Overdue and fed up

I’m 4 days overdue which I known isn’t a lot but I’m desperate to go into labour naturally as I really really don’t want to be induced. I’ve tried everything- walks, birthing ball, sex, curry, raspberry tea, clary sage oil in the bath! I’ve got no signs at all- no mucus plug loss, no loose stools, no regular cramps at all. I do feel some mild cramps in my lower abdomen but maybe one or twice a day, and that’s it. Don’t know what else to do! Due at the midwife tomorrow so will accept a sweep if offered but part of me thinks that won’t bloody work either.
I’ve also been trying to collect colostrum all week as I won’t be breastfeeding, and nothings happening there either. My body has just decided to be completely uncooperative and it’s getting me down.

@Scotabroad24 congratulations hun I’m sure you did amazing given the circumstances. Hope you and baby boy are doing well x

I’ve kinda accepted the idea of induction now. I mean I’d be super happy if baby decided to come on it’s own before tomorrow morning but I can deal with it! Bit of a spanner in the works- I’ve tested positive for COVID 😐 no idea how that’s happened, I have zero symptoms and have been hardly leaving the house. DH had it a month ago and I didn’t get tested as I didn’t have any of the 3 main symptoms but I did feel a bit ill like a bad cold, so I think I had a mild case of it when he did all those weeks ago, and that’s why I’m testing positive now as some people still test positive for like a month after they’ve had it. I personally don’t think I’m actively ill or at the infectious stage. But silver lining- I get a private room when I’m induced rather than staying on the ward 😁

@Helenknowsbest no ☹️ Id love if my labour started today but if not I’ve kinda made peace with the idea of an induction

@bleachblondemom I'm waiting on my covid results today. Will you still be able to have a birth partner whilst in active labour, at my hospital if you test positive you need to do the whole thing alone!

bleachblondemom · 13/12/2020 13:02

@Stargazer87 yeah birth partner can come in and stay the whole time from induction to delivery, can’t leave the room for anything though so gotta take loads of food with us and make sure we dont forget anything important! It’s so crap that it’s not the same at all hospitals, really hope you don’t end up in that situation

Stargazer87 · 13/12/2020 13:38

@bleachblondemom That's good then that you still get your birth partner there and a private room from the start...bonus! I think if I tested positive that really would be the ultimate blow by having to do it alone. Fingers crossed...I've got no reason to think that I would test positive!

bleachblondemom · 13/12/2020 13:44

@Stargazer87 really hope you don’t! I’m sure you’ll be absolutely fine 🤞🤞

@bleachblondemom Every cloud has a silver lining, eh Wink good that your hospital will let you DH in from start to finish, it will make the world of difference for you!

Looking forward to seeing all your birth announcements in the next few days!

bleachblondemom · 13/12/2020 18:42

Was just chatting to my stepmom and she said she was meant to be induced with my sister and her waters went at 5am that day! So baby could make a surprise entrance... highly doubt it though 😆 I haven’t even bothered trying to self-induce labour today, I never want to look at that birthing ball ever again 😂

@bleachblondemom how did it go? Hope it all went ok x

bleachblondemom · 15/12/2020 11:24

Not in delivery yet! Had 3 lots of gel and should be good to go in a few hours :) if someone had explained the induction process to me a bit better I wouldn’t have been so worried about it, it’s been fine.

Little boy born at half 2 this morning by emergency caesarean, definitely not the birth plan I had in mind but we had to get him out quickly and safely. He is 100% perfect, no problems at all, just fancied giving us all a scare!

Congratulations @bleachblondemom ! I've been watching for an update! Glad you and baby are safe and well. I also had an emergency c-section and it can be very tough going afterwards so you really must put your feet up! Also, if you haven't already, I'd recommend some silky high waisted knickers a few sizes bigger than you usually are. I'm still in mine 13 weeks post partum as anything else rubs my scar.

PopsicleHustler · 16/12/2020 07:05

Hoorayyyyy

Congratulations xx

Helenknowsbest · 16/12/2020 07:57

Congratulations 👏

bleachblondemom · 16/12/2020 08:23

@Chanel05 thank you 😊 I bought some really big high waisted cotton pants with me just in case something like this happened, if they’re no good I’ll have to go home in leggings and no pants lol. I’ll have a look online for some silky ones and get them ordered.

Congratulations l! Have you given him a name yet?

Scotabroad24 · 16/12/2020 13:25

Yaaaaay! Congratulations @bleachblondemom so happy for you. Glad he's here safe and sound! Enjoy every single second, I can't believe I'm 5 days in already Grin

Scotabroad24 · 16/12/2020 13:26

Do we have any update on @Stargazer87 hoping everything is well!

Stargazer87 · 16/12/2020 13:29

I had a traumatic few days, 3 day labour resulting in emergency c-section, but she is here and I'm in love!

bleachblondemom · 16/12/2020 14:53

@Stargazer87 gosh a lot of us on here have ended up with c sections! Congratulations mommy hope you and your little girl are doing great x

Thanks everyone! My boy is called Hudson Brody Williams and he is definitely the cutest baby I have ever seen, not being biased at all it’s just a fact 😉 he is the image of his dad, right down to the hint of auburn hair ☺️

Bit of an issue with his feeding though, he keeps bringing everything back up. He’s gone for an X-ray to see if they can spot anything, trying to keep positive and hope it’s nothing serious. Still can’t believe I ended up with an emergency c section, never in a million years thought I’d be experiencing that.

Hiya ! I know this post hasn't been used since we were all 'overdue and fed up' but I just logged on (probably for the first time since then) and thought it would be nice to see how everyone is doing with their almost 2 year olds?
