Hi I have a question about Dr S. Does he only see women who have miscarried or does he deal with multiple IVF implantation failure too?

LaurenAB94 · 18/01/2021 05:40

@greendress789 no he does infertility, he usually recommends super ovulation more than IVF as they don't do that at the clinic but I know some people who have had IvF while undergoing his treatments. X

Hello ladies, I just found this new thread after being on the old one :) glad to have reconnected. I’m doing our first month of superovulation next cycle and was hoping for your advice. Mr S says to come for a scan between cycle day 11-13. Is there are optimal day? Also, are you baby dancing during this time? Thank you lovelies x

Whyisthistakingsolong · 18/01/2021 10:03

@greendress789 yes he definitely does this kind of thing but I've no experience of it.

@marabouchoc, sorry I don't know, I'd imagine DTD wouldn't hurt though?

I have my 6wk scan this Thursday. I'm totally bricking it. I had two tiny bits of spotting (both after a no. 2, sorry if TMI). I know I have a very sensitive cervix as I bled upon touch in my latest SMEAR, so that could be why. My preg symptoms are still pretty strong and I had a v strong + test result yesterday. I'm driving myself mad thinking about it all. X

LaurenAB94 · 18/01/2021 10:47

@Marabouchoc the super ovulation program you take the letrozole days 2-6 and then have a scan you can dtd whenever but the most important days are around the scan date and when you have the trigger injection for a few days after. You can't dtd too much 🙈

@Whyisthistakingsolong I understand I'm 5weeks and so nervous. I've actually stopped testing now because I was becoming obsessed. Everything sounds really promising so I'm sure it'll be alright and hopefully you'll see your little beans heartbeat at your scan. Keep us posted. Keep yourself busy and distracted until scan day

Thank you @Whyisthistakingsolong @LaurenAB94 ❤️

I just called the clinic and booked in for my scan...I haven’t even started my period yet and they had to work hard to squeeze me in eeek. Lesson learnt for next time and I’ll try and book in advance. After a BFN this morning I’m excited to give this a go.

@whyisthistakingsolong I just saw you’re 5 weeks. I will keep everything crossed for you lovely. Sending stickiness your way.

Xx

Hope everyone is doing OK.

I just wondered if anyone has had the harmony test before and whether or not they would recommend doing it? Xx

KtAgs · 19/01/2021 17:06

Hi @NICK7nick7,

We had the harmony and found it really reassuring having had two previous pregnancies with chromosomal issues. It also helped me bond with baby in a different way. Hope that helps.

Katy x

NICK7nick7 · 19/01/2021 17:36

@KtAgs thank you, that’s really helpful. When did you have yours done? I think 10 weeks is the earliest you can have it done but I might wait a little as I’m measuring behind and I think it can come back inconclusive if done too soon?

Daffodil21 · 19/01/2021 18:05

@NICK7nick7 @KtAgs sorry for the stupid question, but what's the difference between harmony testing and the NHS testing?

KtAgs · 19/01/2021 18:18

I had it at 11 weeks 3 days (just checked) @NICK7nick7. @Daffodil21 The harmony test is the NIPT which looks for the three most common chromosomal abnormalities and can also tell you the sex. X

NICK7nick7 · 19/01/2021 18:28

@KtAgs thank you xx

@Daffodil21 not a silly question at all, I’m a bit confused by it all. Xx

Daffodil21 · 19/01/2021 18:28

@KtAgs ah thank you, that's what I thought it was, I just didn't realise it was called that. I agreed to it all (except the amnio(?) testing) but we'll see if we get to that point. Is it offered on the NHS in England or do you have to go private? (Scotland here)

LRL12 · 19/01/2021 18:34

I just had the Nuchal scan at 12wks with the professor and would definitely recommend having that done I decided that depending on the results from that I would then go on to have the NIPT test, but as all looked well and was very low risk and no concerns I didn’t have it done, but it is hard decision. X

NICK7nick7 · 20/01/2021 09:08

@LRL12 that sounds like a good idea. Do you have the scan with the Professor instead of seeing Dr Shehata or do you still have to see Dr Shehata still at 12 weeks?

LRL12 · 20/01/2021 14:46

@NICK7nick7 no you just see the Professor, you have to have a blood test at your 10wk scan so they have all the results ready for you when you see the Professor for your 12wk and then he can calculate risk etc, then saw Dr S again for my 16wk.
Also scan with Professor is £350 I think and with Dr S £275 so only extra £75 for a much more in-depth scan very reassuring and get lots of pictures, in the grand scheme of things an extra £75 seemed worth it, considering how much we’ve paid over all. X

NICK7nick7 · 20/01/2021 14:49

@LRL12 that sounds great, thank you

Unicorn9 · 20/01/2021 17:02

Which professor? Sorry I don’t go to Dr S so just wondered...

LRL12 · 20/01/2021 17:32

@Unicorn9 Professor Ranjit Akolekar he also works at CRP Clinic and does the advanced scans x

Unicorn9 · 20/01/2021 17:48

Aah ok. Thank you...

Tinpo · 20/01/2021 21:45

Does anyone know how long it takes to wean off 25mg of pred?

I’m not on it yet - just planning ahead. I have to start once I’m pregnant and start weaning off at 12 weeks. Shielding for me means giving up work so just trying to work out how long that might be for and how I’ll manage.

NICK7nick7 · 21/01/2021 01:04

@Tinpo you wean off by 5mg every 5 days, usually from 12 weeks xx

Tinpo · 21/01/2021 06:40

@NICK7nick7 great thank you! X

Whyisthistakingsolong · 21/01/2021 09:13

I've got my 6wk scan today, I'm 6+4. Convinced it's going to be bad news as had a little bit of spooting a week ago and my boobs are no longer hurting v much. X
