@Newmumfeb2021 my baby was breech until 36 weeks. You’ve plenty of time yet. I’ve read somewhere most babies who are breech later on turn at 36 weeks. I’m glad my baby has turned cos I really want to try for a vaginal delivery. Elective caesareans are very chilled and not too scary if that is what happens tho. I don’t like the idea of having a big operation and also the recovery while we’re moving house wouldn’t be ideal!

I really feel the cold too. I couldn’t believe the temperature they said to keep the room at during my antenatal class (17-18 degrees?!).

@IamC I hope you’re not kept waiting much longer! X x x

Hi ladies.

Im still hanging in here lol. Aches have subsided and are managed by paracetamol now. I do have a increase in discharge again tho, mixture of watery and mucusy sweet smelling stuff but it's yellow so I'm not sure if it's fluid or not. Keeping a eye on it today.

How's everyone doing?

Welcome to all our new joins! Hope you are all doing well 😊

In terms of clothes I went from having far too little to far too much. We went out and bought everything we needed, and then family decided to do the same 😂 I like to keep it simple for the first while, white vests and sleepsuits. Keeps the washing a bit easier too lol.

How's everyone's weather today? We have snow and DD is desperate to go out but I'm not feeling it at all today.

Gosh feeling very unorganised now with warm layers 🤦🏽‍♀️id just packed sleep suits, vests and hats. Maybe I need to order a few pram suits that she can wear over the sleep suits!!

I'm also looking out for positive induction stories if anyone has any. Should find out tomorrow when they are likely to induce. @Boymumto4 do you mind me asking why they're inducing you so early? I have a similar due date and find out tomorrow if they'll induce me first week in feb or second week - mines because baby measuring small. Xx

Safxxx · 20/01/2021 13:10

@babbit87 thats great news all is well 😍

Thegirlhasnoname · 20/01/2021 13:10

Clothes wise I’ve just got vests (long and short sleeved), sleep suits with inbuilt scratch mits, hats etc and jackets/cardigans. My firstborn was an October baby and didn’t bother with pram suits or snow suits as we just layered her up so hoping to do the same this time.

Also I can imagine little worse after having a section than trying to quickly take the pram/snow suit off of a newborn to strap into the car seat to come home from hospital!

Safxxx · 20/01/2021 13:19

@Boymumto4 i've always had trouble getting pregnant, but yeah this was quite a suprise lol. You got your hands full with your 4 then, hopefully all goes well 🤞

Just make sure not use the snow/pram suits in the carseat as its quite unsafe. Cosy blankets over the straps once baby is in is the recommendation.

@Thegirlhasnoname that makes me feel a little better. I didn't think to get/pack pram suits because I'd read they cannot go in their car seat in them. I'll maybe stock up with an additional blanket so she's cosy on her journey home xx

jbx10 · 20/01/2021 13:22

@OnNaturesCourse I think that's what I'll do I've packed one blanket but might be best to pack another just in case 😊

OnNaturesCourse · 20/01/2021 13:25

When I took my first home (another winter baby) she was wearing a long sleeve vest, sleep suit with built in mits, cardigan and a small baby jacket with a hat and a hood. Then swaddled in a blanket with a fleece throw over her in my arms. (we have a fixed carseat so not able to cosy her in before leaving) Once we got to the car we just quickly removed the blankets, strapped her in and then used the fleece blanket over her tucked in.

Think I need to make sure I've got plenty of blankets in the car ready!!

Boymumto4 · 20/01/2021 13:34

@jbx10 they are inducing me because he is measuring below the 3rd percentile and I have gestational hypertension. They dont know why any of this is happening so they want baby delivered as soon as its safe.

OnNaturesCourse · 20/01/2021 13:34

You'll get into the habit of always having a blanket or two in the car. DD is 3 and we still have car blankets 😂 it's surprising how handy they become. From picnic blankets, to helping out with potty training accidents to saving you when it starts raining and silly Mum forgot the jackets lol.

@Safxxx this one is 5th child however the eldest isnt mine, hes my husbands, he has ADHD and ASD. Soo yeah, my plate is brimming lol

IamC · 20/01/2021 14:11

Finally home - all looks good to a normal exit! So Friday is on 😬

No more worries about if it's safe, feel very reassured now. Also I had a student midwife take me through the induction process so feel calmer about that too.

Does anyone else find students give you more information / better care? Maybe it's because they have more time on their hands to spend with you. But always been impressed with the student midwives I've come in contact with.

The medical students on the other hand....need to develop their bedside manor. Casually asked me if my partner was the father of the baby 😂 no tact whatsoever.

babbit87 · 20/01/2021 14:44

@IamC omg I cant believe they asked you that! 🤣 let's hope they were just busy and not thinking clearly??!!

So pleased for you that its all go for Friday 😁 you must be so excited now. fingers crossed baby comes smoothly and swiftly. xx

Muriel84 · 20/01/2021 14:50

@IamC so glad you had a better experience! Deary me at that question tho, very tactless! I’ve had good experiences with student midwives too. I was joined by one on her first day last week and let her have a good prod of my belly. I have said no to medical students in labour though. I’m medical and it’s too weird having them there. So is it this Friday you’re being induced then?! X x x

IamC · 20/01/2021 14:51

Excitement is taking a backseat to terror at the moment. Obviously excited for what's to come post birth....but the giving birth part is terrifying me, especially knowing there'll be long stretches of being without my husband before I reach 'active' labour

IamC · 20/01/2021 14:53

Yes @Muriel84 it's this Friday. I've not even written a birth plan yet so there's tonight's task now I have more clarity on what's happening.

Muriel84 · 20/01/2021 14:59

@IamC Eugh so awful your husband can’t be there for the induction. My hospital were letting partners in but not sure if they’ve changed it since new year. I think I’m fairly terrified too. Managing to repress it still... just about. I wrote my birth preferences yesterday. I used the nhs template and the positive birth company template so it is somewhere between the two. The nhs one was a bit sterile whereas the PBC is a bit much. X x x

IamC · 20/01/2021 15:10

@Muriel84 I'll take a look at those sounds like they'll come in handy.

I think denial for as long as possible is the best policy re: birth

jbx10 · 20/01/2021 15:12

@IamC exciting!! Understand how your feeling but I am really glad you are able to go for a natural exit & you've got your induction date. You may be home with your little one before the end of the weekend 😬😬

jbx10 · 20/01/2021 15:13

@Boymumto4 okay I understand. My baby is measuring just below the 10th percentile so they are wanting to induce me early too. Everything else is looking fine though so I'm think she may just be a small baby (I was small) but I'll find out tomorrow how soon they want to induce xx

Boymumto4 · 20/01/2021 15:33

@jbx10 how many weeks are you now? Have you been healthy throughout pregnancy? No other issues apart from her size?

jbx10 · 20/01/2021 15:39

@Boymumto4 I'm 35 weeks now. At my last 33 weeks growth scan they said they'd see how much she'd grown at my next one (tomorrow) then make a decision whether to induce me at 37 weeks or 39 weeks. But yep other than her growth everything else absolutely fine. Even her growth has been consistent, following her own little curve just in with 10th percentile. No other complications xx
