Hi everyone,
just hoping to get as many people in one thread as possible. More scope for sharing knowledge, concerns or worries. Wishing everyone the best of luck on this journey.
When I've a minute I will try and tag everyone across the three threads.

Hi all, jumping onto the new thread and have added myself to the list.

I've got an early scan tomorrow, feeling pretty stressed about it tbh. I hope you're all having good evenings.

@Alittlexmasmagic tips from a pro much appreciated - and good to know of a decent mulled wine substitute, it's one of the joys of December! I might end up saying I won't drink until DH arrives and then we can break the news and the secret will be out!

Boredinthehouse12 · 17/12/2020 20:40

@Sleeeeeepy all the best for tomorrow! I’ve got mine next Wednesday and I’m feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement.
Let’s us know how you get on

Sleeeeeepy · 17/12/2020 20:51

@biscuitcat if you're after mulled wine substitute Teapigs Gluhwein bags are really good.

Thanks @Boredinthehouse12 , I should be about 7+3 so will hopefully get a decent view of what's right/wrong

Nimie · 17/12/2020 21:39

We are planning to wait till the scan unless I start showing way before then as we usually video call family 🙈

I bet Aldi/Lidl would carry Kinderpunsch - it's what they serve children here in Germany :) Tastes like mulled wine, just without the wine. Drink hot! It comes in cartons like juice.

Hey everyone, I hope you don't mind me joining in.

I am quite nervous, had a miscarriage at 8 weeks in October so going to take this one day at a time. I am delighted we managed to conceive so quickly, even though it was a surprise! Going to give the EPU a call tomorrow to let them know. I added myself to the list below (28th Aug)

I'm on computer so I can't do the cute emojis! Anyway, this is (hopefully) my second baby due 22 August 2021. My DD is 1 in January and before having her I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks and a couple of chemicals. I'm going to have a scan on Monday at 5+1 because I've been bleeding. I had such a heavy bleed before I even found out I was pregnant - I really thought that it was my period so I was very surprised to see the positive pregnancy test.

Does anyone else bleed/spot a lot in pregnancy? It happened to me with DD from about 6 weeks until the end of the first trimester and with my miscarriage from about the same time until I miscarried. This time the bleeding has started earlier so who knows.

Alittlexmasmagic · 18/12/2020 07:21

@Kinsters I had nothing in my first pregnancy but bled almost continuously through my twin pregnancy. The first one was around 11 weeks. No obvious reason for it, though I had many scans and it was usually old blood. I know others have had them and it was attributed to fibroids. Hoping it doesn't happen again this time.x

@plebsticle just saw your other post. What's the biggest difference between public & private births? Could you opt to birth at home as a happy medium?x

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 18/12/2020 09:03

Kinsters just copy and paste which ones you want to add :)

I have reached my first milestone of 5+6 🥳

Now for scan on Monday.

I need to start my search for a midwife. I waited until 10 weeks last time and it was too late D: I will have most of my pregnancy care with a gynaecologist, I love mine, she is absolutely brilliant. But you are allowed to have midwife care as well. The midwife doesn't do a huge amount pre birth but will come round in the first few days and help with any queries about breastfeeding, sleep, nappy changing, stump care or any other part of newborn care. You can also ask them for advice right up until your child is older as well. But there's a shortage in the area I'm in so I didn't get one last time. They also offer pelvic floor repair classes!

Birth in hospital is with the hospital midwives that you likely won't have met before, just like in the UK. I already know 100% which hospital I'm going to this time. There is only one with gas and air!

I know it's early to start thinking about baby gear BTW, but if anyone has car seat questions, car seats are my "thing". I also know a bit about prams and slings thanks to working at the baby shop for the last 4 months (that I am no longer officially doing :()

WinterBabyof89 · 18/12/2020 09:50

@BertieBotts the process where you are sounds fascinating! If you have pelvic floor repair classes in the future please share the wisdom haha
I love browsing car seats, prams etc. I had a Quinny with my first two and it was a great pram - my friend bought one and hated it. Funny how our preferences are all different.

@Sleeeeeepy hope the early scan goes well today

KatieLianne93 · 18/12/2020 10:31

Hey ladies! Had a couple of down days so not been posting but really need some advice!! 5+2 today, and I’ve got some bleeding, it’s not heavy, and mainly when I wipe. But so scared as I had a tiny stabbing pain lastnight on my lower right side. Has anyone experienced this? I do have a picture of the blood but thought it might be TMI! Please help!!

buckingmad · 18/12/2020 10:44

@KatieLianne93 I could be wrong but I think miscarriage is more associated with period like cramping than stabbing pains. I've been getting very sharp short stabbing pains in my lower abdomen and reading online it sounds like it's the uterus expanding so that is hopefully also the case with you.

VWGolfmk2 · 18/12/2020 10:52

Hi, can I join your thread please? Just found out this week I'm pregnant and I'm still in shock! I did two tests that had a very strong result but despite that I still have moments where I'm not convinced I didn't just imagine it 😂.
I'm due 20 august and this is my first pregnancy, I'm 41 and never thought it would happen without help. We'd been trying for about 6 months but not too intensely so couldn't believe it actually happened for me.
Totally paranoid about things going wrong but trying to think positively. I've booked a private early scan for January when I'll be about 7/8 weeks just for reassurance that everything is happening as it should be.
Anyway I've never paid that much attention to pregnancy and baby stuff so it's a steep learning curve for me and it's reassurance to see other women at the same stage as me going through some similar things.

Charli1989 · 18/12/2020 11:00

Pregnant with my 2nd, due 15th August. DS is currently a very mischievous 18 month old.

Not enjoying this pregnancy so far, been spotting for over a week and this morning had a bit of fresh red blood. Definitely didn't have this with my first so hoping all is okay. Have a scan next week at 6+3 to check.

BertieBotts · 18/12/2020 11:23

Stabbing pains are usually round ligament pain. But be wary if you get shoulder tip pain or repeated pain on one side as this can be a sign of ectopic pregnancy.

KatieLianne93 · 18/12/2020 11:41

@buckingmad thanks for the reply.. I spoke to the early pregnancy unit just in case she said it can be normal but just to monitor it if it gets any worse then to ring them back, but there’s not much they can do 🥺 I’m terrified, just think I need to relax a little bit and hope for the best!
@BertieBotts thank you, yeh I’ll watch out for that. Thanks!

Kinsters · 18/12/2020 12:22

BertieBotts I didn't even think to copy and paste 😂 baby brain already!

Alittlexmasmagic the bleeding is so stressful isn't it. They never found a cause for mine either.

KatieLianne93 when I miscarried the pain was kind of in my cervix if that makes sense. I'm bleeding now but trying not to worry about it cause any pains I'm feeling sound like what you've described and in my previous experience they weren't signalling anything bad.

ALB1990 · 18/12/2020 14:51

Hi all

Completely missed the tag on this group! I've been having a whirlwind, had a scan on 8/12 where they found two sacs and measured me a few days behind what I thought I was and were unsure if one was a bleed, ended up hospitalised with a massive bleed 09/12 and thought I'd lost everything. Another scan on 15/12, they've found one baby and a heart beat but I now have three sacs 🙈 so I'm awaiting a follow up scan on 29/12 to see if it's the one peanut still and it's still okay or 2 or 3! What a rollercoaster it's been! Xx

Hope it's ok if I join? I'm around 5 weeks 4 days with my second pregnancy. We've been trying for well over a year and it's finally happened. Still can't believe it. My first pregnancy was a partial molar so I'm feeling very anxious this time round. Only symptom is breast pain and cramping but lines are very strong so fingers crossed this is it. First appointment at 10 weeks and first scan is due at 12 xx
