@Fightingtobepositive wow! It is so nice to speak to someone who was in the same boat. I was in hospital for over a week too, & was an outpatient for a further 5 weeks. My bloods were still all over the place, particularly my liver function too. My ovaries were still enlarged at my dating scan, & hadn't reduced in size at all since my last scan 4 weeks earlier. I was on daily blood thinners until 13 weeks too.

Are you consultant led as a result? My midwife said the IVF/OHSS was my only risk factor, and the consultant said if everything is looking ok at my 20 week scan then he may be able to sign me back onto midwife led care. I was told by the gynae consultant that I may be at risk of pre-eclampsia and early birth because of the OHSS though

Fightingtobepositive · 19/12/2020 12:21

@Mackie2020 That’s crazy, and the bloods to. Did you have fluid on your lung to? i was also in outpatients for bloods up until around 14 weeks. Also on blood thinners for a while, and had to stop progesterone at 9 weeks.

To be honest I’m not a fan of my consultant. He hasn’t done anything or answered a single question or explained anything, and signed me off at 20 weeks when he didn’t even see my ovaries. They haven’t been able to take a tidy measurement of my right ovary because they can never find it. But what they can see both are still enlarged. So I’m still concerned over things. I want to look into changing my consultant but I’m scared they won’t let me.

I wasn’t told that about pre-eclampsia. I think because I had covid while in hospital. I missed out on a lot of information because no one would sit in my room for to long. Since coming out my gp and outpatient care with bloods etc have been amazing. But not talked in depth about it all and the effects to anyone which worries me.

It’s so nice to have someone to talk to and we are similar stages. We need to keep in touch xx

@Waitingforbabypage the scan went well, thank you for asking :) Here's my little one at exactly 13 weeks. NT measurement was 2.5, now waiting for blood results.

Weirdly enough I threw up today. I've been queasy on and off but never actually sick so far. I thought it was going to get better entering the 2nd trimester, hope it's not here to stay.

Those of you who recommend the bbhugme pillow, that's a long straight one, not a U shaped one right? Would that stop you from going on your back?

June 2021 part 3!
Waitingforbabypage · 19/12/2020 18:00

Ah @PurpleishDahlia that's a lovely picture! So glad your scan went well. It's it nice seeing them bubbling about in there?! 🥰🥰🥰 hopefully your results won't take long to come through x

Mackie2020 · 19/12/2020 19:29

@Fightingtobepositive No, no fluid in the lungs. Thankfully it was confined to my pelvis, but I had 10lbs of fluid sloshing in there and I was so distended my organs were pushed up & I was vomiting & had trouble breathing.

All my outpatient care was at the hospital and on the same ward, but I would see a different junior doctor nearly every time. I only saw a consultant very briefly a couple of times. I also didn't think I got much explanations or answers, but I do think that's partly down to it being so rare to have such a severe case. I think you and I were probably unusual cases in so far as it went on for so long. I think it's all down to managing the clinical symptoms until it resolves itself.

I'm not too worried about it now because everything I've read says that having OHSS won't be bad for the baby or have a big bad effect on the pregnancy. I'll be interested to see what my ovaries are up to at my 20 week scan though!

Fingers crossed we have an easy time of it for the rest of our pregnancies! We shouldn't underestimate just how far we've safely come. X

Still struggling with the nausea, not as bad as it was but still bad food aversion but I am eating enough just really have to try , Coca Cola does relieve the nausea but I'm trying to avoid it due to the caffeine and sugar in it and I feel so guilty when I have some 🙈 any other suggestions ??

TerryRose · 19/12/2020 19:42

@PurpleishDahlia what a fab scan pic 🥰🥰

Firsttimeconcerns · 19/12/2020 19:45

@purpleishDahlia lovely scan image.

The bbhugme you can mould into different shapes. You can wrap it around you and make it in to a v shape if that's what you prefer. I am finding that I am staying on my side easily using it but I guess it might depend on your natural sleeping position? I find it so comfy though!

Mackie2020 · 19/12/2020 20:43

@TerryRose there's something magic about coke, isn't there? I found tonic water quite effective, especially with a slice of lemon, as an alternative.

TerryRose · 19/12/2020 20:55

@Mackie2020 there definitely is ! Always my saving grace during period cramps etc I'll try that as really don't want to be drinking coke ! Thanks Smile

GanderousGoose · 19/12/2020 22:14

Hi all! Currently 14+5 and still feeling pretty grim. I've been lucky not to have any sickness, just some mild nausea sometimes and a few food aversions but the tiredness, awful acid reflux and headaches are really debilitating. Was hoping that trimester 2 would mark a change but still knackered and the headaches and heartburn are worse if anything. On the plus side, 12 week scan went really well and all screening tests came back low risk, which was a big relief since I'm 40 and fatter than I should be!

PinkPlantCase · 20/12/2020 11:19

@GanderousGoose I think weeks 13 and 14 were the worst for me to far. Sickness stopped up and dizziness kicked in. I’m 15+5 now and feeling much more human.

I what annoyed me the most was that I thought symptoms were meant to ease a lot being in the 2nd trimester but they just didn’t

BurningBenches · 20/12/2020 11:43

@GanderousGoose I'm 15+1 and although the bone tiredness has eased and I no longer feel nauseous all day I am still having periods of vomiting/retching most days. No heartburn yet but PGP started on Friday and I could cry. I had it with my 2nd and 3rd but missed it with my 4th so thought at 41 I had grown out of it (wishful thinking)

But also relieved that my screening came back ok for the same reasons.

Hey everyone, I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend despite the announcement yesterday and the lack of alcohol that we’re able to consume during these peculiar times!
Is anyone else suffering with feeling really blocked up at night? I try to blow my nose but there isn’t anything to shift, it just feels really dry and a closed off! It happened in my last pregnancy too but not until much later on. I was wondering if anyone knows if we’re allowed to use anything to help relieve it, I’ve tried the saline nasal spray but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. I feel like I could do with a drop of olbas oil in an infuser but not sure if it’s allowed, does anyone know?

I got the sterimar spray and that seems to do a better job than the standard saline sprays I think it has more power so sprays it further up my nose
Nicolamca · 20/12/2020 18:24

Can I join this thread? Currently 10+3 and due mid July Smile not sure if it's hormones but I don't feel as excited as I did when I first found out and it's making me feel awful :( we'd been trying for a while so I was so happy when we got our BFP but now I just feel...flat. I haven't 'felt' pregnant if that makes any sense? I had some nausea but no vomiting (which was a miracle seeing as I have a really sensitive stomach normally). I think I'm getting the beginnings of a bump but I'm sure it's far too early for that? Would appreciate any advice if anyone's felt the same way!

Snally82 · 20/12/2020 19:08

@Nicolamca I didn’t have sickness or anything really for quite a well (until the tiredness hit) so I didn’t slow myself to feel excited I think. The first trimester is an emotional rollercoaster x

Snally82 · 20/12/2020 19:10

*allow myself

Nicolamca · 20/12/2020 19:16

@Snally82 thanks, that makes me feel a bit better! I've noticed the tiredness (normally never nap but for the last few weeks I've been napping every day) and I wonder if it's that that's not allowing me to feel as excited..

Snally82 · 20/12/2020 19:38

@Nicolamca I bet you’ll feel better after your scan x

Nicolamca · 20/12/2020 19:58

Thanks @Snally82 ☺️

Humpty11 · 20/12/2020 20:45

@123feraverto thank you! I’ll get some of that to try. Fingers crossed it helps because I think my husband is getting a bit fed up of my snoring too 🤷🏼‍♀️

TerryRose · 21/12/2020 11:07

Just saw Kimberley Walsh from Girls Aloud has announced she's 15 weeks pregnant, wonder is she here in our June bus 😂❤️

Hope you are all keeping well and looking forward to the holidays , I've resigned myself to the fact I'll just be able to eat a plate of roast spuds for my Christmas dinner as can't stomach anything else but what harm Smile

Waitingforbabypage · 21/12/2020 22:44

I've gone from sleeping all day and all night through sheer exhaustion to being tired but not being able to sleep at night! I can't win!
I'm pretty sure I felt a little nudge from bump yesterday though so that was a nice moment (after my initial "what the chuff was that?!" reaction 😂)
My skin has gotten worse, it's the whole left side of my face, it's awful! It's like cystic acne which is something I've never had before. I'm just glad I have to wear a mask all day- though it probably makes the situation on my cheek and chin worse.
Nausea has gone for the most part but the food aversions are still there. I would happily eat roast potatoes every day though🤤🤤🤤

ChasingARainbow · 22/12/2020 07:06

Hey, hope you're all doing ok. I've got another scan today at what I think is 15 weeks and 1 day, at our 12 week scan the sonographer couldn't get the exact dating measurements as the baby was moving around so much and I was having such terrible sickness I couldn't keep much fluid in. Since Saturday the sickness and nausea has stopped and I don't have that exhausted feeling any more, I'd forgotten what it feels like to feel normal!!
Quick question has anyone started wearing maternity clothes yet? I bought some leggings a couple of weeks ago but my usual clothes have still fitted however last night after dinner we were going to the supermarket and I felt massive so put the leggings on and they were really comfortable, just wondering when I'll make the proper transition into maternity wear. X
