I had my 16 week appt today with midwife. Did usual BP and wee. Also a blood test so they can check if I'll need Anti D as I'm O-
And she listened to the heartbeat and asked if I'd like to record it so DH could listen 🥰 it was so lovely!
Merry Christmas everyone xx

RachShad · 24/12/2020 11:19

Yeah defo don't be worried, it is the best news any grandparent could receive in my opinion! I'm sure she'll be over the moon, yeah just explain you've not been well. You wanted to focus on things getting better in yourself before you could reveal it properly. Hope all goes okay:)
& awww that sounds lovely, such a nice timing too on Xmas Eve!! Merry Christmas x

Edelweiss2020 · 24/12/2020 11:56

Had my 16 wk appointment yesterday, got to hear the heartbeat too ❤️❤️ For both the 12 wk scan and for the heartbeat yesterday little one was being super active, had to wait for a while so midwife could record the heartbeat as they were obviously having a good wriggle as it was quite fast for a while!
So nice to be able to hear it and know its okay in there! Still barely showing so it makes it feel more real.

Midwife was shocked I hadn’t felt anything yet, I’m 16+2. I though you could only start to feel it from now?
I’ve had a few feelings where it could have been baby, but I have no idea what it should feel like so it might not be. Who knows 🤷‍♀️

BlondePotter · 24/12/2020 14:20

@Edelweiss2020 mine didn't ask me about movement, maybe she saw I have anterior placenta from my notes so didn't bother yet haha

toptreeroots1 · 24/12/2020 14:35

My midwife said feeling nothing at 16 weeks is normal.
She said if I had felt nothing by 24 weeks to contact .
Second baby anterior placenta. 16 weeks today and no movement yet.
Had my 16 week appointment yesterday to and heard heartbeat easily despite anterior placenta

Tuey91 · 24/12/2020 14:35

Hi. 13 weeks 3 days, due June 28th! How is everyone feeling? I have gained a stone already Confused but my jeans still fit me which is odd but had my scan Tuesday and only 1 baby Grin

Tuey91 · 24/12/2020 14:36

Forgot to add this is my 3rd pregnancy. I have 2 daughters and this pregnancy feels different so maybe a son ?

Fishingforhapiness · 24/12/2020 17:02

Thanks guys. Reassuring as always. Just home from work. Now to finally put my feet up and enjoy as the festivities go on around me!

Waitingforbabypage · 25/12/2020 04:53

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate.
Happy Friday to those who don't.

Just think ladies, this time next year we'll have a 6(ish) month old!

Let my ex husband know last night, purely to be adult about it and so it came from me rather than the children. He wasn't amused and actually reminded me abortion was a thing if I wasn't happy in my predicament. 😱 who does that?? But then why change the habit of a lifetime, he told me both times with our children to "get rid of it" colossal wanker. Aaaanyhoo! Telling the kids today. I'm nervous but hopefully after that, I can finally get excited and enjoy my much wanted and much loved pregnancy.

Bearandbee · 25/12/2020 07:49

Merry Christmas!

@Waitingforbabypage hope all goes well telling your children. I've not told them or their dad yet... thought get Christmas out of the way and tell them after. I'm nervous too because not sure how they will take it. Sorry you're ex is such a dick!

Edelweiss2020 · 25/12/2020 07:52

What a wazzock he sounds!! Hope your children’s excitement makes up for it and you have a lovely day :)

Currently at work til 11am (home carer) so Christmas will become real after that! It’s weird that this will be our last Christmas as just us, but I’m excited for next years Christmas with little one already :P

TerryRose · 25/12/2020 17:30

Happy Christmas to you all, hope you have a chilled day , I'm eating a plate of roast potatoes as that's all baby will allow 😂

PinkPlantCase · 25/12/2020 18:22

Merry Christmas everyone Grin

Anyone else getting pestered about alcohol? I’m getting lots of ‘I knew a pregnant lady who would always have a glass of wine and her baby is fine’ 🙄

Nesski · 25/12/2020 23:31

@PinkPlantCase didn't get any of this as it's just me, my husband and brother for the Xmas period! Most my my friends are so cautious, they don't even have smoked salmon... Hmm

I would have thought nowadays the culture around socialising with alcohol was behind us... Regardless of being pregnant or not it's a really on is it?

Nesski · 25/12/2020 23:32

*regardless of whether you are pregnant or not, it's not really on, is it? Tell them that you don't even need it to have a good time

TerryRose · 25/12/2020 23:43

@Nesski completely agree with you

TerryRose · 25/12/2020 23:44

@Waitingforbabypage best of luck telling them, try not to take any notice of what he said

Waitingforbabypage · 26/12/2020 07:31

Well my kiddos completely surprised me by being super excited!

reservoircats · 26/12/2020 08:11

@Tuey91 we have the same due date! I was hoping I'd find someone on here who did ☺️

Tuey91 · 26/12/2020 09:01

Yayyy Grin this is my 3rd pregnancy, what about yourself? My other two came 9 and 10 days earlier so will be interesting to see if this baby follow suit. Good luck with everything and how are you doing so far? So glad I have someone to speak to now Smile x

reservoircats · 26/12/2020 09:23

@Tuey91 this is my first :) so everything is very exciting! I am struggling with morning sickness and tiredness which I thought would have gone by now, but am just greatful I can work from home.
How have you been feeling?

PinkPlantCase · 26/12/2020 09:59

@Nesski it was my sister in law who lives abroad that didn’t seem to have much of a clue that things could be harmful to baby (we had fun at the cheese course too). It’s fine if she doesn’t know but I didn’t expect to be questioned and told the risks must be really small.

You’re right about alcohol though, it shouldn’t be pushed either way. Fine wine to go with a meal is almost as important as the food in DHs family. I was quite happy with my elder flower pressé Grin

TerryRose · 26/12/2020 13:06

@Waitingforbabypage ah delighted to hear that and must be such relief for you and ye can all be excited now

curiouscat1987 · 26/12/2020 14:18

Is anyone else experiencing constant pain?? I did mention to midwife but she wasnt fussed.

Basically have constant muscular/cramping pain in my abdomen (can be anywhere), stabbing pains when i do anything that vaguely involves my core muscles like sitting up/changing position, pain in my bladder/urethra (pre pregnancy but has gotten worse), and random stabbing pains in my crotch! I have severe ibs and some of the pain is related to trapped wind/digestion but some of it feels different. Also think i slightly pulled a muscle in my pelvis yesterday so now it hurts there too.

Not helping is the fact it bloody hurts to go to the toilet -the pushing bit just makes the existing pain a lot worse!

Someone please tell me this is normal and it wont last another 5 months!:(

TerryRose · 26/12/2020 14:41

Just quick question, anyone else experience a little twinge in their side when they stand up ?
It only started today , it's not painful as such more that I'm just aware of it and seems to happen when I stand or sometimes when sitting on my left side , not sure if it's just the usual stretching I've read about , 16 weeks on Tuesday , thank you
