Some positive news today, baby has turned at 35+ :) But MW wasn't 100%, so she said in 2 weeks at my final scan it will be confirmed. But she said most likely I will not need CS. So happy and relieved!

How is everyone else doing today?

jbx10 · 25/01/2021 18:26

@Newmumfeb2021 amazing news!! Glad to hear baby has turned. Was just keep you on your toes! 😂🙈 I think my baby has turned again, I'm glad I'm having growth scans otherwise I wouldn't have a clue where she was. Getting kicks here there and everywhere!

Newmumfeb2021 · 25/01/2021 18:31

@OnNaturesCourse Being FTM, I don't know much but I think you should get checked up. :)

Seems like lots of Feb babies will turn up in Jan :)

@IamC how have you been? Thursday not so far away ..

Newmumfeb2021 · 25/01/2021 18:34

@jbx10 I swear! I have been so anxious all throughout... and I was snapping at DH, and my parents since morning before my appointment as I was really tensed on the direction. I have only ever had kicks on top or right side of my belly. I just hope baby stays this way!! :)

OnNaturesCourse · 25/01/2021 18:48

I was induced with my first.

Got the pessary on Tuesday night at 11pm, I was 37+5, and was dilated to about 2cm already. Pessary came out on Wednesday night about half 10pm and I was at 4cm dilated. Went to L&D around 1am on Thursday, got the drip as my contractions weren't intense enough, waters were broken around 5am and baby was born via forceps at 9am after pushing for hours (baby for stuck and ended up in distress)

I was induced due to reduced movements. (3x since 30 weeks)

The experience was OK up until my waters got broke, things went a bit crazy after that but once baby was here it was fine. I was actually diagnosed with PTSD around 6 months PP, and for a long time I couldn't remember any of the birth at all.

Worth it however as DD definitely wouldn't be here today if we hadn't gotten her out when we did.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like a few of us in the same situation - just need to hope for the best over the next few weeks and that he doesn't need to self isolate!

If he has to though we would just need to suck it up as with his line of work he couldn't be seen to be breaking self isolation rules! My mum is on hand just incase 👍🏽

Piccalily19 · 25/01/2021 19:02

Thanks again everyone, you’ve all helped calm a stressy FTM down a lot!
@IronMummy28 fingers crossed baby gets things started for you before Monday, but you’re totally right- there must be a reason they’re done. Just a shame as I was hoping there would be a chance of water birth but I know with inductions that’s an instant no sadly.
@TheGirlWhoLived that’s good to hear you had a good experience x 2! What pain relief did you end up using? Everyone I know of who’s been induced has said it hurt so badly they had to have an epidural (which is not on my list of ideals if possible!). Please do share anything else that may be useful.
@OnNaturesCourse exciting to hear things are moving for you!
@Newmumfeb2021 so pleased for you too! Good to have some good news x

Safxxx · 25/01/2021 19:05

@pigletpie2177 Awe hope all goes well and you have your little one in your arms soon 🤗
@Newmumfeb2021 great news 🤗
@OnNaturesCourse wow what an experience going thru all that....my first pregnancy i dealt with most of it at home as was clueless, went in at 8cm and then took forever to get baby out, i was put on drips (that made it intense) had my waters broken that too made the contractions faster and more painful. I'm clueless on inductions but when you mentioned the drip bought back memories 😣

jbx10 · 25/01/2021 19:14

Has anyone thought about what they're going to do about family members meeting baby once their here? Will you be letting family come and meet them? It just seems so sad to not let them meet any family xxx

Bambino87 · 25/01/2021 19:23

@jbx10 we are going to have a support bubble with my mum but probably won't let anyone else to be honest. Maybe suggest people can come to the back garden and baby can be in pram (if possible) so no touching but at least they can meet the baby! I've thought about it loads and just not sure I'm comfortable with anything more with the rates being so high but that's just my personal gut feeling xxx

BL89 · 25/01/2021 19:33

@jbx10 where I am you can have asymptomatic COVID tests done with results within the hour - so I'm happy for my in-laws to get tested then meet baby if they get a negative test.

I've got some friends who are out and about too much so won't be introducing baby to them until we both feel more comfortable.

Baby comes first and as it's our first we don't know how we'll feel so it's all subject to change 😅

jbx10 · 25/01/2021 19:39

@Bambino87 @BL89 really good ideas. I think we can get the asymptomatic tests here too. My parents currently test twice a week anyway working in the NHS. Completely understand not wanting them to be held etc. And we also have friends not being as careful so I'm no rush for her to meet them. I was just worried about older grandparents don't want her being a little super spreader passing it to the older family members. Difficult decisions to make and there are just no right or wrong answers but lil baby comes first! Xx

Theonewheretherewas4 · 25/01/2021 19:41

Hi all just been catching up and reading through how everyone is, I’m not due till March 4th but I highly doubt il get that far so hope nobody minds me jumping on this thread. Thought I’d share my positive induction stories. My first labour started with waters breaking but 2+3 were both induced no 3 due to slow growth (papp a related) I had the drip with both and from the moment it started to baby being born was 2 hours for both, yes it was more intense but because they were fairly quick i think I wasn’t too tired to battle through, slight tear and stitches with 2nd but nothing with 3rd and no instruments involved in either. Id actually rather be induced then go naturally with this baby but that’s down to organising childcare for my others in this crazy climate. Hope my experiences help someone feel better about being induced Smile

Safxxx · 25/01/2021 19:45

@jbx10 it is a dilema, will be hard saying no as not to hurt anyones feelings.
But same time us mummies will be so overprotective too.
I think for me immediate fam only like mum/sis/bro rest can wait bit longer 🤞

Safxxx · 25/01/2021 19:50

@Theonewheretherewas4 Ahh thanks for feedback👍🏼 hope your doing well, and who knows you could be a Feb mummy 🤔

Piccalily19 · 25/01/2021 20:01

@jbx10 we’ve decided to slightly bend rules and have both sets of parents and our siblings in our bubble (me and partner are the oldest siblings so all but one of babies aunties live at home still with parents anyway). All but 1 of them are working/studying from home and that 1 gets tested weekly through their job. We trust that they’re being super careful.
Think it’s all down to your choice as a couple, but I have two friends who had babies in lockdown 1 and they said they hugely regret how strict they were about family visits looking back and they missed the support. Friends can wait though and they won’t mind.
@Theonewheretherewas4 2 hours is incredible! Can I ask for more info on your 3rd PAPPa baby, how far along were you? When baby came out were they the size you were expecting/was the placenta looking a bit worse for wear?

pigletpie2177 · 25/01/2021 21:15

Thanks for that @Theonewheretherewas4 - did you have the epidural with the drip? My consultant has suggested I just have epidural straight away if we get that far. It would preclude any water from that point but they are twitchy about that anyway as I'm vbac 😔

jbx10 · 25/01/2021 22:08

@Safxxx @Piccalily19 I think we will probably look to do similar it'll be nice for the support. An for immediate family to see her, I'm not so worried about friends they can wait a little bit longer.

@Piccalily19 are you currently taking anything for your PAPPA? I've been told to take 150mg of aspirin each day but wondering when I should probably stop taking that. Xx

Thegirlhasnoname · 25/01/2021 22:31

Spoiler alert: they weren’t Braxton hicks and I’d got to 6cm. The tea/toast is as good as people say

wannabe123 · 25/01/2021 22:59

@thegirlhasnoname does this mean what I think it does? Congratulations!

Safxxx · 25/01/2021 23:07

@Thegirlhasnoname Hey 1st Jan baby on the way 🤗❤❤

Thegirlhasnoname · 25/01/2021 23:23

Definitely means what you think it does!

His due date wasn’t until the 11th and I had a section booked for the 4th. the best laid plans go to waste apparently 😂 currently have 7lb of newborn fast asleep on my chest (estimated at 5lb15oz at last scan on 35+6 so not a bad weight at all for 37+4 I think). Now we just have to think of a name...

Char41zam · 25/01/2021 23:46

Congratulation @Thegirlhasnoname! That’s lovely xx

Safxxx · 26/01/2021 00:26

@Thegirlhasnoname Many many congrats beautiful weight ❤🎉🎈🎉🎁

Piccalily19 · 26/01/2021 06:25

@Thegirlhasnoname yay!! Massive congrats, please do let us know the name (and maybe a picture if you’re happy sharing!) when you can ☺️🎊
@jbx10 nope nothing! They said they don’t advise anything at my hospital trust :/
