I have tried to start tidying a bit! We are still doing up our house (it is nearly done inside now thankfully, and husband is getting more of a wiggle on with the rest now we have little one on the way!) so it’s hard to properly tidy but we have a rough plan for the baby’s room and will also need to move ours around to make room for baby next to the bed.

Its always fun trying to declutter, everything seems to become super useful or special all of a sudden 😂

Sitchervice · 10/12/2020 14:03

@PurpleishDahlia
Husband is sooo bad at just leaving stuff everywhere. It's driving me up the wall. We live in a flat would have moved by now but thanks to covid it was a no go. Got to wait until after baby is born.

But trying to get him to stop buying Crap is so hard. He brough a soldering iron for 1 JOB!!! 🤬

Bs93 · 10/12/2020 14:19

12 weeks today 😬 my emotions are so up and down! I had happy tears this morning because I’ve reached 12 weeks. But this afternoon seen stuff in the media about miscarriage and anxious again! Really hoping I feel better after my scan on Monday. I had one at 10 weeks (meant to be 12 week scan but my dates are different, long cycles) and it was amazing. But I’m back to being so worried about the next scan!
Hope everyone’s looking forward to Christmas and that we all feel well enough to enjoy Christmas dinners and chocolate 😊

Talking of body creams, the cowshed mother stretch mark balm is amazing, really absorbs well and doesn't stay greasy on the skin. I use it in the morning and my skin feels hydrated all day and no issues with leaving marks on clothes. A tip I found is rub it in your palms first before putting it on.

ZMS1988 · 10/12/2020 14:57

Hi all,

Resisted posting until my 12 weeks scan today as it didn't feel real 😂.
First pregnancy and hadn't had any private scans so was very surreal to see the baby! (And a relief!)

Due 21st of June, just saying hey 👋🏻

northerngal20 · 10/12/2020 15:03

woohoo @Bs93 i'm 12 weeks (after dating scan) exactly today too! hope you have a good scan on Monday and can then relax a little bit :)

i just got a call explaining anti-d was detected on my booking bloods - so i'm going to be monitored every 4 weeks until 28 weeks then every 2. it's a little concerning and not something i thought i would have to worry about after having the anti-d shot after my last pregnancy, but hopefully it'll all be ok! (+it's good they spotted it and i can have some more scans!)

PurpleishDahlia · 10/12/2020 17:32

@Edelweiss2020 we're still doing up our house too, but we're not done with the inside yet! It is a construction site with a Christmas tree in the middle. Getting rid of things calms my soul.

@Sitchervice when you eventually move it will be the perfect opportunity to see how much stuff you actually have and evaluate. I completely understand you, I hope the soldering job was well done, at least :P

@Bs93 I'm 12 weeks tomorrow, in theory it's a big relief but if you're a worrier you're gonna worry no matter what.. I know that first hand. I am trying meditation now.

Welcome @ZMS1988, hey to you too! :)

Sitchervice · 10/12/2020 18:20

Hi guys I have to go for an Amniocentesis (I have a small plecenter/cord and PAPP-A is low) has anyone had this before? Does it hurt!

pookypup · 10/12/2020 20:13

@BurningBenches how are you getting on? I remember you having difficulty with bleeding and a difficult scan. Hope all is ok.

@Sitchervice no experience, but just wanted to wish you good luck.

Snally82 · 11/12/2020 09:09

@Sitchervice sorry, I can’t help either but sending best wishes! Hope all goes well

Waitingforbabypage · 11/12/2020 09:23

@ZMS1988 hiya! Welcome, hope you're doing ok!
@Sitchervice sorry, no experience here either- hope it all goes well for you xx

I got my letter back with my screening results, low risk for everything, hopefully I can relax a little bit more now and try to enjoy this pregnancy.

Sitchervice · 11/12/2020 09:26

I'm going to withdraw for a bit because my tests came back high for Edwards and Patau's syndrome... I feel like this pregnancy was a failure from the start

PinkPlantCase · 11/12/2020 09:27

@Sitchervice my mum had an amnio many moons ago. She said the worst part was how stressed she got about the idea of having it done. When she went in they said the baby was in the wrong position so she’d have to come back another day. And she went crazy because I think this was at about 22 weeks and was to confirm abnormalities they didn’t want to wait any longer!

In the end it all got sorted and both mum and baby (my sister) were fine Smile they were so relieved afterwards

PinkPlantCase · 11/12/2020 09:31

I’m 14 weeks and I’ve started being sick Envy I only felt sick before but now its actual being sick. So annoying 😞

PurpleishDahlia · 11/12/2020 09:37

@Sitchervice sending my best wishes. Please remember that most high risk results from the combined test do not mean baby actually has the condition (I am quoting my NHS leaflet). I haven't personally had an amnio but family members have and while it was uncomfortable they were fine in the end.

BurningBenches · 11/12/2020 10:34

@sitchervice thinking of you xx

Scarftown · 11/12/2020 11:21

@sitchervice Thinking of you. Do what’s right for your family but as PP has said. A high result isn’t a positive result and the thought of the Amnio is worse than it itself.

BurningBenches · 11/12/2020 11:39

@pookypup aw thank you for asking. I can't remember if I updated.

So I had a huge bleed during my private (abdominal) scan. The Dr was amazing, called me daily to check I was ok, and had me back for a free reassurance scan on Friday.

Baby was fine on Friday, I have 2 small subchrionic haematoma. She thought I would continue to have brown spotting for a while but should be ok.

It's been a week, I'm 14wks tomorrow and the spotting is minimal.

My nuchal results also came back ok on Friday too.

lucieloos · 11/12/2020 11:59

@Sitchervice is it possible to consider a nipt test rather than amino? They are very accurate for patau and edwards

Sitchervice · 11/12/2020 12:04

@lucieloos we can't afford it

Sweetmad · 11/12/2020 15:36

@Sitchervice I’ve had a call as I have low PAPP-A levels but they will not do anything until 24 weeks and then I will have growth scans. Have tried calling mat unit and all sorts today as I didn’t actually find out what the specific result was but haven’t been able to find out. Feel quite lost as my NT was 1.7mm so am very unsure and my gp haven’t had the results yet. Thinking of you x

Sitchervice · 11/12/2020 15:50

@Sweetmad
Where are you located? I was told by a screening midwife about the edwards and Patau's syndrome. They shouldn't be waiting till growth scan. This is very unusual

Sweetmad · 11/12/2020 16:00

@Sitchervice I am based in Essex. When I had my 12 week scan the sonographer said that 1.7 was good for NT and this phone call threw me off completely this morning. Have just managed to call GP but they only have 2 antenatal bloods back not the full lot yet. Am trying to get hold of the hospital at the moment am getting no answer

Sitchervice · 11/12/2020 16:21

@Sweetmad

OK I think i can help you here with the NT confusion. I'll shair my results don't mind because it's not sharing data really just bloods.

Test name Conc. unit. Corr Mom
NT. 1.7 mm 0.96
PAPP-A 317.7 mU/L 0.14
hCGb 16.0 ng/mL 0.50

As you can see my NT was also 1.7 and that's all fine.

The PAPP-A is the issue. That's a protien that is given off by the placenta as far as I understand. With me as long as my edwards and Patau's syndrome comes back clear I'll be given baby aspirin.

Sweetmad · 11/12/2020 16:32

@Sitchervice ah I’m with you know. Sorry this is my first pregnancy and I’m a bit overwhelmed with all of this. I am waiting for the result of my PAPP-A so I know how low it is. I’ve sent an email to the midwifery unit so hopefully they’ll be able to email me the results

Are they completing further tests quickly or do you have to wait a long time? X
