I’ve just had a call with an appointment date for an nhs recurrent miscarriage clinic. Has anyone been treated by an nhs clinic alongside Dr S? It would be great to have some support closer to home but I just hope they’re ok with treating me while I’m on his protocol.

Whyisthistakingsolong · 13/01/2021 12:01

Hi @tinpo yes I had an appointment with local rmc. They ran all their tests on me, awaiting results next week. I thought why not just in case they pick up something. They also agreed to do some kind of extra blood test at 9 weeks if I ever get that far!
I say go for it! They also agreed to karyotype myself and DH as last mc was due to trisomy 16.

Does anyone know of you are given pred and need to shield, can you still use nursery /schools for your children?

Finleysmom84 · 13/01/2021 12:24

Feeling sorry for myself today . Was meant to be going to Coventry for my first biopsy which I’ve had to cancel as my partner has covid .

Luckily he Isn’t feeling too bad and I have no symptoms at the moment

Just feel
Like it’s always two steps forward and one step back with us

It’s also 2 years since we started ttc no 2 and all I have to show for it is 5 ‘should be ‘ due dates x

Daffodil21 · 13/01/2021 13:15

@Whyisthistakingsolong do you happen to remember what the blood test was for? I'm just past 9 weeks but we are on the waiting list for the nhs RMC

Whyisthistakingsolong · 13/01/2021 13:51

@daffodil21 I can't remember the name but was some kind of 'chromosome' test to check baby was OK.

Whyisthistakingsolong · 13/01/2021 13:57

@finleysmom84 sorry to hear and know how you feel. Hope your partner is OK. I'm sure they'll be able to reschedule you soon 🤞

Unicorn9 · 13/01/2021 15:43

@finleysmum I so understand where you are coming from. You have been waiting for the clinic to open and then waiting to ovulate and then waiting 7-10 days for the appointment. The only hope I can give you is that you probably won’t have to wait next month, they will just book you in 7-10 days past ovulation and that each test you get a result as it comes out so even though there are two tests done, you will have some answers after the first one.

I went for a 6w0d scan yesterday and baby was small at 3.3mm and there was also a bleed. They didn’t seem worried but it sounds too small for me and I worry about the bleed. Maybe it was still from the biopsy I had.

I am really sorry for everyone’s losses. It’s not a club you want to be a part of but hopefully we can still find some support in each other.

Unicorn9 · 13/01/2021 15:45

Whyisthistakingsolong
When I spoke to professor Brosens at Coventry he said he advised against prednisolone because my daughter was going back to school. But then he also advised against it even though my daughter never went to school and now we have lockdown. From my understanding you need to shield to make sure you don’t get covid as your immune system is compromised. I guess it’s a personal choice. I am on it but a little scared tbh as petrified of getting covid. Anyone else feel like that?!

Wheresmyrainbow · 13/01/2021 16:21

Thanks for the new thread :) @Whyisthistakingsolong

I'm on prednisolone and another immune medication for an autoimmune condition and have been told to shield both March-August, November and again since December until 21st Feb. ( I also work in a school)
The letter I got said its ok for children and other people in your house to continue to go to work and school but there's obviously a risk of them bringing something home x

Unicorn9 · 13/01/2021 17:09

Wheresmyrainbow that is very useful to know.

Daffodil21 · 13/01/2021 18:25

A random question that has just occurred to me - does anyone know if it's ok to get the flu vaccine if you have an autoimmune issue?

Thanks @Whyisthistakingsolong

@Finleysmom84 so sorry to read this. Must be very frustrating

Wheresmyrainbow · 13/01/2021 18:35

@Daffodil21 my rheumatologist always recommends that you should get it, but I haven't for the past 2 years x

Tinpo · 14/01/2021 07:13

Thanks @Whyisthistakingsolong I’ll keep the appointment. I’ve had all the recurrent miscarriage tests in another hospital but they were a bit useless and missed glaringly obvious PCOS.

@Finleysmom84 I’m so sorry you have to miss your appointment. I hope you get a new one soon. Covid has spoiled so much for everyone.

Finleysmom84 · 14/01/2021 15:23

Are most of your ladies on hydroxy?
Amanda tozer has agreed to prescribe this for me .
Do any of you have bad side affects? X

Tinpo · 14/01/2021 18:27

@Finleysmom84 I’ve been on it since early December. I felt a bit funny on it at first but absolutely fine after a week or so.

Finleysmom84 · 14/01/2021 19:39

I’m
Worried the eye problem thing 😩x
