@CherryO88 I'm so so sorry to read this. How awful for you to have to deal with after everything else you've had to deal with ❤️

treesall · 30/06/2021 22:50

@CherryO88 I'm so so sorry to read your update. When do you get the Harmony results? Sending you all the positive vibes. I have everything crossed for you that it's not what they think.

CherryO88 · 01/07/2021 12:30

@treesall I rang the lab today and they said results will be reported 6th-8th July. Which feels far too long to wait. I am absolutely devastated, and I can’t stop crying. This is all just so unfair

Leapfrog123 · 01/07/2021 16:45

@CherryO88 I’m new to the thread but I just wanted to say I’m so so sorry to hear about your news. Sending you lots of strength.

I have a question for those of you on this thread. Sorry if this has been answered before. I’m an ex pred thread participant who’s NC for this. Just wondering if any of you who have been diagnosed with high or aggressive NK cells as the reason for your losses has had any of the Covid jabs? Have any of them impacted on your NK cell levels? I’m trying to conceive again (currently in the midst of yet another MC) have already had Covid and am debating about getting the jab or not. I’m very home based and don’t interface with anyone for the time being so I’m not much (if any) of a transmission risk.

treesall · 01/07/2021 17:15

@CherryO88 urgh that is going to be a few days of pure hell for you, I'm so sorry you're in this situation. Be kind to yourself, try and distract yourself (I know, impossible).

@Leapfrog123 I will probably get lynched on here for this, but I am not having the covid jab any time soon. My miscarriages have been diagnosed as due to aggressive / overactive nk cells, meaning my immune system is somewhat broken, and I have no wish to do something which will further interfere with it. I am very suspicious of the number of people who have immune conditions impacting pregnancy and I do wonder why. Im by no means an anti-Vaxxer but I do wonder whether on some level the vaccines we have (which are wonderful and of course save lives) do have secondary / indirect consequences. I've done oodles of research on this, spent hours and hours weighing up the decision but I don't wish to have the vaccine at the moment. I know I may get covid, but given my age and health it's statistically unlikely to be serious for me and therefore I don't want it at the moment. It's a risk I'm willing to take. I will say though that Dr S is not impressed with my decision!

treesall · 01/07/2021 17:18

P.s. @Leapfrog123 I'm so sorry you're miscarrying :-(.

Leapfrog123 · 01/07/2021 17:33

@treesall thank you so much for your thoughts. This is exactly my concern. And I’m also usually pro v, but in this instance in my current state I feel concerned that it would ramp up my system even more. Interesting that Mr S is pro though. Does he have a reason for that? Surely stimulating the immune system when his whole programme is about calming them down is counter intuitive. Or am I missing something? If anyone sees Mr S any time soon would you mind asking?! I’m finding it hard to get an appointment.

And thank you for the well wishes. I’m pretty battle hardened by this point but it’s still very sad.

bluepixie · 02/07/2021 08:34

@Leapfrog123
I been following this thread and not really posted but just wanted to mention I have high nk and agressive nk and a history of mc (six) and took the covid jab and am
Pregnant (only 8.5 weeks atm) .My view was that getting covid in pregnancy isn’t a good idea esp if your later on there are risks to me and baby so I wanted to protect any future pregnancy. Just wanted to let you know my thoughts ! I would rather have it before pregnancy rather than in pregnancy (though would have taken it later in pregnancy anyways but still prefer ive had it prior) so I took it as soon as I was offered it

Leapfrog123 · 02/07/2021 09:59

@Cream123 thank you for your message. That’s good to hear! I would be very interested to know the specifics of what the jab does to NK cells though. That has always been the key issue for me and I can’t imagine that anything designed to activate the immune system would calm them down. But if anyone has a chance to ask Mr S I’d love to hear why he thinks it’s such a good idea (especially for those who have already had Covid)

bluepixie · 02/07/2021 12:37

@Leapfrog123 I think it’s because the risk of covid in pregnancy pRob doesn’t outweigh the possible small chance of activating your nk cells for a short time. They won’t know exactly what the jab will do to nk cells with it being a new vaccine and hardly much known about nk cells anyway. Mr shehata won’t be able to say for certain the effects but I’m sure he’s got plenty of patients who have had the vaccine and get pregnant and not miscarrying hence he advocates it. But I’m just guessing!

Leapfrog123 · 02/07/2021 12:40

@Cream123yws you’re probably right. I’m sure it’s fine. I just wish there was some trial data. Hopefully sometime soon there will be a trail involving a significant amount of pregnant and breastfeeding women

treesall · 02/07/2021 12:45

@Leapfrog123 I'm sure it would be fine for you to have it. They wouldn't be recommending / approving it if there were any concerns around the safety for pregnant women.

My own concern is more around very long term effects (I.e. 5-10 years etc) and not specifically linked to imminent fertility.

Leapfrog123 · 02/07/2021 12:58

Yes I hope so. My issue is that we are such a tiny micro percentage of “pregnant women”. I’m sure the vast majority of women would be totally fine with it. Those who don’t have underlying autoimmune issues. It’s the combination of the fact that reproductive immunology is SUCH a small and poorly understood field, and the fact that public health is by definition about the greatest good of the greatest number. So it’s highly unlikely anyone will have looked yet at the small and poorly understood cohort we are talking about here. And it’s not just about getting pregnant. It’s about the fact that whilst TTC there’s a chance I could be pregnant at the point of getting the jab, and the first 12 weeks are such a sensitive period. I’m just unsure and every official document I’ve read says ‘there is no data. It’s probably ok but we don’t know’ kind of thing.

Rainbowdreams1983 · 02/07/2021 15:19

@treesall @leapfrog @Cream123 I have found this topic of conversation really interesting as I had similar thoughts. However I was lucky in that working for the NHS I got my first jab start Jan and 2nd in March at which time we were not ttc as I wanted further tests first. I have very high NK cell activity. I'm under Dr S and ttc. I think having the jab is a personal choice and even harder when you are trying to weigh everything up around ttc and effect on autoimmune issues. However for me if I hadn't had the jab I would be even more anxious than I am already of catching covid19 when pregnant and that causing another miscarriage. We have had 5. Xx

Rainbowdreams1983 · 02/07/2021 15:20

@cream123 congratulations on your pregnancy

Daffodil21 · 02/07/2021 18:13

Very interesting and reassuring to see that dr s does recommends it while TTC under these circumstances. I had my vaccine at 27 weeks and have my second booked for next week when I will be 35 weeks. It was such a hard decision to make, and I still don't know if it was the right thing to do. Everything still looks ok but like @treesall I'm more worried about long term effects that aren't known yet.

When I was researching it, I said exactly the same thing as you @Leapfrog123 , that I don't feel like I compare equally to a 'normal pregnant woman'. I'm still a little surprised at myself for taking it tbh, and I really hope I dont end up regretting it. Cases in our area rapidly increased and the risk of catching COVID in the third trimester, when it is most dangerous suddenly became very real, and I can't completely isolate because my husband can't wfh and I have regular hospital appointments. Anyway, I'm rambling now, but it's interesting to see his view. I wonder what it is during pregnancy.

Also, as I've mentioned before on this thread, I don't know sure if I have immune issues - it could just be the progesterone that helped this time, and not the pred.

It's really annoying that they aren't doing any research on the women who have taken it in pregnancy. I figured as I've decided to, I may as well be included in research so we have more info for the future, but there doesn't seem to be anything about except for the yellow card thing

Fornalutxa · 02/07/2021 22:04

Oh @CherryO88 I’m so sorry for the situation you find yourself in.

Introducing myself here. I’m an alumni of Prof Brosens at Coventry. Had 4 early losses before having my son last year after using Pred & progesterone.

Sadly I’m currently going through a 5th loss… an MMC this time, picked up at 8 weeks, despite using the same protocol. I’m absolutely gutted and it’s proving to be a really awful experience.

I’ve had two doses of misoprostol now but nothing has happened. Id been keen to avoid a procedure because I already have scarring from endometriosis & the general inhospitable wasteland of my uterus makes me really nervous about doing anything invasive in there but it feels like I might not have any other option? Has anyone has misoprostol fail to work? What did you do?

treesall · 03/07/2021 07:56

I'm so sorry @Fornalutxa that just be extra devastating to happen when you're on the medication which has worked previously.

I had misoprostal for my first loss and it did partially work (passed sac and embryo) but didn't bleed much and it turned out it had left almost all the pregnancy tissue except the actual sac. I had to have an MVA. They did offer me a second dose (but told me it's not very effective for retainer products, so I didn't bother).

treesall · 03/07/2021 08:04

I totally thought I was out but I have a squinter this morning! Supposed to stop taking progesterone today if not pregnant but this is so faint I'm not even sure it's a real line. It's very very very faint for 10dpo (I normally have a clear line at this point). Argh my heart is racing.

VenusStarr · 03/07/2021 10:56

Hi @Fornalutxa I'm so sorry ❤️ I've had 3 MMCs but only needed misoprostal for my 3rd and it worked. I understand your concerns about surgery but I think the technique they use in an mva is gentler. I hope you can have this little one tested.
I saw Professor B before I moved onto Dr Shehata, my uterine nk cells were norm but I still had another loss. Sending love.

@CherryO88 I am so sorry you have this worry ❤️ sending you lots of love, it's very cruel xx

Gentle congratulations @treesall 🤞

I hope your last day went as well as it could @Badlydrawngirly how are you feeling? I saw your nk biopsy results were normal - are you doing another for comparison, or is it just the one? My second with Professor B came out very low, so I can have another one and if its low again there's some treatment, but I think it was a fluke.

Hope you're getting on OK @Luckyducky2 are you close to transfer now? 🤞

@Tumby not quite my birthday yet, end of August is mine. We were chatting about birthdays and I forgot that my dh is 40 next year - recurrent miscarriage and infertility has taken so much of our life 😢 and it's jot over yet. Hope you're doing OK.

How are you @Rainbowdreams1983?

Pleased to hear all is well @Cream123

Hope you're getting on OK @Unicorn9

Hope you're feeling well @Daffodil21, getting close now 🥰

Sorry if I've missed anyone. Had a good break away, although I do feel flat in general. My period finally arrived on Thursday, incredibly painful but not too heavy. I've got another call with my ivf doctor on Monday to discuss Dr Shehata's view on my most recent loss and that I should do the era, emma and Alice test on a mock cycle and scrap the hysteroscopy. I suspect as I'm on my period now, we'll plan it for my next cycle, so not looking like I'll transfer until September / October. I'm going to use the time to try and lose weight - I don't know if it's the ivf meds and steroids combo but I'm feeling really big and uncomfortable. Xx

Rainbowdreams1983 · 03/07/2021 12:07

@venusstarr I'm glad you had a nice break away. The flat feeling after loss is horrible. I hope your appointment Monday goes well. I felt really big after being on steroids during our last pregnancy and have struggled to lose weight since all our losses. I think recurrent loss wreaks havoc on our hormones which in turn effects our weight. I'm a stone heavier that before we started and no matter what I do can't seem to shift it. I'm doing the best I can and that's all I can do. We are ttc again and hoping for more luck this cycle. On annual leave now for a week which is much needed. Work has been so busy and tiring.

Xxxx

Fornalutxa · 03/07/2021 21:38

Eeek @treesall that’s so exciting! What tests are you using? Hopefully you get a clear one tomorrow 🤞

treesall · 03/07/2021 21:52

The proper ones were both first response - one early detection and one rapid result. (Just what I had in the cupboard!).

I've done a million cheapies today too. I know it's stupid and pointless but I can't help myself. I am getting very very very faint squinter lines on those too. But I am fairly confident this will be a chemical. Fingers crossed it's not. X

Daffodil21 · 03/07/2021 21:57

@treesall everything crossed for you!!

treesall · 04/07/2021 08:35

Thank you @Daffodil21

Eeeeeeeeeek. Desperately hoping this is finally the one that sticks....
