Overdue and fed up

I’m 4 days overdue which I known isn’t a lot but I’m desperate to go into labour naturally as I really really don’t want to be induced. I’ve tried everything- walks, birthing ball, sex, curry, raspberry tea, clary sage oil in the bath! I’ve got no signs at all- no mucus plug loss, no loose stools, no regular cramps at all. I do feel some mild cramps in my lower abdomen but maybe one or twice a day, and that’s it. Don’t know what else to do! Due at the midwife tomorrow so will accept a sweep if offered but part of me thinks that won’t bloody work either.
I’ve also been trying to collect colostrum all week as I won’t be breastfeeding, and nothings happening there either. My body has just decided to be completely uncooperative and it’s getting me down.

I could have written this myself, I'm 5 days overdue and feeling completely fed up. Sorry I can't offer any advice but I completely sympathise! x

bleachblondemom · 06/12/2020 12:27

@Stargazer87 oh no :( have you been trying anything? I think most of it is made-up nonsense but I’m desperate 😂 gonna go for a big walk later today for as long as I can handle it.
Told DH we might have to have sex again and we were both horrified 😂

If it helps, I was 4 days overdue with my daughter and the day before I went into labour I was totally fed up and in a foul mood. You might be closer than you think! Fingers crossed for a good labour 🤞🏼

bleachblondemom · 06/12/2020 12:41

@MyCassiopiea thank you hun, I hope so! Trying not to get too down by reminding myself that I’ve still got ages for baby to come on it’s own before needing to worry about induction.
Baby was very active yesterday evening so I thought it might be trying to wiggle it’s way out, no luck though lol.

@bleachblondemom I agree, I think most of the ideas are old wives tales but still been trying them out! So far I've upped my spicy food like currys etc, had clary sage in my diffuser, lots of walks, bouncing on my ball, going up and down stairs sideways and sex...which I think is getting less and less enjoyable for both of us! 🤣 Have you been given an induction date, my midwife has said I'll be booked in for next weekend which I really really want to avoid as I was hoping for a water birth in the midwife led birth centre...

bleachblondemom · 06/12/2020 18:07

@Stargazer87 I’m hoping for exactly the same thing, water birth at the midwife led unit! But obviously induction means hospital... I’ve got an appointment with my midwife tomorrow so she’ll book my induction, hopefully that won’t be until just before I’m 2 weeks over which is 16th Dec. Me and DH went to town to do some shopping today, it’s the most I’ve walked in ages and my legs are killing me 😆

I was 4 days overdue, foul mood, demanded they booked me an induction date as per NICE guidelines...went into labour at 11.30pm that night. Fingers crossed, it's the worst.

Babydancing2020 · 06/12/2020 20:09

Oh poor thing:(
Im 8 days over due 3cm dilated everyday cramping for 3 weeks now and still nothing:( i totally feel for you cuz i really know how bad it sucks u just sit there waiting and thinking bout just accepting the fact i'll be pregnant for the next 2 years..

bleachblondemom · 06/12/2020 20:16

@Babydancing2020 oof 8 days over, I feel for you. 3cm seems like a lot! Have you got an induction booked? I’m going to accept a sweep from my midwife tomorrow, partly because I just want her to have a feel and tell me if I’m dilated at all, I’m dying to know.

OP posts:
bleachblondemom · 06/12/2020 20:17

@3rdtimelucky2019 that could be me in a few hours 😂 doubt it though!

I think it's only when you kind of give up on it, it happens..... I suppose your body needs to be relaxed IYSWIM.
I went 13 days and 8 days over respectively.
All babies come eventually!
Good luck.

Scotabroad24 · 06/12/2020 20:22

Hi ladies! Can I jump on and join you all? I'm now 6 days overdue and foul mood doesn't even come close to describing me just now Confused
I've also had absolutely no signs or twinges, no mucus plug, no contractions, nothing! Feel like this baby may just want to stay in there forever....

Stargazer87 · 06/12/2020 20:28

I know the feeling of thinking that the baby might stay in there forever! 🤣 I think this is the 3rd overdue thread I've been on as everyone else keeps having their babies!

Scotabroad24 · 06/12/2020 20:32

It's horrible isn't it! Feel like I'll get the shock of my life if I do actually go into labour in the next few days - feel quite disassociated now in a strange way Blush about to have another curry anyway and see what happens!

Is anyone already booked in for an induction? I am for next Sunday but desperate to avoid one if possible!

Babydancing2020 · 06/12/2020 20:46

@bleachblondemom i had a sweep last week thats when we found out i was 3cm dilated it didnt do much tbh i just felt some cramping here and there and thats it. Im going in for a sweep tomorrow again and probably book an induction which i really dont want but will see what will happen. Its crazy how labour can start at literally anytime.

bleachblondemom · 06/12/2020 20:47

@Scotabroad24 it’s so annoying when you keep reading about ‘signs’ of labour and you’re just like, I haven’t even got any of those yet 😩 and what are the odds I’ll be that person who has no signs and just goes into spontaneous full-blown labour 😆
Hope something happens for you between now and next Sunday. I get what you mean about feeling disassociated, like I still can’t quite believe that 9 months of pregnancy is going to culminate in an actual birth 😂

bleachblondemom · 06/12/2020 20:50

@Babydancing2020 good luck tomorrow, hope there’s some progress for you (and for me!)

Scotabroad24 · 06/12/2020 20:59

@bleachblondemom birth and then a baby 😱

Good luck to all those having sweeps over the next few days, hope it gets things moving! - I'm not in the UK and they don't offer them here! Just straight to induction at 42 weeks Confused

addler · 06/12/2020 21:03

I'm 41+1 and no signs either. Seeing midwife tomorrow but will decline a sweep and at this stage will choose daily monitoring over induction once I hit 42. (IF, hopefully!)

SEP880 · 06/12/2020 21:20

My current feelings exactly summed up in all of these comments ! 41 weeks tomorrow and no signs atall although extremely cranky and irritable. Had a sweep on Friday which didn’t seem to trigger anything. Seeing midwife again on Thursday and if nothing then it will be induction on Saturday which I am so so hoping to avoid as also really want a water birth in the MLU !

I feel really ungrateful for feeling so fed up 😞

bleachblondemom · 06/12/2020 21:43

@SEP880 aww don’t feel ungrateful, your feelings are totally justified! You’ve been doing all this hard work for 9 months and now you want your lovely reward, your baby 😊 I think most people feel exactly the same once they go over, you have this date in your mind for so long and then it comes and goes... and nothing!
Are you allowed to ask for your induction to be a bit later, to give the baby more chance to come naturally, say 42 weeks rather than 41+5? I’m going to ask mine that tomorrow.

FanSpamTastic · 06/12/2020 21:51

I feel for you.

I went 10 days overdue with DC2. I tried everything - pineapple, curries, sex, nipple tweaking, sweeps, walking, making appointments! Everything! The midwife told me I was 4cm dilated on my last sweep but still no contractions that day!!! I went for a really long walk the day before I finally went into labour and was slightly concerned that she might just fall out on my way home! I did eventually go into spontaneous labour on day 10 overdue and it was a quick labour.

DC3 was even later and I had to be induced. Even that didn't work straight away! But when it finally got going it was ok,

Plan on having a lazy day at home - just you where you will relax and spoil yourself all day! Hopefully that will prompt baby to make an appearance!

bleachblondemom · 06/12/2020 22:15

@FanSpamTastic I did loads of walking today and then read a book in the bath for ages so hoping that will help, although I haven’t felt anything promising yet!

OP posts:
Stargazer87 · 06/12/2020 22:15

I agree about being shocked when I do actually go into labour, I feel like I'm definitely past the point of imagining it'll actually happen! It's the not knowing and uncertainty that's driving me mad! 🙈

Scotabroad24 · 06/12/2020 22:26

I actually feel so relieved reading these comments - just had a proper cry and feeling really guilty for feeling this fed up so kind of nice to see that it's normal!

Solidarity to all of us fed up over due preggies, I bet it will be forgotten so fast once these babies arrive Smile
