment. Non essential retail so I'll probably be about 19 weeks by the time I'm back anyway so that's worked out very well!

Chica1990 · 22/02/2021 17:12

@gigi556 I have fingers crossed for tomorrow!

gigi556 · 22/02/2021 18:03

Thanks everyone for the positive thoughts and kind words

Kirky658 · 22/02/2021 18:28

@poppins2016 glad all went well!

I've been feeling vile today. Had to have a nap at 5pm for an hour - was still at work technically but left my laptop on. I'm exhausted, feeling sick and have a headache that won't shift. Have taken paracetamol which dulled it a bit. I feel very deflated today after the lockdown easing announcement. It may not be very popular but I would rather forgo the pubs opening and be able to see my family in their home. They are my support network and at the minute I'm finding pregnancy really rough to handle. Then there's retail opening 12th April so I don't know how that's going to affect my job. Then I keep thinking about all the things I can't do now I'm pregnant and things I can't eat that I used to enjoy etc and it's just getting me down a bit. Xx

Sophia889 · 22/02/2021 18:53

Hello I've yet to post on here but was on the other September babies group, I'm currently 9 weeks and just wanted to say @Kirky658 you are not alone!! I'm starting to find lockdown particularly tough now I'm pregnant (first time) and seem to constantly be in tears. WFH too, nauseous every day, tired, feel like I look like a big gross mess constantly! Also Feel like I'm not pulling my weight at work as can't seem to stay focused so that's making me feel stressed too.
I just keep trying to think (after a my little crying sessions) that this is not forever, these feelings will pass, and it will get better!! You will be doing amazingly, we are all are, this is bloody hard going!! 😘

Mamabearwhere · 22/02/2021 19:22

Ladies I’m sorry if this is tmi but is anyone else experiencing diarrhoea during the early weeks? I’m 9 weeks and get this really horrible sudden tummy aches followed by loose bowl movements and a sudden heightened nausea. I don’t think it’s a bug because 1) I’m hardly eating anything anyway so can’t imagine getting a bug and 2) it’s been going on for a few weeks. I forgot to mention it to my midwife at my booking in appointment. Just looking for reassurance really as I’m avoiding going on google.

Kirky658 · 22/02/2021 20:12

@sophia889 thank you for your reply hun it is comforting to know I'm not alone ❤️ keep trying to stay as positive as I can do.

Join me too pls

Taybz · 22/02/2021 23:28

@Mamabearwhere I had this for about 2 weeks. It's now been replaced with constipation. I'm not sure which is worse! I think I'd rather have the diarrhoea 😄 Ps googled loads when this happened to me and apparently both are very normal symptoms.

Kirky658 · 23/02/2021 03:30

@mamabearwhere I had this about 6 weeks, midwife says it's really common to be either one way or the other! Your digestive system is completely out of whack x

Mamabearwhere · 23/02/2021 09:37

Ah thank you ladies that makes me feel better @Taybz and @Kirky658

I feel like I’ve got all the crazy symptoms this pregnancy. Looking back now my first two were a breeze, people must have hated me because I always said I loved being pregnant.

CherylLW · 23/02/2021 10:09

Hi, Hope everyone is feeling the best they can ❤️

I was just wondering if anyone has been told they have to have a glucose test later on in pregnancy? I got told I need to have one as my BMI is slightly over 30.... I’ve never been thin but I wouldn’t say I’m huge! I hate BMI as everyone is so different in body shape it’s crazy how one thing like BMI measures everyone the same!

Has anyone ever had one? I’ve heard bad things of a thick drink and then feeling very sick!

Kirky658 · 23/02/2021 10:19

@cheryllw I may have to have one of those because both my parents are type 2 diabetic at my booking appt she did a blood glucose check and sent it off and that was fine. Think it is more to keep an eye on it. She said usually they just do a fasted blood glucose so you don't eat for say 12 hrs then go for the bloods, but she says they aren't doing that atm due to covid. Haha.

I feel awful this morning. For the first time in 10 weeks I actually feel like I am going to physically throw up. I've got the taste in my mouth and everything. Trying to ignore it and focus on work..

CherylLW · 23/02/2021 10:48

@Kirky658 sorry to hear that, it’s horrible isn’t it feeling sick! I do everything I can to ignore it as I hate being sick! For the past week I’ve been reaching at certain smells but luckily no sick.

They have booked me in for one in June! It feels so far off! They said you don’t eat for 12 hours and then you go for bloods, then have this drink and wait 2 hours abs have more bloods. Oh well what will be will be.... maybe I can get it to just under 30 and they will change their mind 🤞🏼🤞🏼😂

Mamabearwhere · 23/02/2021 10:56

@CherylLW I remember doing the glucose test both times before and my BMI is normal and no diabetic history in family. I thought it was routine and everyone has to do it? The drink isn’t too bad, a bit like orange lucozade and you get a bit of sugar rush but that’s it. I wouldn’t worry x

FTEngineerM · 23/02/2021 10:56

@CherylLW I had one last pregnancy and I’ll have to have one this time.

It’s boring as hell and you won’t be able to eat from the evening before until like midday so I was ratty as hell.

GD is just where you body doesn’t adjust the insulin production based on the extra blood volume, it’s not life long or anything but needs management hence them being generous with testing loads of people.

Lots of women were having the same thing done when I went so we were just chatting and talking about preg so far. Reading book/laptop or what ever.

Poppins2016 · 23/02/2021 10:59

@Kirky658 @CherylLW

I had a glucose tolerance test during my last pregnancy (I have PCOS which is an automatic trigger for a GTT).

The worst bit is fasting beforehand (I hate skipping breakfast)! The drink itself wasn't that bad (a bit like very sweet orange squash). I didn't feel unwell at all (but I guess everyone is different, plus I guess whether you can tolerate it might sway how you feel, my result was OK and I didn't have gestational diabetes).

gigi556 · 23/02/2021 11:01

I don't think any of the tests are mandatory. I figured I'm more likely to catch Covid in the waiting room at the hospital over 4 hours than have GD so I declined in the test. It's not until 26 weeks I don't think so you can still change your mind. Or they can test you if they suspect it.

gigi556 · 23/02/2021 11:02

I'm feeling extremely anxious today waiting for my appointment at the EPAU. I've got a strong feeling it's going to be bad news. Trying to distract myself and it's not working 😭

Kirky658 · 23/02/2021 11:05

@gigi556 what time is your appointment hun? ❤️
