Thanks @ThirdTimeLuckyIHope I'm sooo happy we found out for Christmas.

You're having a boy aren't you? Have you started to buy stuff? I already ordered 4 sleepsuits and some socks haha x

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 27/12/2020 18:05

@SH2021 we are having a boy yes. Today I ordered a baby swing and a changing mat because they were such a good offer in the sale but I feel a bit nervous about actually starting to buy stuff

We are still none the wiser on names but since finding out it's a boy it's made it a lot more real for me

How are you?

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas

EmeraldPeacock · 29/12/2020 23:13

Aww it's been so nice catching up on yjos thread! Look at all of these baby girls!!! Had our 20 week scan on the 18th and found out on Christmas morning (thank you so much for that idea, it literally made our Christmas!) that we are also having a baby girl!!! 😭❤️ Always dreamed of having a girl and still pinching myself to be honest... Husband is made up too (he will be the biggest door mat with her 😂) but we were so convinced it was a boy, the whole family was!
The movements have suddenly sped up in the last week, anyone else had something similar?! I've gone from flutters and rolls and bubbles to full on kicks, some have felt so strong that I've fully gasped out loud! There's still half way to go and a lot of growing to do.... I feel like she's stronger than me already! 😂

Not having such a great time with my hospital though... Everyone is lovely when I get to see them but the organisation has been so bad and on more than one occasion I've been left for hours in waiting rooms. I've really felt the strain of covid on my maternity care this whole time, had a big cry about it with a midwife today.
Anyway sorry for the essay, hope everyone is doing okay and having some time for rest even if Christmas has looked different for you this year. My friend said that being pregnant is a super power as it is but being pregnant in a pandemic is another level of magic. We're all pretty magic ✨ and it's important to remember that! Much love xx

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 29/12/2020 23:25

@EmeraldPeacock congratulations #teampink 💗 what a lovely Christmas Day surprise

HotDiggidy2017 · 30/12/2020 13:35

@EmeraldPeacock I’m so glad you went with the idea! We also got to find out on Christmas Day and it’s also a girl for us 😂 best Christmas present EVER! Now just need to agree on a name... 🙈

I’m so sorry to hear about the issues with the hospital! It gets me so mad when I hear about how poor some women are being treated and the excuse is always Covid - it’s just not good enough! Is there any chance a different hospital might be better? We’ve gone just 20 minutes further away, our of area technically but it’s been such a good experience - I can already tell it wouldn’t have been as good if we’d stayed in area as the community midwives have been really disorganised.

Oh my goodness so true about the movements! I’ve been getting punted in the vjj all morning and last night she had hiccups 😂 it seems like all of a sudden she just doesn’t want me to forget she’s there and she’s getting so strong! 😍

HotDiggidy2017 · 30/12/2020 17:28

Oh wanted to ask if anyone is considering/researching prams yet? I’m a little confused whether to get one ready in advance as there’s no knowing if we’ll be in lockdown. We’re definitely buying a carrier in advance as I’ve been lucky enough to try a friends already.
Very confusing!

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 30/12/2020 17:31

@HotDiggidy2017 so I think I've picked the one I want but I haven't ordered it yet think I'm going to wait until March time. I've been looking at Infababy.com they have some good value travel systems

DiabeticFirstBaby · 30/12/2020 18:32

we went to a nursery session at John Lewis on Sunday. It was really good and informative and we came away knowing which pram/travel system we want. Not pushy at all and free up to an hour! would deff recommend!

SH2021 · 30/12/2020 22:05

@HotDiggidy2017 I have done lots of research and decided I want the bugaboo fox 2 pram and travel system pack thingy. I was hoping to see it in person before placing an order but I'm in wales and in lockdown for the foreseeable (we don't live close to any bugaboo stockists either)

One of my work friends is due in March and he said they just ordered their pram but it had quite a big delivery delay due to lockdown and brexit. I think it obviously depends on what brand you go for but I think it's worth doing a bit of research to make sure you leave enough time for it to arrive :) xx

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 30/12/2020 23:20

Just a quick question have any of you got an anterior placenta? When I went for the gender scan they said I had one and I wouldn't be able to feel movements until later. I know some of you are a couple of weeks a head so I didn't know if you could tell me when you felt movement. I'm 18 weeks now and haven't felt anything yet. Thanks

DiabeticFirstBaby · 31/12/2020 07:36

@ThirdTimeLuckyIHope yes i have. Started to feel popping feeling around 19 weeks like i had wind, just occasionally at first but increased and now 21+6 and can feel kicks, sometimes light, sometimes strong. Usually in eve when relaxing with feet up. They said i might feel movement higher or lower down but can deff feel her! x

Tigerlily08 · 31/12/2020 08:23

@HotDiggidy2017 we ended up buying an iCandy Peach which is last seasons colour (purple) once we found out we're having a little lady as the travel system was pretty much half price! It felt a little early to get such a big ticket item but for the price we couldn't argue as we both loved the iCandy Peach.

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 31/12/2020 11:08

@DiabeticFirstBaby thank you

SH2021 · 01/01/2021 08:07

@ThirdTimeLuckyIHope I have the same with my placenta and I'm 22 weeks today. The last week is the first time I've felt proper kicks so don't worry 😁

As already stated this is usually in the evenings when I relaxing in bed/on the sofa xx

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 01/01/2021 10:09

@SH2021 thank you I'm just feeling anxious because my last scan seems like it was a while ago even though it really wasn't. I said to my OH I'll feel much better when I can feel him but I'm sure I'll just find something else to worry about

SH2021 · 01/01/2021 16:18

I was the same. It feels for ever! We had a private scan the other week which was so lovely and only £55. If you think that will put your mind at rest I do think they are worth it. We have booked another at the 28 weeks mark

Plus, with covid restrictions the private ones were much nicer because my husband could be there the whole time and the room was set with mood lighting and nice music. A really enjoyable experience! X

HotDiggidy2017 · 01/01/2021 21:54

Thanks for all the advise re pram purchase! We’ve decided to do our research ASAP on based on your comments.

Now just a little stuck picturing when we’ll be use a pram. We’re both long distance hikers so used to carrying weight and plan to invest in a good quality carrier. We live on the absolute edge of a city but even pre-Covid rarely went to shops with most weekends and friend meet ups being spent walking... hard to imagine what we will be like/able to do when baby arrives though 😖 do we go all-terrain or an inbetweener or just one for the shops... ach it’s so difficult to decide!

DueMay2021 · 10/01/2021 10:12

20 week scan tomorrow I'm excited but nervous still haven't felt movement yet (stupid anterior placenta)

Hope you are all well

asabee · 13/01/2021 18:10

@DueMay2021 I'm sure you will feel it sooooon.

How's everyone else doing? Any updates?! My nausea can't see to go away

Hi all, 23+6 today, had 24 week appointment with midwife yest (have regular due to diabetes) and listened to her heartbeat, all sounded good which is amazing! Even though i have anterior placenta I can feel her moving quite a bit, can even see my belly moving when shes kicking which is super odd. I get another scan at 28 weeks too. Have bought quite a lot of baby stuff already now. How's everyone else? Hope your scan goes well @DueMay2021!

Babydust13 · 14/01/2021 12:17

@DiabeticFirstBaby thank you it went ok but I have to go back next week to see if we can finish the checks because baby was all curled up and even after jumping around and walking up and down stairs he wouldn't budge 😂😂

asabee · 15/01/2021 10:01

@DiabeticFirstBaby oh wow. I have only bought a set of bottles and a sterilizer. I'm 24 weeks today and I feel like I should start buying soon. What do you think? I just don't know where to start! How's the feeling? I love those little kicks you know.

@Babydust13 hahah he's so comfortable in there

@asabee we've been getting some bits my SIL gave us a crib and I have a box of bottles and a changing mat think I've almost decided on a travel system as well I feel like there's still a lot to get though

Ijustlikefood · 04/02/2021 20:55

I'm 27 weeks now and this week have swollen feet/ankles, anyone else suffering with this ?

asabee · 06/02/2021 20:42

I've got some bottles, just got the crib yesterday and I also have gotten the car seat and the rocker. I'm so excited!
