@TerryRose Aww that's a lovely picture! Makes me want a 3d scan.

BabyA2021 · 07/03/2021 01:06

Is anyone else experiencing horrible nipple pain especially when outdoors in the cold?? It’s so painful, I’ve started moisturising my nipples before I go out for walks. My boobs are massive mow, I’ve gone up 3 bra sizes. Luckily I’ve been WFH so I’m only wearing bras when I go out for walks

Also I’m suddenly very hungry this week but my indigestion is back. Doesn’t stop me from stuffing my face though lol

Humpty11 · 07/03/2021 06:35

@Sitchervice I’ll let you know what they say but it’s probably too early to tell.
Unfortunately there are lots of first time mums who have had to go through it all alone and I feel for everyone, especially the ones that are receiving bad news but I don’t think the hospital can be blamed for that. They have to have a blanket set of rules otherwise they’d never get it right.
Let’s hope things change as restrictions are lifted and by June our current worries won’t matter anymore 🤞🏼.

Humpty11 · 07/03/2021 06:43

@Sitchervice actually if you google it they answer all the questions on their website.
www.gwh.nhs.uk/wards-and-services/a-to-z/maternity-services/coronavirus-(covid-19)-further-information/frequently-asked-questions/

please be assured that you do not have to be at a particular stage of labour for your partner to be with you

If you are not in labour and able to do so, please wear a mask

If that’s the rules now while we’re still in lockdown then I’m sure by the time the summer comes there will be no doubt that the birthing partner can stay the whole time. I hope this eases some anxiety around it all for you x

PinkPlantCase · 07/03/2021 07:52

At my hospital partners still aren’t allowed at any scans, can only come in for active labour and aren’t allowed on the post natal wards at all.

I think this will change though with more mass testing. I’m planning a home birth anyway and the midwifes say that they’re now already using lateral flow tests when they first arrive. If it’s positive but we’re asymptotic then everything can carry on as planned but the midwives wear extra PPE. If it’s negative then I think my partner doesn’t have to wear a mask. Obviously if I’m positive and I’m unwell then I’ll have to go to hospital.

There’s been talk of allowing partners at the 20 week scan providing they can prove they’ve had a negative test that same day but I’m not sure when that’ll come in.

AlRRRR · 07/03/2021 08:16

It’s crazy how things differ from region to region, in Yorkshire, we’ve always been in the highest tier and still to have quite higher than average numbers but yet my hospital hasn’t had all these restrictions, and I had my 12 wk in Dec and 20 week in Feb. They allowed 2 partners from Sept to Jan and now just 1 but it’s for the entire of labour and they can stay afterwards providing you’re in a single room like at a birth centre. Not sure on a ward type situation.

@PinkPlantCase I was considering a home birth, well between that and the local birth centre, no body has mentioned anything about tests yet, we had a dedicated home birth service until December but it’s on hold. Is it your 1st baby or not? x

BlondePotter · 07/03/2021 09:50

@PinkPlantCase that's such a shame, have you considered a home birth instead?

I'm in Hampshire and have been allowed partner for scans, not sure at what exact point of labour he is allowed in but visiting hours after are 8-8 but once he's in at 8am he would have to stay there, can't go out and back in again.

It is crazy how there's no consistency. Not fair at all.

@babya2021 I'm there with you on the nipples, so glad it's been warming up! But mind have been dry, flaky and itchy since about 14 weeks 😭 using Lansinoh regularly but the right one just stays crusty unfortunately

PinkPlantCase · 07/03/2021 11:36

@AlRRRR @BlondePotter I’ve been planning a Homebirth from the start anyway Smile

It’s my first baby, the dedicated Homebirth service here is still going strong. They come to my house for all of the midwife appointments apart from scans obviously.

I’m just aware that there’s a decent chance that I may need to transfer into hospital anyway so I’m worried about the post natal ward and DH potentially not being able to help when I’m there. I think things will be different by June though so fingers crossed!

Nesski · 07/03/2021 20:08

So I think I'm a couple of weeks from not being able to see my toes, anybody else?? I don't otherwise feel massive but when I see myself in the mirror or Windows I feel HUGE

Jinglebells87 · 07/03/2021 20:28

Urgh! Am I being a bit of a diva or are all the shops lacking nursing nightwear!!? I just want a simple, cheap nursing nightdress (2 actually!). I saw some online at Asda at the beginning of the year and stupidly left it too late and they sold out. Now I can't find anything anywhere!
I don't want pjs, I don't want sleeves, I just want a simple nightdress that I can easily whip my boob out!! Anyone found anything? Confused

Nesski · 07/03/2021 21:46

@Jinglebells87 I'm looking too and can't find anything!!

TerryRose · 07/03/2021 23:43

Apologies if this is too much info but anyone else experiencing pregnancy piles 🙈🙈 they aren't painful at the moment but assuming that will change as time goes on, I know it's a really common thing during pregnancy but was hoping it wouldn't happen to me 🙈 I keep reading conflicting advice about Anusol cream, I've seen online you shouldn't use when pregnant but then see posts where people say their doctors prescribed it to them so not sure should I get onto my doctor or just ask a pharmacist what to do 🙈🙈 the joys of it all 🤪🤣

TerryRose · 07/03/2021 23:44

@Jinglebells87 yup same problem here in Ireland even trying to find slippers and dressing gowns 🤪 the sooner Primark/Penney's opens back up the better

MelissaAnn92 · 08/03/2021 02:18

My latest problem during the night ( 2am now ) is waking up feeling starving, making something cos I feel so hungry in sick then feeling sick straight after eating. Baby must take all reserves Hmm now wide awake!!! Arghhh

Waitingforbabypage · 08/03/2021 02:36

@Nesski yup! I feel like a whale! However, saying that, I have never felt more body positive than I do at the moment- I'm a fuller figured gal, size 20 bum and big boobs and I'm normally trying to flatter my figure but I am completely in love with my tummy at the moment- just need to remember this love after I give birth! Haha!

@Jinglebells87 samesies! Got a couple of nighties from asda though and the fit is terrible! Has a cross over front section for nursing but despite going up a size to make sure it all fits, the chest part is too narrow and I end up with either my boobs trying to escape from the armholes or the band that's meant to sit under the bust making it's way across my chest making them very unflattering 🤣

Ahhhh @MelissaAnn92 same! I'm either hungry or very uncomfortable, tonight it is being uncomfortable. Baby seems to be really low and causing pressure somewhere.
(Also my cat is making a daft amount of noise tonight but that's a different whinge haha) xx

TerryRose · 08/03/2021 11:42

@MelissaAnn92 same here so I keep a banana by the bed or sometimes two and that seems to work , I wouldn't even feel like eating but I make myself eat one and feel better as soon as I do.

Anyone absolutely sick of going to the bathroom 🤣🤣 I'm like if I have to go into that bloody room one more time 🤪🤪

BlondePotter · 08/03/2021 12:02

@TerryRose no piles but constipation so I may end up with them!
I'm pretty bad at keeping my water levels up though, which would help the constipation

My new thing is an itchy sore rash on my upper inner thighs! I've got some new stretch marks above there so wonder if it's just where the skin is stretching

June 2021 - part 4!
DollyParton2 · 08/03/2021 12:52

I got piles after birth. Doughnut cushions all the way! Feeling massive Nesski both bump & my weight gain... too many pastries & MaccyDs... need to cut back on the beige food!

TerryRose · 08/03/2021 13:42

@BlondePotter yeah I have constipation as well so assuming that's what caused them! I must try those cushions 👍
I had a rash like that on my tummy actually used bio oil and seemed to clear it up

Jinglebells87 · 08/03/2021 14:53

I'm glad it's not only me struggling to find suitable nursing nightwear! @Waitingforbabypage your comment about your boobs trying to escape made me chuckle! Lol.
Although some bits were overpriced, I actually miss Mothercare a lot!
Entering the third trimester now and boy do I feel it! The PGP is a sodding nightmare. I'm struggling to move around. The pain is constant. My belly is huge and gets in the way all the time (I've had to admit defeat on all the flat pack furniture I still have to make and have asked my sister to help me!). Acid reflux is really starting to get on my nerves!
I had my glucose test last week and they lost my blood samples so I had to go back again last Friday for more blood tests and more sitting in hospital waiting rooms for hours!!

I wish I could say I'm enjoying this pregnancy but third time round I'm just not! Only 12 weeks to go ....woohooGrin!!!!

AlRRRR · 08/03/2021 17:00

Not sure how helpful this can be for people who have constipation (I used to be an IBS constipation sufferer from age 16-21).

I drink a freshly squeezed orange juice with the pulp and add a tablespoon of flaxseed to it every morning. Every 2 days I also use that juice to make a smoothie (with pulp/skin) with 80% veg, 20% fruit, and add nuts/seeds/chia into that.

I do only eat organic as that’s what finally made my IBS clear (not saying you have to at all, just what helped me!) I also have a home made turmeric, ginger, cayenne pepper, lemon and honey drink every morning too. It seems to really work for me, just thought I’d share in case it helps anyone else x

Nesski · 08/03/2021 20:13

Constipated too! So I chowed down about 7 prunes (I count because the first time I used this method I had 10 and it gave me explosive diarrhea, magic number to avoid) and voila, managed to go today! I had piles maybe a couple of weeks ago but it went luckily, I'm sure it'll come back!

Waitingforbabypage · 09/03/2021 13:21

@Jinglebells87 ah I hear you on the pgp. It is kicking my butt these past few days, I was in tears last night because it was hurting so bad. Struggled to get up the stairs to bed and all sorts 😔

Doesnt feel that long ago we were all counting up to 12 weeks...now we're counting down from 12 weeks! I cannot wait to meet this little one.
And for the most part have my body back to myself.

I've enjoyed this pregnancy, I am in constant awe of my body being able to do what it does and I love my "little" (haha) belly. But my goodness what I would give to sleep on my front again!! 😂😂😂

Nesski · 09/03/2021 14:17

@Waitingforbabypage preach to the front sleeping, or just sleeping in any position without having to worry! Counting down the weeks until I'm off work!!

Waitingforbabypage · 10/03/2021 08:43

I am feeling so out of sorts today.
I feel nauseous, I'm in pain with spd, but having cramps below my belly button, I keep having the pressure in my bum like I need to poop but I don't.
Baby is still active and wriggling away in there but I just don't feel "right"
This is my third baby, I should know what's occurring by now but I don't think I've felt like this before. Should I be ringing someone do you think?
