@danielasummer hope we aren’t scaring you! I don’t think there is enough attention paid during pregnancy to the mental and emotional side of being a new mum. I’m so pleased, we had a turning point in the night and she latched and had a small feed from my breast!

LRHRN · 29/11/2020 08:53

@peachypetite I could agree more about the mental health side of it. All the midwives say is "oh it's normal" 😫
Awww that's amazing news.

@danielasummer you go in as many times as you feel necessary. If you don't feel like your baby is moving as much you go in 5 times a day if needed because even the doctors can't be 100% sure what's going on.
My baby did the same and I was in 4 times and she'd start moving as soon as I was hooked up.
They induced me at 39weeks. I told them how it was making me feel it was consuming my life and because I already suffer with anxiety it was going to send me over the edge, I stressed that it's making me feel like a hypochondriac aswell and like I'm a liar cause she starts moving fine after 5 mins hooked up.
Some hospitals won't induce for this reason and I know they won't do it before 39weeks but just tell them exactly how you feel and don't let them fob you off.
At the end of the day they have to listen to you because only you know and you're your baby's main advocate so if it doesn't feel right tell them xx

EithneBlue · 29/11/2020 09:20

@peachypetite - that made me smile! I hope she continues to latch!

@danielasummer - it's always better to go and get checked. Some midwives just have a way of making you feel like an idiot (they're usually the same ones that don't seem to understand why I have found conflicting advice anxiety-inducing). That's their problem, not yours. You're always right to check. I've struggled with movement throughout which is exacerbated by a baby without a 'normal' pattern: some midwives will just say "well that's impossible, you're just wrong" and others have been like, "oh, yeah that happened to me: it's annoying isn't it?" ... Guess which midwives I prefer?
Doctors do often recommend induction for reduced movements so maybe do a little research on that? I was offered a growth scan which, as it showed normal growth progression meant that the doctor said I did not need to be induced (yet, LOL) - I found having the knowledge in advance about what might happen really helpful, though. I think some midwives have definitely understood the anxiety of being pregnant in 2020 far better than others. It's been hard: be kind to yourself! (And if baby is still misbehaving in an hour go get checked again).

I'm finding all the baby advice on here really helpful although at 41+1 with NO SIGNS of impending baby I will admit it's tinged with a little jealousy ;-) ;-)

peachypetite · 29/11/2020 09:48

@EithneBlue hope you’re okay! Baby obv far too cosy inside you!

lucyFTM · 29/11/2020 10:19

Hi ladies,
After a bit of advice - I'm 39+6 . Nothing much to report other than mild period like pains & lower back ache but this morning I sat up in bed & little pool of clear liquid came out (definitely not wee). Could this be waters or would it have been more than that?

kkr168 · 29/11/2020 10:36

@lucyFTM sounds like they were your waters. My midwifes advice was to put a pad on, lay on your side for 30 mins, if on standing you get another pool of water its more then likely your waters.

lucyFTM · 29/11/2020 10:45

@kkr168 thankyou!Smile

peachypetite · 29/11/2020 10:46

@lucyFTM I had a magnificent gush and hadn’t had a single twinge or pain. most people experience a trickling. Keep your pad in and see what happens in the next hour. Then you need to go to triage and get it confirmed. They will tell you if you haven’t gone into labour naturally within the next 24 hours you will be induced. How exciting!!!!

Kj1010 · 29/11/2020 10:49

38 weeks here cant wait for this week to go as next week I have my little one @danielasummer yes I agree if ur not feeling ur little one move as u normally like go in I went in for first time few days ago as he didn't really move all day or in that evening and after like 15 minutes of being hooked up started to move he was moving and I couldn't even feel it midwife could though it is so tough for us especially with this bloody covid I defo think some midwives are better than others with understanding what we are actually going through in this time

MsBee13 · 29/11/2020 12:00

Hi ladies. Just a quick update. My baby boy was born via c-section on Friday 27th Nov (40+1) at 1.39pm, weighing 3.8kg. I have been in the hospital since Monday being induces. After 2 sweeps, balloon and hormonal pessary being still opened to 1cm only and no contractions, I lost my patience to continue with the whole induction process and request for c-section. Which was difficult to get to be honest as all the doctors didn’t really want to do it. The thought of going through another pessary, manually broken waters, hormonal drip and other drug pain reliefs petrified me. After having a breakdown in front of the doctor, being there for so many days without any progress, doctors agreed for me to have c-section. I have to say, best decision I have ever made! The whole process was so amazing that I would do it all again! Healing is fine, little of pain around wound bit nothing unbearable. Bleeding is on, like normal period. Nothing heavy or crazy. The baby boy is so beautiful, the feeling you have after you can’t simply describe with words. I hope all you mummies waiting, to be with your little ones soon. One advice, always trust your gut feeling! Don’t let doctors and hospital to push you to anything you don’t feel comfortable to do. Good luck! PS: My baby’s name is Max Alexander ❤️

kkr168 · 29/11/2020 13:37

Congratulations @MsBee13 on your baby boy x

NaomiB79 · 29/11/2020 13:51

Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy @MsBee13. Your birth story sounds almost identical to mine....spent 3 days trying to be induced and ended up with a section as no progress with induction. It's all so worth it when you have your wee one in your arms xx
