Hey @RLou3. Congratulations! I’ve felt some bubbling since Christmas Day and mentioned it to my midwife at my 16 week appointment today and when she was listening to the heartbeat through the Doppler today I felt the same movement as she heard movement on the Doppler. I’m 17 weeks tomorrow but this is my second. I don’t think I felt movement until I was a bit further along with my son and then it felt a bit like popping inside. It’s so exciting and hopefully you’ll be feeling something soon 🤞🏼.

@Waitingforbabypage your bump is lovely 😍, I’m definitely showing quicker this time around!

Mackie2020 · 29/12/2020 21:04

@RLou3 I think I may have felt a tiny bit of movement today, but it's baby #1 so I'm not sure. I'm 18 weeks today.

TerryRose · 29/12/2020 22:05

@RLou3 nope not yet but only 16 weeks so surely soon enough

I'm having a private scan at 17 weeks , do you think it would still be too early for them to tell me
if it's a boy or girl ? I'll have another scan at 20 anyway but just can't wait to find out !

Scarftown · 29/12/2020 23:43

Anyone else feeling anxious about baby’s health again? I was anxious up to the 12 week scan but been fine for weeks. I’m just 16 weeks and beginning to feel worried that things aren’t ok again. I’m hoping my midwife appt next week she will do the heartbeat and that will reassure me but I’m wondering is it normally to be worried at this point? Is it because I can’t feel anything etc. Or is this a side effect of the whole pandemic and being bored in tier 4 with nothing to do making my mind run wild?

BlondePotter · 29/12/2020 23:52

@Scarftown I had that, absolutely no symptoms and so I was convinced that I wasn't even pregnant anymore. But at my 16 week appt she found the heartbeat straight away and reassured me that baby was definitely in there 🙏 so try not to worry, and enjoy the fact you don't have any negative symptoms

As for feelings, I have anterior placenta so not expecting to feel anything yet although I've had some feelings recently that I imagine are baby. I'm 17 weeks

Nellle · 30/12/2020 00:05

I know what you mean @scarftown I also calmed down a lot after the 12 week scan, but now I'm 16+2 and beginning to wonder if there's a baby in there again! It's not the same intense anxiety as before, but I can't wait to feel some movement.

Those of you who know the position of your placenta, when/where did you learn this?

Hope everyone's doing OK.

Nellle · 30/12/2020 00:06

My 16 week appointment will be over the phone. Envious of those of you who might get a chance to hear your babies!

TerryRose · 30/12/2020 00:40

@Scarftown it's impossible not to worry ! I'm
16 weeks as well and totally get it , I thought once i got to the magic 12 weeks the worries would disappear but I try and just snap out of any negative thinking and talk to the baby and it calms me

Scarftown · 30/12/2020 01:14

Thanks! That’s really helped!

lucieloos · 30/12/2020 09:40

It's really normal to worry around the 16 week mark. It's because all the morning sickness etc has usually settled and you start feeling a lot more normal again. I was the same with my first and I remember going to my 16 week appt and crying on the midwife as I didn't feel anything at all but everything was absolutely fine.

Bs93 · 30/12/2020 11:23

@RLou3 I’m due on 21st too! 😊 also my first baby. I’ve felt bubbles but probably just wind haha, can’t wait to feel something properly

I found out I have an anterior placenta from my 12 week ultrasound letter!
Also I’ve booked a 16 week gender scan so at 17 you should definitely be able to find out, unless baby is not cooperating on the day so maybe drink a can of coke and go for a walk beforehand to get things moving 😊

Bs93 · 30/12/2020 11:44

@Scarftown I always feel better after a scan but then that reassurance wears off! We got a few baby related presents for Christmas and it’s so lovely but also made me anxious. I still constantly check for blood even though (touch wood) I’ve not bled at all since being pregnant. Convinced myself I felt blood trickling down my leg out shopping the other day 🙈
Having a gender scan a week on Friday and whilst I’m so excited, I’ll be extremely nervous too

Lovethatjourneyforme · 30/12/2020 12:00

I've definitely hit the anxious period again, I think because I don't have a bump yet and I feel completely normal. Silly really because I've had absolutely no negative signs at all.

@Nellle they should've have noted your placenta position at your 12 week scan - my sonographer didn't say anything about it but I found it on my notes afterwards.

Lovethatjourneyforme · 30/12/2020 12:19

@Bs93 I have convinced myself of that so many times 😅 still get the wipe fear all the time as well

Dragonfly92 · 30/12/2020 12:40

I definitely feel anxious at times. It's so hard not to worry. I keep getting dull aches and I get paranoid I'm going to start bleeding but have to just trust it's my body stretching.

@Bs93 we had some Christmas presents for ours too and I feel the same as you. It's lovely but also feels too early. We've not bought anything for them yet.

Bs93 · 30/12/2020 14:46

@Dragonfly92 I have IBS anyway so lots of stomach twinges and pain, also been having back and hip pain for weeks, it’s really scary! Then when I don’t have pain I’m paranoid too 🙈

My Mum’s friend has a hardly used cot to give but she wants rid ASAP, just feels too early but no point missing out! My Mum is going to keep it at hers anyway

Nellle · 30/12/2020 15:14

Hmm, we didn't get given any notes at my 12 week scan. Just have the combined results that came in the post the following week. How odd! 🤔

Happy2be · 30/12/2020 15:39

@Nellle ours has all changed to online so dont have any notes either 😩

Lovethatjourneyforme · 30/12/2020 17:30

@Nellle do you have any paper notes or has everything been online or kept by your midwife?

northerngal20 · 30/12/2020 17:35

@Scarftown yep the anxiety has kicked in for me too! i've been feeling completely normal for the last week (only 15 weeks now), which made me worry that all wasn't going as it should, my bump still hasn't popped at all!

I think cause i've been worrying I've had some really strange dreams - i woke up from one yesterday where my bump got hit, but then (not in my dream) i went to the loo to find some bleeding :( it carried on to today so went in for a scan. Thankfully the baby was all fine and bouncing around in there - they couldn't see any reason for the bleed, but it gave me a huge scare! So glad they could see me, my 20 week one isn't for 5 more weeks and i don't think i could wait until then after that happened. the sonographer said she could tell the sex from the scan but wouldn't tell me cause it's so early still - i'm so intrigued!!

Dragonfly92 · 30/12/2020 19:14

@northerngal20 glad to hear everything was okay at the scan. Must have been scary going through that. Oo were you planning on finding out the gender?

BlondePotter · 30/12/2020 20:22

@Nellle she told.me during my scan that I have anterior placenta.
I have paper notes too, wish it was all online so I didn't have to remember them each time haha

Nellle · 31/12/2020 00:11

No idea about my notes. I remember the sonographer filling something out by hand, but it wasn't given to us. I access my medical records online and nothing there relating to the scan either.

I'll check in with my midwife at next appointment. Thanks for the responses 😊

Humpty11 · 31/12/2020 01:53

@Nellle the sonographer told me at the scan but only because I asked about the umbilical attachment to the placenta because I had to have a manual removal of my placenta with my son so wondered if it was likely it might be similar this time.
At my 16 week midwife appointment she did have access to all my notes on the computer system too and read everything off there to confirm so definitely ask at your next midwife appointment (even if it’s a telephone appointment).
My friend has just had her 20 week scan and they’ve only just told her that it’s anterior and nothing was said at her 12 week scan about it 🤷🏼‍♀️.

Has anyone been suffering with heartburn in the second trimester? I wake up around this time every night with such horrible heartburn it’s making me feel sick! Gaviscon helps a little bit but it’s horrible 🤢.

Lovethatjourneyforme · 31/12/2020 08:19

@Nellle your hospital is obviously just a bit more up to date with the 21st century 😂 I have paper notes that I keep at home and have to take to every appt etc

@Humpty11 yeah I've been getting heartburn a lot. Thankfully worse in the evenings and not too bad at night, though I'm expecting that to change as we go on! It's very annoying. I've just been using rennies, work for me and taste alright.
