Hi everyone,
just hoping to get as many people in one thread as possible. More scope for sharing knowledge, concerns or worries. Wishing everyone the best of luck on this journey.
When I've a minute I will try and tag everyone across the three threads.

@NotMeekNotObedient thanks! I do think that it contributed to my irregular cycles, so gave me some really positive reading. I summarised the whole thing as.... just keep giving them your blood and you'll be reet x

@coffeeandrainbows1 my last pregnancy was a twin pregnancy, identical (although DH is a fraternal twin) no history on my side. I'm impressed at your scan though. We had a private scan at around 11 weeks following a bleed where they completely missed one twin. 3 days later at the NHS one I felt like I'd had my legs taken from under me when she told me, we were so sure there was only one 😂

coffeeandrainbows1 · 18/12/2020 22:15

Oh wow! I have never spoken to anyone with twins that didn’t already have twins in the family so we had never even thought!
She was lovely, she scanned me 3 times, each time I had to go out to drink another litre of water so she could see better but the last time she said she can’t tell for sure so will scan me for free before new year as she likes to be certain!
I can’t believe they didn’t see one at your first scan! GrinBlush what a shocker that must of been Shock

Sleeeeeepy · 18/12/2020 23:14

Had my scan today, all looking good and a couple of days ahead of where I thought at 7+5, though I'm sure it'll keep changing. Big relief but the scans at this stage just look like a blob, the sonographer pointed out the head allegedly but could've been anything 😂 Fingers crossed little blob stays put and grows into something a bit more baby looking!

plebsticle · 18/12/2020 23:41

@Alittlexmasmagic mainly price really. The question really comes down to whether I want to be in a Hong Kong public hospital where English levels are lower and the food is apparently dire but the cost is significantly lower! The issue here is that they won't allow you to leave for at least 2 nights if there's even the tiniest whiff of an issue. Everyone I know has stayed two nights wherever they gave birth.

Biggest issue with private is that everyone has insurance so medical intervention is super common and most doctors love to suggest an elective c section or an epidural as it costs more.

Home birth isn't even an option as I'll never find an English speaking doctor willing to do it :(

More importantly, nausea started with a vengeance today. I was up at 6am feeling awful. The dog was a bit confused!!

Kinsters · 19/12/2020 01:06

JMH1991 brown bleeding can definitely be normal. I bled all the way through the first trimester with my DD and I'm bleeding again now.

So exciting to see people having scans and even learning about potential multiples!

SS123456 · 19/12/2020 05:25

Morning ladies! I hope you are all doing ok 😊. Long story short, we were due to be having fertility tests next week with a private clinic but due to me falling naturally the appointment is no longer needed. They did however let the doctors look through my notes and due to a previous loss in October at 5 weeks they started me on progesterone pessaries and aspirin yesterday as a precaution. They have asked me to go in for a scan on Monday where I believe I'll be around 4 and a half weeks (my period was due 2-3 days ago) but surely that will be too early see anything at all won't it?

BertieBotts · 19/12/2020 06:02

Plebsticle I'd recommend better English and more medical facilities, even if it ends up being more medical I think. I made the wrong choice last time in Germany and ended up giving birth at a hospital where there wasn't a NICU, and also my midwife refused to speak English to me which was stressful. I was led to believe the lack of NICU wasn't a big problem, because I would just be transferred with DS if he was, but I wasn't and it took over 24 hours before I could be back with him, by which time they'd been feeding him all sorts and it mucked up my milk supply.

Is there the option for you to hire/bring a doula at all? That can be really helpful on the language side. Unfortunately it's not an option here.

Food is meh - bring loads of snacks because hospital food is never especially brilliant anyway!

Opal99 · 19/12/2020 08:33

Morning everyone! Woke this morning to a wave of nausea which has left me relieved that it's a good symptom but also worried how I'm going to get through Christmas 😂 we've got so much food for two of us and our toddler who probably won't eat anything. Is anyone else going to have to hide their symptoms and lack of drinking to family? We're meant to be seeing my parents on Boxing Day.

AugustLove · 19/12/2020 08:55

Hello!
Firstly congratulations to all!
I have been reading the thread for a week or so but been nervous to join. I have two children (2012 and 2014 babies) and also a little angel who we lost at just before 20 weeks this summer. Approximate due date for this little one is 14/08, think I’m six weeks today. Feeling apprehensive at times, but doing my best to remain as positive as I can. Roll on August 2021!

WatermelonKisses · 19/12/2020 09:02

Morning everyone! Lovely to hear people getting scans and possible multiples, how exciting. I'm still feeling relatively normal which is really strange as I was so sick last time, sometimes at night I get nausea and certain foods are giving me the slight heave. I know that's lucky but last time I felt so pregnant right away and this time I could almost forget at times so it's strange and a bit unsettling.

@Opal99 I've decided to tell my family at Christmas for that reason, everyone would instantly know if I wasn't drinking. Says a lot about me hey 😅 I've actually already told my mum as I couldn't resist and even if something went wrong I would want her to know, but I'm planning telling the rest of my immediate family on Christmas Eve when we meet for a walk.

krj2608 · 19/12/2020 09:10

I have one ds 5yo and dd 3 yo (going on 13!)

I have had 2 miscarriages this year june and September. This Is our little rainbow baby 🌈

I'm due on my birthday 26th august

Opal99 · 19/12/2020 09:12

@WatermelonKisses she that's why I wanted to tell them early but DH wants to wait until we can tell his parents at the same time. If the symptoms get any worse I might have to veto it and tell them sooner!
I'm the same my parents are going to think it's well dodgy if I don't help them with a few bottles of wine 🤣

WatermelonKisses · 19/12/2020 09:23

@Opal99 such a hard time of year to be pregnant when you usually have a drink. I was in the first trimester at Christmas with my first baby too, loads of my friends guessed when I was busted ordering mocktails at a meal or turning up to parties with nosecco. It's much easier this year with COVID restrictions at least as not seeing friends etc. If you don't want to tell them could you say you're hungover? Would explain any sickness too.

Opal99 · 19/12/2020 09:31

@WatermelonKisses thats not a bad idea actually, haha. I'll see how I get on!

Kinsters · 19/12/2020 09:55

We're spending Christmas with my DH's family and they'll definitely know I'm pregnant if I'm not drinking so we'll probably just tell them. Or at least if they ask then I wouldn't lie haha.

I'll tell my parents after we've had a scan at 8 weeks in the new year. My sister I told as soon as I got a positive test!

VWLolabunny9119 · 19/12/2020 12:45

Thanks @BertieBotts for directing me to this thread. I'm 8w tomorrow, I had a scan last Thursday and all is going well! The scan dated me as due August 3rd. This will be my first rainbow baby after 2 miscarriages earlier this year x

buckingmad · 19/12/2020 15:31

Just had my scan! I had to have an internal one but it was fine. Everything looking really good but dated me at 7+3 whereas I thought I was closer to 8 weeks but nothing major! Yolk sac etc all looking great.

Opal99 · 19/12/2020 17:14

Well my worrying about Christmas earlier is invalid, just been stuck in tier 4. Hey ho.

KatieLianne93 · 19/12/2020 18:35

Hey all!
Just an update on the bleeding and pain from yesterday.. OH came home early from work to just be with me bless him! We went for a steady walk and the bleeding completely stopped by 10pm lastnight, woke up this morning all the symptoms still there feel more pregnant than ever and no bleeding or pain! Just a slight tug where I suspect the little bean is right now 🥰 so feeling super positive!

@Alittlexmasmagic and @NotMeekNotObedient I had my bloods taken on Wednesday to see how much my medication needs to be upped by, But heard nothing back yet, I’m currently on 100mg Levothyroxine so suspecting I’ll go up by 25mg or 50mg but VERY tired at the minute!!!

SS123456 · 19/12/2020 18:58

@Opal99 same here 😩

BertieBotts · 19/12/2020 19:24

Yeah, nausea hitting me today. It's making me grumpy because my stomach aches as well. I only get a little bit of respite after eating. Finding sour/bitter drinks are helping, though - grapefruit juice for example.
