@Daffodil21 thanks xx could it be that I took it too early and prevented ovulation from happening? I even double checked with the nurses re when I should take it and they said to start it the night I get a static smiley. But since you ovulate 24-48 hours after the positive ovulation test, shouldn’t I be taking it later? Can I ask what you were told to do?
Of course you could be right and it could just be one of those things xxx

Daffodil21 · 07/02/2021 20:27

@FruitandNut1 to be honest I free styled it... I'm not with dr S or anyone similar. I had a video consultation with a dr who prescribed me the pred for third pregnancy, and when that failed I had some left over. I started reading 'is your body baby ready' by dr bear and in it said about taking pred 2dpo at a lower dose, which is what I did. I then took the cyclogest from about 5dpo, as I had some brown spotting so I thought it was either implantation bleeding or a drop in progesterone, so either way I thought I had better start the cyclogest. I was lucky to conceive again straight away, and an NHS consultant was then happy to prescribe the pred and the cyclogest (I didn't have enough left over to see me through).

I'm afraid I can't answer your question about taking cyclogest before ovulation, but I've always read that it should be after, which I guess makes sense as naturally your progesterone increases after ovulation?

Daffodil21 · 07/02/2021 20:28

@FruitandNut1 just re-read your post and seen that the nurses said to take from static. I'm a cut surprised by that but I am in no way qualified to disagree!! Could you ask the consultant?

KtAgs · 07/02/2021 21:12

Hi @FruitandNut1, my plan said I was to take cyclogest after ovulation. The month I got pregnant I got a positive ovulation test one day and then a temp rise the day after so waited two days after that before taking my cyclogest. My understanding is that the progesterone helps nourish the lining ready for pregnancy and makes it more fussy (which can be helpful for those of us who are super fertile as you only want euploid embryos to implant). So like @Daffodil21 it makes sense to take after ovulation. But perhaps check with the nurses again? Did you have a sheet that says 'My Plan' as that usually cleared up questions for me. Sorry it isn't your month. Good luck for next and take care. X

FruitandNut1 · 07/02/2021 21:32

@Daffodil21
@KtAgs I just checked my protocol again and it says cyclogest to be taken “at the time of ovulation”. I agree that it makes sense to take it after ovulation which is why I double checked via email Sad
Can I ask, did you ttc before taking cyclogest or only after you knew for sure you had ovulated? I’ve never done temperature checks, is there any other way to pin point ovulation exactly? So far I’ve only used the clear blue ovulation kits.
I’m going to call the clinic tomorrow but honestly I was heartbroken last week and the possibility that this could’ve been avoided is upsetting. Thank you xxxx

Daffodil21 · 07/02/2021 22:08

@FruitandNut1 I wasn't planning on taking the cyclogest until I got a bfp, so I just TTC as usual. The only reason I decided to take it was because I had brown spotting from around 5dpo, but I have since read it's good to take before a bfp

Tinpo · 07/02/2021 22:10

Thanks @Daffodil21 and @FruitandNut1 - glad I’m not unreasonable for being upset by the announcement. She’s not a friend, just someone I sort of know, so I will block and ignore!

I was told to take cyclogest from ovulation. I was still getting ovulation pains the day after static smiley so waited until the next day, but never had any actual guidance about when exactly to start.

So sorry you’re upset about this month FruitandNut1 - every month does feel like an eternity when ttc so I understand, especially when you’re used to falling pregnant first time. I was the same - first three pregnancies I fell on the first month on trying and then my last one took about 3/4 months.

NICK7nick7 · 07/02/2021 23:05

@FruitandNut1 sorry that you are feeling disappointed. I’m with Dr S and I take it the day after getting solid smiley. That’s what the nurses advised to me when I asked what ‘from ovulation’ meant. I’m usually super fertile and got pregnant on the first cycle the first time I tried with Dr S and then 4th cycle the second time (with my current pregnancy. I understand that the cyclogest makes your body more fussy as to what egg it accepts which is apparently a good thing when super fertile to try to avoid a loss due to chromosomal difficulties. Xx

KtAgs · 07/02/2021 23:26

Hi @fruitandNut1 I think the protocol can be really confusing and sometimes ovulation sticks can be a little off (for me at least). That's why i doubled up with both techniques and felt I should wait until I was sure I'd ovulated. Tbh I don't know how much difference to your conception chances it would make taking it when you said but you could ask the clinic? I also got pregnant on my 4th cycle with Mr S - after every day sex either a few days either side ovulating so I know it can take a bit of time but it feels forever when you're in it. Especially if you usually get pregnant first go. I found my TTC cycles with Mr S really emotional and confusing - especially with the pred. So go gently with yourself Xx

NICK7nick7 · 09/02/2021 11:15

Has anyone else had heart palpitations and high heart rate during pregnancy? Dr S isn’t sure if it’s the steroids or something else. I’ve got an appointment with my GP today to see if they can refer me for an ECG and the nurses at Dr S also did a blood test to check if it was my thyroid causing it. I’m not meant to be starting to wean off of steroids until 14 weeks (currently 11.5 weeks) so just wondering what this is all means.

Daffodil21 · 09/02/2021 15:01

I've just had my blood results back, and it's showing rhesus negative. The midwives assured me that this is still ok, and can be treated with an anti d injection if needed but my brain is trying to connect the dots, and I'm wondering if this could be linked to an autoimmune response?

Does anyone have any knowledge on this? I'm trying not to make 2+2=5!!

@NICK7nick7 I've occasionally had palpitations, where I just feel like I need to sit down for a minutes. Probably happened about 3 or 4 times

Daffodil21 · 09/02/2021 15:21

Scratch that. I just called the midwife and I have misunderstood my results - I'm Rhesus positive

LRL12 · 09/02/2021 18:50

I’m Rhesus negative and it doesn’t effect auto immune at all, just means you need anti D injection at 28wks and when baby is born if baby’s blood is Rhesus positive. X

Daffodil21 · 09/02/2021 18:59

@LRL12 good to know, thank you. The midwives explained that when they took the bloods, then my brain went into overdrive when I misread my bloods. I ended up doing lots of googling (I know I know) and thought I'd better call the midwife and actually check. Lesson learned!!

Finleysmom84 · 10/02/2021 10:06

Hi ladies . I haven’t posted much on this thread but have popped up on others . I’ve had 5 early losses and have got a prescription of hydroxy to take from Amanda tozer .

Thing is now I’ve got it I feel really hesitant about taking it as I haven’t actually had any immune testing done, ( im having a biopsy with prof Brosens tomorrow)

I just feel funny about taking meds I may not need need 🤯🤯

I’m just wondering What others would do in this situation? X

LaurenAB94 · 10/02/2021 15:59

Hi everyone I've been a bit quite these last few weeks as been unwell I had Covid while I was early pregnant and was so anxious. I've had my
8week scan today and all is fine baby measuring on date and HR 171 so I'm very pleased.
I missed my 6week scan as I had to isolate.
I'm so relieved.

Daffodil21 · 10/02/2021 18:15

@Finleysmom84 I have no idea about hydroxy at all, but I'm currently taking prednisolone and no idea if I need it as I haven't had the tests. I'm 14 weeks tomorrow (never thought I would say that, it's the furthest by far we've got after 3 losses), obviously nothing is guaranteed but so far so good.

I'm afraid I can't answer anything on hydroxy as I don't know what it does/side effects etc but for me taking the prednisolone was worth a go and I'm so glad I have.

@LaurenAB94 so sorry you've had covid, hope you're on the mend now. That must have been so scary whilst pregnant. Fantastic news about your scan!

LRL12 · 10/02/2021 18:16

Great news @LaurenAB94 hope your feeling better x

LaurenAB94 · 10/02/2021 20:45

@Daffodil21 @LRL12 thanks I'm all better now just relieved baby is ok too xx

Morning all. So I’m 10DPO and had my bfp today. Feeling tentatively excited to get the whole process started but realised I don’t actually associate a positive test with a baby anymore. I can’t let myself think that far ahead.

I called and booked my first intralipids. I was hoping to get in on Monday as it’s my day off, but she said it wasn’t available. So I’m booked in for Tuesday but she said they would rather I got them today or tomorrow so it was within four days. Unfortunately distance and work means that’s not possible, so now I’m a bit worried. When did everyone else get their first intralipids? I haven’t been having them at ovulation, but have been ok hydroxy since early December and started pred today.

Daffodil21 · 11/02/2021 09:38

Yes @Tinpo !!! Fingers crossed for you ❤️ definitely understand the not associating a bfp with a baby thing. Can't advise on the intralipids at all but keeping everything crossed for you and wishing you all the best. Remember you are under the best care ❤️

Tinpo · 11/02/2021 12:57

Thank you @Daffodil21 - it’s so good to have this group for support ❤️

LaurenAB94 · 11/02/2021 16:45

@Tinpo hi a tentative congratulations. I completely understand even now I don't trust pregnancy tests to say how baby is doing. They said the same to me. I got my
BFP on Saturday and had my intralipids on Wednesday I wanted them on Thursday but they said that would be too long, I did have ovulation intralipids though.
Just so you know whatever date you have your intralipids you'll have to have them on that day every time you can have them early but not late.

Shame they can't do them Monday, could they do them at the other clinic on Monday maybe ?

Tinpo · 11/02/2021 20:09

Thanks @LaurenAB94 - yeah future ones won’t be a problem, but the sudden need to get down there for the first is a pain! I’m not sure what the deal with Mondays is - it’s my day off work so I was really counting on being able to get appointments then, but she just said not Monday but they would do anything possible to fit me in today or tomorrow.

Hope all is going well for you!

LaurenAB94 · 12/02/2021 13:18

@Tinpo hope you managed to get sorted xx
