Hi @HopingForABlessing - sorry for your losses. My initial consultation was in December and results in January so fairly recent. I got pregnant first cycle on his plan and am back this Wednesday for 8 week scan so will know then if there’s actually a baby in there. My losses have all been later in pregnancy so I can’t say for certain if his plan is making a difference, but he’s the first doctor who’s ever found a reason for my losses and been willing to treat me, and I’ve heard so many success stories. When do you get your results?

Finleysmom84 · 15/03/2021 18:54

Does anyone have any experience with low nk cells ?!

My results from my first biopsy have come back from Coventry today and am totally shocked . Was expecting normal or high .

Can they even treat low nk cells ? X

HopingForABlessing · 15/03/2021 19:13

Hey @Tinpo! So sorry for your losses too. My results are due on the 29th of this month. I had to give 15 bottles of blood today - I was gobsmacked lol. But praying it’s all worth it!
Did your partner have to get tested too?
Congratulations! I hope the confirm a bundle of joy x

Tinpo · 15/03/2021 19:33

Thank you @HopingForABlessing
At first we didn’t want to bother doing the sperm fragmentation, as we don’t have any problems getting pregnant and all our babies have been genetically ‘normal’, but he told us we should do it just to cover all bases. As we expected the result was fine - only 1% off what they consider healthy - and they still tried to get us to pay for an appointment with a male fertility specialist (we declined that one!). But if your losses are earlier then I would say it’s definitely worth doing as it could be a problem with damaged sperm. That was the only test my partner did, everything else was just my bloods and an internal scan which showed PCOS.

Wheresmyrainbow · 15/03/2021 21:34

@HopingForABlessing I had my appointments in Feb, 2 of our pregnancies stopped at 8 weeks but didn't find out until 10 then a CP.
We booked his DNA appointment on the same day as we had our first one with Dr S so that we could have the results on the same day as my blood but his came back sooner, they was fine so he didn't need to do anything. I think it was worth it just to cover all bases x

HopingForABlessing · 15/03/2021 21:38

@Wheresmyrainbow so sorry to hear of your losses! I was told my husband can book when he wants to but definitely needs to get it done. And apparently his results will take 3 weeks to come back as they will be sent off to Denmark...
Just adds to the delay :(
What’s a CP if you don’t mind me asking? & were your losses on Dr S’s treatment plan? Xx

Wheresmyrainbow · 16/03/2021 09:44

@HopingForABlessing thank you, sorry for your losses too ❤ CP is chemical pregnancy.
We was told it would take 3 weeks as well but he ended up getting an email 2 weeks after. None of my losses were on his plan. I decided to see him after the 3rd as I knew the NHS wouldn't test for NK cells and I thought I would have it because I have other autoimmune problems. Plus I felt where the NHS are so busy it was taking ages for my appointment.
We have our plan now but haven't started following it yet x

KtAgs · 16/03/2021 10:39

Hi @HopingForABlessing, welcome to the thread but sorry for your losses and that you find yourself here.

My husband had the fragmentation test around a year ago. I went to Dr S following my 3rd loss - I had read about him after my 2nd and suspected something immunology related was amiss with me. I had a 2nd trimester loss at around 20 weeks in Feb 2019 (we found out at the anomaly scan) with no conclusive reason found for it, a second loss in the 1st trimester (chromosomal problems) at 12w in Aug 2019 and a third loss in the 1st trimester at 10w in Jan 2020 (also chromosomal problems but not connected to the second loss). My husbands sperm was not brilliant (Mr Shehata said if the DNA damage was any higher, I wouldn't be getting pregnant at all) and tbh it was a bit of a kick up the bum for him (I suspected there were some issues). We saw the urologist - my husband had an infection he didn't know about as well which we were both treated for - no symptoms in either of us. And got some lifestyle advice - followed the mediterranean diet, Impryl for him, laid off the red meat and cycling. I also went rogue and gave hubby Co-Enzyme Q10 and I took it until ovulation (didn't tell Mr S this). We got pregnant in our 4th cycle of trying and I'm currently 31 weeks pregnant with a little boy.

Hope that helps. Good luck - you're in great hands with Mr S (although I know all the tests and costs are eye watering). Katy x

HopingForABlessing · 16/03/2021 12:14

@KtAgs so sorry to hear of your losses! But congratulations - not long to go now until your little rainbow is here!

Did they find anything when testing you? Or was it just your husband? Xx

KtAgs · 16/03/2021 12:50

I have high NK cells generally and also when activated. Also a high positive ANA. Good enough AMH for my age. I've been on hydroxy for the whole pregnancy and asked to come off the prednisone after 3 cycles because it was really affecting my mental state. Had ovulation intralipids instead and fell pregnant that month. Had sex every day for a week that cycle which probably helped. X

KtAgs · 16/03/2021 12:51

*activated in pregnancy that should say.

Tinpo · 17/03/2021 13:43

I think I’m destined for my Shehata appointments to never be straightforward! 8 week scan and intralipds today - left at 6:30am for lunchtime appointment. Waiting in the car park outside and we got a call to say he’s been delayed and it could be hours before we’re seen Sad

So now I’ve had to make the tough decision to have my intralipids before the scan. Potentially wasting £350 for nothing if we get bad news - but if I wait until after the scan it just makes a very very long day even longer. I suppose if I get bad news then the wasted money will be the least of our worries, but I’m extra anxious now with all this waiting.

HopingForABlessing · 17/03/2021 14:12

@Tinpo fingers toes everything crossed for you! I hope it all goes well really and you get amazing news. Stay strong and keep us posted ♥️

tinkerbell999 · 17/03/2021 17:07

Hi ladies just thought I would share my experience with you all I've had now 10 miscarriages all early ones apart from one at around 8 weeks I usually test a week early and usually bleed the day af was due so very early ones .. I haven't been tested for nk cells but I was put onto nova fertility and had a consultation with a lady there she prescribed predisnone and ceaxane injections (heparin ) I've had all tests on nhs which came back normal .. I've just had my 10th miscarriage at 6 and a bit weeks I bled the day of my early scan .. gutted !! As I really had all my hopes on this working for me .. spoken to consultant again and she said that to keep trying and if no luck then it's going to be ivf to have my eggs screened before they transfer to make sure there okay however the costs for this are big and I don't think we can afford it I'm 39 now so I'm getting older and I just feel like it's never going to happen .. I was so happy as I got to 6 weeks furthest I've been in a while I hope everyone gets there rainbow baby x

Daffodil21 · 17/03/2021 17:26

@tinkerbell999 I'm so gutted for you that it didn't work. I hope you find something that works for you soon 💔

Daffodil21 · 17/03/2021 17:27

@tinkerbell999 wouldn't you get IVF on the nhs at this point?

tinkerbell999 · 17/03/2021 17:45

Hiya Thankyou :( and apparantly not as I do get pregnant very easy and pretty much every month so they won't offer ivf would be private and to screen the eggs before transfer as she said that it could be egg quality too who knows 🤷‍♀️ she was telling me about a lady who had 10 eggs screened and only one was healthy all the rest were Turner syndrome or downs it's crazy and now I'm convinced all my eggs are bad or something I don't think ivf is a option for me with the costs .. I do have 2 children a 21 year old and a 9 year old so it's really frustrating as those pregnancies were fine and no issues whatsoever so feeling really deflated at the minuite part of me wants to give up and the other part refuses to stop trying but after 10 now it's very draining mentally and physically x

VenusStarr · 18/03/2021 09:54

Brilliant news @Tinpo 💕 I'm over the moon for you.

I'm very sorry for you recent loss @tinkerbell999 I hope you get some answers.

I started the letrozole this week, I already feel like my ovaries are responding, so quite excited for my scan next week. We also heard from our ccg regarding our nhs funded ivf and we're being fast tracked, so have a consultation early April and I think we will be able to start on my late April period, so this will be our one superovulation cycle. I'm ready to let someone else take over for a while.

Hope everyone is well ❤️
