Overdue and fed up

I’m 4 days overdue which I known isn’t a lot but I’m desperate to go into labour naturally as I really really don’t want to be induced. I’ve tried everything- walks, birthing ball, sex, curry, raspberry tea, clary sage oil in the bath! I’ve got no signs at all- no mucus plug loss, no loose stools, no regular cramps at all. I do feel some mild cramps in my lower abdomen but maybe one or twice a day, and that’s it. Don’t know what else to do! Due at the midwife tomorrow so will accept a sweep if offered but part of me thinks that won’t bloody work either.
I’ve also been trying to collect colostrum all week as I won’t be breastfeeding, and nothings happening there either. My body has just decided to be completely uncooperative and it’s getting me down.

@Scotabroad24 that sounds good! I had some quite strong cramps last night, also I think the baby was moving down even lower because it was seriously pushing into my pelvis to the point I was saying ‘ouch’ out loud. Woke up today feeling ok but but I can feel ‘something’ starting again. God I hope I can get a successful sweep later!

@Crustmasiscoming ah thank you it’s good to hear about positive induction experiences . Thanks for understanding, it is so shit isn’t it 😔 seeing my midwife this afternoon so trying to relax until then and think positive thoughts.

MW just been, I am 1cm dilated and cervix is nice and short 👍 but apparently there’s another opening within the cervix that is still closed so she couldn’t get to the membranes by the baby’s head, but hopefully what she did today will stimulate it. I thought that once the cervix was open that was it, I don’t know what the other ‘opening’ is, is that maybe what the mucus plug is blocking? I should’ve asked but I didn’t think. Anyway, hope it comes away now!

@bleachblondemom fingers crossed. X

Not sure if this will help but made a huge difference to me when someone shared it during my last pregnancy.

So I went into the hospital for my covid test and I feel like it's just made me feel a whole lot worse seeing the hospital...it's very old fashioned and uninviting, a million miles away from the lovely birth centre experience I was hoping for...😢

bleachblondemom · 11/12/2020 16:51

@Stargazer87 oh no I’m sorry :( I know it’s easy to feel bad about it now but you might feel ok once you’re in there and settled. I have a feeling I’ll be going the same way 😕

Stargazer87 · 11/12/2020 16:53

@bleachblondemom I'm determined to do everything possible to get this baby out before Monday!!

bleachblondemom · 11/12/2020 16:59

@Stargazer87 come on we can do it!! 💪💪 walk for miles, lace everything you eat with chillies, have sex on the hour every hour 😂 I’ve been bouncing on my birth ball so much I’m gonna have thighs and buns of steel after this 😂

Well ladies I'm in hospital, been here since about 11am. I couldn't cope with the pain once I got to 3cm só spent a couple hours getting my stuff together and once OH got me to hospital I was already 5cm.

So far it's uneventful, I've had an epidural and a top up since, the back pain/pressure is horrendous and although I'm 7cm baby's head is too high apparently.
Feeling very very alone and scared, I haven't slept in 2 nights and can't get my head in the right place, I'm terrified that by the time it comes to pushing I just won't have the strength or energy left.
I don't have a call button or anything and am just left alone in a monitoring room, took me over an hour screaming for someone to come and top up the epidural 😭

bleachblondemom · 11/12/2020 17:57

@Scotabroad24 oh god 😟 great that you’re in labour now but I’m sorry you’re having such a tough time of it 😞 are you on then delivery suite? Is OH not allowed to be with you?
Apparently even just dozing or resting your eyes can give you an energy boost for labour even if you can’t sleep properly, horrible that you’ve just been left alone though 😕

Can’t believe you’re all going off having your babies and leaving me behind, @Stargazer87 will be next and I’ll be left chatting to myself on this thread 😂

I went for a long walk yesterday evening and afterwards was having regular pains for about an hour...came to bed and nothing! Was completely expecting to be woken up by contractions but no...😩

bleachblondemom · 12/12/2020 08:48

@Stargazer87 argh so annoying :( I’ve been having pre-labour contractions since wednesday now (googled it and found out that is technically what they are) and still nothing. Was actually in pain last night, but here I am this morning, disappointed as usual.

Cookalia · 12/12/2020 18:17

Oh @Stargazer87 I hope things kick in soon!
@Scotabroad24 - hopefully things progress soon! And your DP can join you soon

I'm currently a few hours into an outpatient pessary. All I'm hoping is that it moves me on slightly so I don't have to spend too much time alone without DH (he's only allowed in when I'm in established labour). I wanted to avoid an induction but I'm fed up of doing it all alone.

Stargazer87 · 12/12/2020 18:31

Still no further along...an induction on Monday is looking inevitable now. 😩

I wish I could have an outpatient pessary @Cookalia my hospital don't offer that and like you I'll have to be without my husband until I'm in established labour...

bleachblondemom · 12/12/2020 19:00

@Cookalia did you have to ask if you could stay at home? I read on the nhs website that sometimes you can be sent home and this is something I wanted to ask at my hospital but won’t get the chance to until I get there. I don’t know if it’s allowed at my hospital. I don’t even know if I’m going to be able to talk any of this through with someone when I get there or if they’re just expecting me to turn up fully willing to be induced.

It's so frustrating but try to think of them as steps forwards. Things are happening, your body is preparing itself. All those pains and niggles ARE doing something. X

bleachblondemom · 12/12/2020 19:49

@KnockThatVolumeDown I know but I feel like I’m stuck :( like the harder I try, the less progress I make. I feel less in labour now than I did a few days ago.

OP posts:
Cookalia · 12/12/2020 20:16

@Stargazer87 you never know between now and Monday, things can happen.

@bleachblondemom they kind of kept it hidden from me honestly but when I asked today was told that if I was low-risk it was licensed as outpatient medication and I could have it but today was the last day, apparently becomes unlicensed for outpatients after +10. So as it was the last day and they could fit me in decided to go for it but they hadn't made clear previously it was only outpatient up till a point so I think they were worried about not having told me my full options originally anyway

Stargazer87 · 12/12/2020 20:59

@bleachblondemom Completely feel the same about being stuck! I go through phases of pains where I feel like I'm really getting somewhere and then nothing! SO frustrating!!

bleachblondemom · 12/12/2020 21:17

@Stargazer87 urgh what are we gonna do 😞 I’m still not 100% sure if I wanna accept the induction on Monday

Scotabroad24 · 13/12/2020 11:14

Hiya all

Finally baby boy is safely here, he arrived early hours of Saturday morning at 7.7lbs so thankfully not too huge from being so overdue

I'm sorry to hear you ladies @bleachblondemom and @Stargazer87 are still waiting, the only thing I can honestly say is that at the end it doesn't matter how/where they're born it's absolutely worth it... and that's coming from me.. who had a pretty long painful back to back labour ending in a not very nice delivery and who's OH hasn't and won't get to meet his newborn son until Tuesday morning at least Confused these babies don't know or care about our plans at all, they'll come how and when they want but they really are worth every single part of it!

Scotabroad24 · 13/12/2020 11:15

Ooh @Cookalia just saw you've already started your induction! Good luck I hope you're further forward today Grin

Helenknowsbest · 13/12/2020 11:58

Any progression @bleachblondemom ? :)
