Is around who's due in April 2021? How are you feeling?

I was in a thread on here in early pregnancy, dropped off when I joined the buddies Facebook group, I'm still in it but its not really for me.... I miss having a place to go to chat pregnancy though.

OP posts:

I still think I just look a bit bloated like I had a big dinner. Said that to DH and he laughed in my face, told me that it was a bloody big dinner then and has started referring to me as "the mothership". It is possible I might be showing...

I'd definitely have the vaccinations. I was hospitalised as a child with whooping cough and nearly died. Don't want that for my LO. Arm was a bit sore but fine. I had flu jab while on nitrofurantoin for a UTI - no idea if it was the jab or the antibiotics or the combination but I felt awful. Was wearing sunglasses indoors on a cloudy day because it was too bright to open my eyes and could barely move because I was so dizzy. Only lasted a day though and fine now. I'd still do it again.

MsHedgehog · 09/12/2020 16:05

@Mimba1

That's how I felt - I kept saying I look fat and bloated rather than pregnant but DH kept saying "no sweetie, you look very pregnant". It was only when I had to start wearing maternity jeans that I started to accept its not fat, but a growing bump!

BaaHumbugg · 09/12/2020 17:17

Yes I've been living in tracksuit bottoms too, I hate the bellybutton thing it makes me want to vomit!

firsttimemomtobex · 09/12/2020 17:22

I'll definitely get the whooping cough next time I go to the hospital thanks for everyone's advice!

I'm still in normal leggings but they're starting to irritate my stomach so definitely need to get some maternity ones, I had to give into the jeans last week! Also need to find something new to wear for work as I'll never fit in my uniform after Christmas!

Had some light spotting earlier and was absolutely petrified as I've not had any yet I was sobbing but seems to have stopped now, has anyone else had this?

SequinCola · 09/12/2020 17:22

@Mimba1 and @MsHedgehog exactly the same here. Even now I'm not completely convinced I don't just look like I've had a big lunch. I seem to look more pregnant in the evenings... not sure if that's a thing or just the light?!

Had my whooping cough vaccination earlier today. Slightly sore arm but no different from any other injection.

MsHedgehog · 09/12/2020 17:51

@SequinCola

Same! When I wake up my bump isn't that big yet in the evening, after lunch and snacks, it's suddenly huge! I wonder if that's a combination of bump and bloating after food! Either way, it looks very round!

Mimba1 · 09/12/2020 17:54

@SequinCola I don't think it's the light! I am soooo much bigger in the evenings. I read it's because the muscles get tired. I'm an older mum as well with no core to speak of so seems plausible!

I'm also just getting to the point where I can't eat normally - a typical sized dinner just won't fit anymore! I have to have half and then leave it 30 minutes and eat the rest. I know they say to have 5 or 6 small meals but honestly I don't have time to faff about cooking different things for me at different times. Up to this week I've just ploughed through feeling a bit uncomfortable but I just can't now!

Also find it is agony sneezing. Anyone else have this? Every muscle in my stomach seems to cramp. And I seem to be sneezing all the time! My general approach is take a deep breath, hold my tummy in my arms and pray it'll be one sneeze and not a fit!

rumandbiscuits · 09/12/2020 17:54

I'm due April 15th! Feeling good so far although my sciatica is slowly making a return (I had the same in my last pregnancy) makes me feel like a 90 year old lady!
I've got my whooping cough vaccine on Monday! Anyone else had there's yet? Any side effects? It's my bday on Thursday so I hope not!

rumandbiscuits · 09/12/2020 17:59

Sorry I have just been having a proper read of the thread and can see the whooping cough vaccine has already been discussed!

Same sneezing problem! I hear the future solution is a belly band. It’s the same when I spontaneously laugh too.

Afternoon ladies. 20+2 today and have my scan tomorrow. We think it's a girl from my gender scan at 16 weeks, but apparently the place we went to is notorious for getting that wrong 😆 obviously we didn't know at the time! Second child, my daughter is 3. Took her out today (I work PT and she goes to preschool while I work, so today is mummy-daughter day) to a national trust garden and walked for miles, absolutely shattered now! A full day at work (wfh) is so much easier than being with a toddler all day! Much less fun though.

Also feeling huge, a combination of second pregnancy so muscles are a bit slacker than they were, plus I carried a lot of water with my first baby, so perhaps this is the same.

Im booked in for the whooping cough jab and have had the flu jab. Also looked into the covid jab but I understand that's not recommended for pregnant women or those breastfeeding. Wonder if that will change in a few months time.

We haven't bought anything, not least bc we have a lot from our firstborn; pram, car seat etc. Can highly recommend the bugaboo. Cost more than my first car but still using it 3y 3m on.

BaaHumbugg · 10/12/2020 17:47

Good luck with your scan @unicornandsparkles , I am having another girl too. Threw a lot of baby stuff away as I did not think I was going to have anymore!

UnicornAndSparkles · 10/12/2020 18:11

Thanks @BaaHumbugg. We gave a fair bit away too tbh. A second child was always a "maybe one day" thinking, but seems fate had other ideas! Im glad though, as I have a sister and my LG is so excited for her sister to arrive. Plus a suprise pregnancy took the stress out of TTC!

BunsNPosies · 10/12/2020 18:39

We're having a second girl. Just went through all my dd1's old clothes (didn't realise we'd kept that many) and got loads of happy memories. I think we'll start looking at what else we need after Christmas.

@firsttimemomtobex did things settle down with your spotting? I've heard it can be quite common, but always worth getting checked out x

firsttimemomtobex · 10/12/2020 18:55

@BunsNPosies I didn't have anymore after the first lot so when I phoned triage back they said not to worry and just to call if I had anymore 😞 I think because my scan was only the day before they weren't as worried but I still would have liked to be seen for my peace of mind!

BunsNPosies · 10/12/2020 19:10

It's so scary when you can't see what's happening in there isn't it. All this responsibility but so much out of our control. We should have an inbuilt window to keep an eye on them.

It's good that the hospital aren't worried. I've had a couple of friends with large bleeds and all was fine and one had her baby today 😊

I hope they get your scan result right!

I think whether it’s easier it depends on your job and the hours you work. Definitely less fun though!

Could you do a private scan for peace of mind? Flowers

Ohhhh, which bugaboo did you go for? Am thinking of the fox 2
UnicornAndSparkles · 10/12/2020 19:53

We went for the bugaboo cameleon, it's still working really well 3 yrs on so I'm glad I invested. We got a very cheap run around buggy for trips to and from nursery and I regret not getting a better quality one as realistically it lasted about year, doing 2 x 10 min trips, three days a week. Something for first timers to consider! Also, our nursery/preschool offered an unlocked shed to leave buggies on during the day. There was no way I'd leave a bugaboo in there, but a mid-range buggy would have been much better than our cheapo version.

UnicornAndSparkles · 10/12/2020 19:54

Had I known I'd have a second baby id have gotten the yoyo as the runaround nursery pram and used it for holidays too.

firsttimemomtobex · 10/12/2020 20:14

@BunsNPosies that's good to know thankyou but I definitely agree we need a window to keep an eye on them!

@GreySkyClouds I think if I have anymore and the hospital won't see me I definitely will but we've already paid for 2 and it can get pricey especially this time of year! 😔

BoJingle · 11/12/2020 00:40

@UnicornAndSparkles I got the mountain buggy lightweight thing - similar to the yoyo - as my run around buggy and definitely don't regret it. DP said I was being ridiculous spending that much on a second buggy but he was eating his words when we wheeled her on and off the plane last year!

This is probably really stupid but what’s the reason for needing two prams? I see you talking about a runaround pram - what are you using the other one for and why does it need to be better? We’re looking at travel systems at the moment and are considering the yo-yo or similar because we live in a flat with no stairs. I havent got the space (or budget!) for two prams if we go for that. It’s such a big investment with so many options that I want to make sure I’m getting the right thing first time. I don’t want to pay loads and then find I need multiple prams for different things

Same. Think I’ve barely convinced my husband that we need the fox 2 Blush
