@VenusStarr I think I would definitely go to see Mr S if this doesn’t work out. I’m impatiently waiting for AF so I can get everything booked in! My DH just leaves it ok to me which is good ins own ways but sometimes I’d like some input!

@Daffodil21 congrats on your boy!

VenusStarr · 12/03/2021 07:58

Morning all, bfn today. Feeling deflated, but we are doing superovulation next cycle. Its getting unceasingly difficult to keep going, so we're looking into using our ivf funded cycle in the Summer. We've been ttc for 3.5 years now 😔

Hope everyone is OK xx

Badlydrawngirly · 12/03/2021 12:25

@VenusStarr

I’m so sorry - sending you a massive virtual hug.

I know it’s so hard to keep going but SO seems to work for lots of women.

I’m thinking of you
Xx

Tinpo · 12/03/2021 12:53

I’m so sorry @VenusStarr - sending lots of love and support your way. I hope super ovulation works for you - I’ve heard lots of great things about it ❤️

VenusStarr · 12/03/2021 17:33

Thank you @Tinpo @Badlydrawngirly ❤️ I was prepared for the bfn this time. I've booked in my superovulation scan, so that's helped knowing we're trying a new approach now and as my cycles are short (I usually ovulate on cd10), it's only just over a week away. Has anyone taken letrozole, are there side effects?

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on aspirin? I don't have any clotting issues and I have heard that aspirin can hinder implantation, so I'm debating not taking it this cycle 🤔 what do you think? X

Badlydrawngirly · 12/03/2021 17:46

Hi @VenusStarr

I’ve not taken letrozole myself but form what I’ve read it can work better and have less side effects than clomid. It’s what I’ve asked my gynae for.

In terms of aspirin I’ve heard different things. Years ago my gynae said I could take it every day and recently he’s said to take it from a BFP.

What does Mr S advise? Most people I think take it from BFP but I don’t think it does any harm to take it earlier.

It’s such a minefield isn’t it?

I’m other news I’ve just found out the NK biopsy is £650 and not £350 as I was told previously! I did think £350 was very cheap but had just told my DH so now have to tell him it’s nearly double!

VenusStarr · 12/03/2021 17:52

@Badlydrawngirly Dr S says to take aspirin whilst ttc but when I had my nk cells biopsy at Coventry, the doctor there says I shouldn't take it 🤯🤯 and since I've had 4 months taking it and not conceived, I'm just thinking maybe I'll try a month off and just start it as a 🤞 bfp.

Where are you going for the nk cells biopsy? Coventry implantation clinic is £540 if that helps? You just self refer and go 7-10dpo xx

Daffodil21 · 12/03/2021 18:03

@VenusStarr I'm so so sorry, that's incredibly difficult.

I decided against aspirin for that exact reason, because I don't have blood clotting issues

Unicorn9 · 12/03/2021 19:57

@Badlydrawngirly Thought I would jump in... I went to coventry november and december last year. They do require two biopsies but to be honest you get the results of each one four weeks after the biopsy, so you do one and then four weeks later get the results as you go for the second one. You don’t have to go for a second biopsy. My results came back high and then normal but I was told by Prof Quenby that it is normal to see the second one come back normal after a high one as they think the biopsy from the previous month influences the next test. They won’t prescribe the pred atm but to be honest I think I need the pred. I fell pregnant at the second biopsy and started the pred when i got it but then stopped after i got the normal result and don’t think i should have stopped because i miscarried....

Badlydrawngirly · 12/03/2021 20:42

Thanks @Unicorn9 and I’m so sorry you miscarried.

My gynae is going to do the biopsy and he said it gets sent to America. He didn’t mention doing two biopsies and said he thinks I need a low dose of pred as I’ve had multiple losses. I know there are other Drs who will prescribe the pred based on history and without a test.

It’s so hard to know what to do for the best.

Have you managed to get the pred prescribed now?

VenusStarr · 12/03/2021 21:27

Thanks @Daffodil21 I'm leaning towards not. Have you not taken it at all in your pregnancy?

Treated myself to a large gin tonight ☺️

Badlydrawngirly · 12/03/2021 21:50

@VenusStarr

Fingers crossed it helps.

It’s hard to know what to do with meds as there are conflicting opinions. I heard that steroids can mess up your cycles too but I don’t know how if you take them after ovulation? My gynae wants me to take them from BFP but I don’t know if that will be enough if the NK cells can affect implantation!

VenusStarr · 12/03/2021 22:03

Yes I take the prednisolone from ovulation @Badlydrawngirly I've heard it can affect ovulation, I think some people take it constantly (not under Dr S I don't think). I actually feel like af is on her way already, but I'm only 12dpo and usually I get af on 14/15dpo.

Daffodil21 · 12/03/2021 22:05

@VenusStarr no I haven't taken it all. Just pred, progesterone and various vitamin supplements. Was trying to take as least as possible x

VenusStarr · 12/03/2021 22:15

Thanks @Daffodil21 I do feel that I am taking a lot of medication at the moment. It is a relief today to only be on hydroxy and levothyroxine and my supplements. X

Unicorn9 · 13/03/2021 06:19

Badlydrawngirly yes I have the pred now. If they are sending results to America, is it to Chicago? The Dr Beer centre is there I think and they are advocates of natural killer cells but I thought they were more in line with blood tests. I guess why send it and do the test if they will give u pred anyways? I do have steroids now but obviously not pregnant.

I “started” AF two days ago but it’s so light I only see something when I wipe, is that normal after an MVAC? I’ve never had one before and now worry it won’t be a proper full flow period:-(

VenusStarr · 13/03/2021 10:22

I'm sorry you're worried @Unicorn9 I've not had an mvac before. How long ago was it? Just wondering if your lining hadn't built-up in time. X

Luckyducky2 · 13/03/2021 13:03

@VenusStarr sorry not been on for a few days, just saw you had another negative, am sorry its all so draining isn't it Sad. Dont worry about the letrozole, I was on it for the best part of 3 years and honestly hardly had any side effects, the only thing I really had was hot sweats but you only take it for 5 days so as soon as you stop it the side effects stop aswell.

Had my embryo transfer on Wednesday and in the dreaded 2 week wait now, feeling absolutely nothing no cramps or anything, just feel like I'm coming down with a cold! Did any of you girls on pred notice a difference with pregnancy symptoms (I remember Dr Shehata saying it can mask the symptoms?) or was it just the same as your pregnancies before? I normally get super sore boobs but wondering if I won't get that now? Xx

VenusStarr · 14/03/2021 13:36

Congratulations on being pupo @Luckyducky2 ❤️ lots of love for your tww. Are you waiting until you otd or has Dr S said you should test early?

Thanks for the advice about the letrozole. I have another question.... I think my period is starting, not full on yet, but it's definitely a light flow, but only just started at lunchtime, so do I count today as cd1 and start the letrozole tomorrow, or should I start it on Tuesday? Help!

(the irony of it start on mother's day is not lost on me 😢 March is a horribly triggering month for me) sending lots of love to everyone today xxx 🌈 ❤️

LaurenAB94 · 14/03/2021 15:02

@VenusStarr as long as it's bleeding not spotting then start it tomorrow. Good luck 🤞🏻the letrozole works.
Sorry March is such a triggering month for so many people. It's a fresh month to try again sending lots of luck your way

Luckyducky2 · 14/03/2021 15:38

Hey @VenusStarr just like @LaurenAB94 says, as long as your bleeding that should be fine to start your letrozole tomorrow. Sometimes if I got my period in the evening and it was still light I would wait till the next morning when it started properly and count that as day 1 if that makes sense? I dont know what Dr S says as I got letrozole at my local hospital but they said I could take it days 2-6 or days 3-7, it worked either way! 👍

Dr S said just to wait till the OTD given by the ivf clinic (should be next Saturday but as they're shut then it's on the Monday), honestly I'm feeling no symptoms at all and usually feel lots of cramping which is not making me feel very hopeful. Its gonna be a long week!!! Xx

VenusStarr · 14/03/2021 16:46

Thank you both @LaurenAB94 @Luckyducky2 tmi, but it's full flow now, so I'm going to take them from tomorrow 🤞 my scan is a week on Monday.

I hope the week passes quickly for you. I've heard others say the pred can mask symptoms. Got everything crossed for you xx

LaurenAB94 · 14/03/2021 16:47

@VenusStarr the only symptoms I got was slightly worse ovulation cramps but nothing else. Fingers crossed your scan shows good follicles xx

Badlydrawngirly · 14/03/2021 21:13

Hi @Unicorn9

I think he said California but that’s doesn’t sound right!

@Luckyducky2 I’m keeping everything crossed for you!

@VenusStarr good luck with the letrozole.

I was in loads of pain again today so called the EPU as worried this infection is to clearing up. Then had some spotting so wondering if it’s AF as I had 21 day cycles before MMC so this would be about right. Typical now though that it’s not progressed. That will teach me to start planning bloods tests and the biopsy!

HopingForABlessing · 15/03/2021 15:56

Hey!
I had my first consultation with Dr Shehata today. I’ve had 3 previous early miscarriages - never getting past 7 weeks. I’ve also never seen a heartbeat. He’s said my husband needs to get DNA fragmentation done too as a sperm analysis will not suffice!...
Anyone else had a recent initial consultation with Dr S? Xx
