Is around who's due in April 2021? How are you feeling?

I was in a thread on here in early pregnancy, dropped off when I joined the buddies Facebook group, I'm still in it but its not really for me.... I miss having a place to go to chat pregnancy though.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OneStepOneStumble · 13/12/2020 23:54

@LeopardLover ooo I'm outed! Never mind I wasn't very subtle 😂 but yes I don't know what I'll do if I get the same lady again!

And eurgh to all the people getting bump comments. I've not seen anyone to get any yet but it's so unsolicited. At no other time of life is it okay for anyone to comment on weight or body shape!

GreySkyClouds · 14/12/2020 12:20

Bump is huge. From about 16/18 weeks receptionists have asked if I’m having twins. Haven’t put much weight on elsewhere though according to the scales.

@MsHedgehog yes! Have started feeling nauseous again but I’ve not been sick.

LeopardLover · 14/12/2020 12:50

@OneStepOneStumble Haha I'm the eager bookworm 😉 I think it's unlikely you'll get her again - sounds like she was having a bad day (not okay to take it out on you though)!

blodyn91 · 14/12/2020 12:58

Oh the lovely bump comments 🙄
Mine are the opposite, BIL asked yesterday am I sure Im pregnant 🤦🏼‍♀️

Mimba1 · 15/12/2020 10:44

Is anyone else due near beginning of April? I'm 24wks now and not sure about movements so wondered what other people are feeling. I have a posterior placenta so have felt movements for a while now. Baby seems to have busy days and less busy days. Yesterday he was soooo active - literally kicking from when I woke up to when I went to bed and now today barely anything. A few movements and that's it. Midwife told me at 22 wks that I should call if there are any changes to the pattern so when this happened last week I called the hospital (like I'd been told to) explained what had happened and went in and everything was fine and I felt like I'd overreacted. Now it's happening again within a week! I'd just about convinced myself that this is normal for my baby but then read a post saying lots of movement can be because they are tangled in the cord and a decline after can be fetal distress. Is anyone else having anything like this? Think I might just call the hospital again and ask them...

UnicornAndSparkles · 15/12/2020 11:05

Always call the hospital if you're concerned, its probably absolutely fine but it'll reassure you at the very least. Don't let them put you off calling, ever.

With my first i used to have a glass of OJ or similar sugary drink and lay on my side for 30 min to see if movement restarted. It always did.

SequinCola · 15/12/2020 11:49

@Mimba1 I'm 23+4 so a couple of days behind, but also with posterior placenta and have exactly the same - loads of movement one day less the next, starting to think there's a bit of a pattern emerging but can't be sure. I think it's normal at this stage but if you're worried you should definitely call to get checked out.

You might have seen it, but here's the Tommy's/NHS leaflet about reduced movements.

Ttwinksy · 15/12/2020 11:57

Same re movements, varies quite a bit from day to day (I'm 24 weeks tomorrow). As I've said in previous post even when I think he's having quiet days I sometimes find if I'm really still I can still feel him but in a sort of muted way - like he's kicking my intestines or downwards rather than facing the front...so I do think position of baby makes a massive difference to what you feel at this stage.

Bit of a weird pregnancy symptom here, but has anyone else developed a fluffy tummy?!?! Like the amount of hair on my belly has quadrupled and its all standing on end...so tempted to take a razor to it but then the thought of belly stubble puts me off!! Confused Plus only people who have to see it are midwife and husband....so I should probably just embrace the belly fuzz....bigger fish to fry and all that.

...oh the weird things no one tells you about pregnancy!!

firsttimemomtobex · 15/12/2020 12:22

@Ttwinksy at my 20 week scan I was told I'd probably start to feel movements around 22 weeks if not before but they probably won't develop a pattern until about 28 weeks. I'm completely the same one day he feels really active and the next not so much but maybe I'm just not noticing it as much when I'm at work compared to lying on the sofa at the weekend 😂 also depends what you've eaten because fizzy drinks and chocolate tends to make them move more apparently but if you're worried I would still phone the hospital, better to be cautious!x

Rh8781 · 15/12/2020 13:41

Same here for movement! I’m 24 weeks tomorrow with posterior placenta.
Yesterday he was quieter than usual (I had a busy day and hardly a chance to sit down and notice movement) but when I did I’d get a few kicks, not loads.
Today, again, he started off quieter than usual but I had some fruit and a lie down for an hour and he kicked away. I’m generally not concerned if I get some movement when I have the chance to sit quietly. I try really hard not to get worried about it and just put it down to him facing an awkward way or hiding somewhere.

My midwife said it can be the start of a pattern but it won’t get fully established for a few weeks yet.
But like some other posters have said...definitely get checked if you’re concerned but I’m sure everything will be fine Smile

Mimba1 · 15/12/2020 13:46

So I called the hospital and they initially told me to wait and see but then changed their mind and told me to go in because it is the 2nd time in about a week. Doppler was fine but registrar wanted a scan because it is a "recurrent episode" which the scan team said they won't do before 28 weeks. So now waiting to be told what the plan is. Honestly I would've assumed this was normal based on the 28 wk thing if my community midwife hadn't been so insistent about reporting any significant changes when I saw her at 22 wks - and I would say consistent movement from 6am - 11pm with only 10 min breaks yesterday to 2 kicks in 3 hours today is significant. I imagine they are just being cautious but it's so difficult to tell as a FTM. I'm very aware that I'm being "that woman" who calls about everything which I don't like and have never been with my own health but this whole experience is playing mind games with me!

SequinCola · 15/12/2020 14:10

It's just so hard to know what to do when you get conflicting advice from different professionals especially as for lots of us this is the first time we're really having to deal with the "system" and I think it's ingrained in us to put our trust in the people with the training. And we're conditioned "not to make a fuss".... but if you don't who will? So be "that woman" and go with your gut!

MinnieWebs · 15/12/2020 14:13

@Ttwinksy yes to the tummy fuzz!

Between that and my constant runny/blocked nose, I’m feeling particularly attractive these days Grin

I’m the same with movement, she tends to be most active through the night/early morning then will not feel anything much for the morning. If I eat/drink then lay down or rub my tummy she perks up though.

Has anyone had their MATB1 form yet? I thought it came around 25 weeks but I’ve heard of people getting theirs at their 20 week scan.

LuckyFlash · 15/12/2020 14:20

I’m the same with movements. Sometimes he’s having a party in there and then I don’t feel him for ages.

I’ve definitely got the ‘mummy fluff’ lol. I hate it but apparently it goes away after you give birth. I attempted to pluck it but it was so painful and DH told me I was being ridiculous so I guess I’ll just leave it. Both me and DH are quite naturally hairy so I’m expecting to give birth to cousin IT 😂

@MinnieWebs I got my MATB1 at my 20 week appointment. I would ask your midwife for it if they didn’t give it to you then as your employer will need it soon to sort out mat pay

Mimba1 · 15/12/2020 16:05

Thanks everyone - glad to know several others are experiencing something similar with movements. He seems to have settled into something more normal this afternoon with the odd movement now and then.

@MinnieWebs I got my MATB1 at my 20wk scan. The midwife also offered me one when I went to an appt at 22 wks. Sure you know this already but you need to notify employer at least 15 wks before baby is due in order to get SMP so you might need to do that before you get the MATB1 form if you're still waiting on it. I have to notify by this weekend which has reminded me to check that HR got the form in the post!

Afraid I don't have any tummy fluff but I am intrigued - if anything I am losing hair! I don't need to shave under my arms every day anymore. And where are the glossy perfect golden locks I was promised? I mean, I never expected PG to make me look like a model but, but I would've accepted some extra volume!

MinnieWebs · 15/12/2020 16:17

Thanks @LuckyFlash @Mimba1 I’m seeing the midwife tomorrow so will ask for the form.
Work and HR know so not too worried about that side, I just like to be organised and get everything done. I have four weeks holiday left this year so I’ll be going off early before maternity leave.

No glossy locks here either, think I’d choose hair loss though. I’ve got so hairy since being pregnant, giving DH a run for his money 😂😂

BoJingle · 15/12/2020 18:25

I'm nearly 24w but I'm hoping to not overthink movements. I spent 9m last time being baffled by the pattern because I swear I didn't have one. My midwife said maybe my pattern was that I didn't have one, which doesn't help the confusion. Despite the lack of pattern, I only went in once for movements, which is when I was overdue and I was right that something wasn't right and they induced me. So im planning on being relaxed and just trusting my instinct.

How is everyone sleeping? I'm having really vivid dreams which wake me up, I'm all foggy when I wake and it takes me a couple of minutes to actually come round and work out where I am. This is 3-4 times a night and DD hasn't been well so I am flipping knackered

Yes, I’ve waxed it!
blodyn91 · 16/12/2020 11:31

I have a fluffy belly all year round not just when preggers 🤦🏼‍♀️ I epilate/wax it.
My nails have been growing faster though, and strong so not complaining about that.
As long as I feel a few kicks a day Im happy, can go hours with no movements/ being to distracted with work to notice.
Had a stressful day yesterday and baby knew, kicked me all day and night! To the point I had to get up and do star jumps to try and make him move because he was kicking a nerve 😫

Ttwinksy · 16/12/2020 11:40

@greyskyclouds @blodyn91 Shock wow you guys are committed, I'm impressed!! My husband jokingly plucked a few with his fingers the other day and it hurt like hell...no way I'm putting waxing strips anywhere near it!!!! Confused So fluff tum it is!

MsHedgehog · 16/12/2020 11:51

Oh I wax too! I actually haven't waxed in a few months because of Covid and being too scared to get too close to my waxing lady, but I've waxed my stomach and my back for years! The joys of having fairer skin but black fluff hair...

I've had laser hair removal everywhere else and have been worried about it all growing back whilst pregnant. So far it's been ok, but another 16 weeks to go!

Ttwinksy · 16/12/2020 12:34

Just seen a youtube video of a baby in nicu born prematurely at 24 weeks and its blown my mind a bit. Like...that actual little human is what I can feel wriggling around in me.

Am 24 weeks today... Viability threshold. Feels like a milestone!

SequinCola · 16/12/2020 12:48

@Ttwinksy congrats!! Definitely a milestone! I reach it on Friday. Xmas Grin

MsHedgehog · 16/12/2020 13:00

@Ttwinksy

I'm 24 weeks today too! So pleased I reached the viability threshold! My midwife said it was at 25 weeks but when I checked the weekly update online, it said it's 24 weeks!

Just feels good to know that he has a chance now!

bunhead34 · 16/12/2020 20:17

I've developed a fuzzy face 😂 anyone else? It's like along the sideburn/jaw area and quite a lot but very fair - so I'm not too bothered! It's quite soft I keep stroking it 😂
How is everyone finding tummy
Pains? I'm having some along the lower side of my belly. It's not too bad tho and doesn't feel crampy so think it's just stretching pain 🤷🏼‍♀️
