@swiftt
This is my first too. But I got everything same day as my phone call in an email from a screening midwife.

I was booked into an Amniocentesis on the 30th but a family member is paying for me to have a private NIPT test. I am waiting for my baby aspirin though

Nellle · 11/12/2020 17:45

Sorry to hear you are having a stressful time @sweetmad and @stitcherservice

So pleased you are able to have the NIPT @stitcherservice

Remember these results are not diagnostic, they are question marks. I know some who got a 1 in 3 result initially and then her NIPT came back clear. Baby totally fine.

And they can help with the PAPP-A. They weren't even going to test me for it because I went straight for the NIPT, so they can't have been too worried about waiting til 20 weeks to look at it, if ever.

Sending good vibes 💐💐💐

pookypup · 11/12/2020 20:03

@Sitchervice everything crossed here for you, but good to hear you can have the NIPT. My results came back after a week, so hopefully you will not have to wait too long.

@BurningBenches glad you are ok and bleeding settled Smile

Penny2020 · 12/12/2020 07:17

@Mackie2020 I’m only just catching up after a few days but I’m so glad you said about the itchy back! Mine is driving me crazy, all morning and in the shower in particular. Keep asking my partner to check it’s not a rash but I’m relieved (sort of) to hear that maybe it’s just another delightful pregnancy symptom! Thanks for the tips on the lotions and potions ladies, a trip to boots is in order!

I’m 16 weeks today, but still doesn’t feel very real. Can’t believe people are already thinking about decorations and clearing - I need to get focused. Having a gender scan on Tuesday, can’t wait!

Penny2020 · 12/12/2020 07:21

Ask anyone else waking up stupid early, I’ve averaged 5am all week. I’m not enjoying it

Humpty11 · 12/12/2020 07:30

@Penny2020 this has been me for weeks now and it seems to not be changing 😖. I hope yours passes soon! My son doesn’t allow lie ins past 7 anyway, but I’d absolutely love to not wake up before him one day!!!

@Sitchervice I hope you don’t have to wait too long for the results and I’m glad you have a way of getting it done now. Thinking of you.

Nesski · 12/12/2020 07:41

@Humpty11 @penny2020 me too but more like 3/4am, the relentless cycle of getting up earlier then going to bed earlier therefore waking up earlier. I try to take naps which happen 3 hours later, which wasn't possible when still at work but Xmas leave started last week so at least it's less taxing on the body! Averaging 5 hours unbroken sleep (but with the odd toilet break here and there)

Snally82 · 12/12/2020 08:04

Yep me too! But often around 2am... yuk!!! Not for the loo or anything, just awake!

Penny2020 · 12/12/2020 08:07

Oh yeah, @Nesski, hadn’t mentioned I’m normally up a few times before then for toilet trips. Well at least I’m not the only one, I’ll be thinking of you all when I’m lying there at 4am tomorrow then!

Sweetmad · 12/12/2020 08:30

I managed to get through to my midwife department yesterday. She said low Papp-a is quite common and that I’ll just be having growth scans from 24-28 weeks as all my other bloods and tests came back normal; I asked for the Papp-a level but she said she couldn’t tell me but they’re not worried how low it is as it’s just Papp-a and nothing else abnormal on the bloods. I did wonder if it was me as I’ve been struggling to eat fruit and veg lately so have changed my folate acid and vitamin D for pregnacare vitamins and an slowly attempting to reintroduce citrus fruits back into my diet now sickness has subsided as they were my favourite.

Sleep has been a nightmare for me I must wake at least 3 times in the night and just now I’ve been woken up by deliveries that I haven’t even ordered lol

hey @ScotGal88! no not at all - it's good to hear from someone else in a similar boat! good luck in your scan next week - i was super anxious before mine so i know how you feel, but hopefully all will be well this time :)

ah that's really interesting - you could definitely ask your midwife about that at your 16w appointment. i'm actually wondering if mine showed up because they took my bloods really early this time (5 weeks preg), which was only 10 weeks after my erpc (+ anti-D shot). Did they say how much was in your blood? mine was 0.1 and the threshold for concern is 4, so i'm really hoping it was just leftover! they're going to check it again at 16 weeks so i can report back then with hopefully good news!

Sitchervice · 12/12/2020 15:46

@Sweetmad did she say how low it is? Because below 0.30 you might be asked to take baby aspirin

Sweetmad · 12/12/2020 15:49

@Sitchervice no I did ask but she didn’t have it to hand. I am due to see GP for flu jab on Tuesday so will ask if they have it. I have read about aspirin to promote the blood flow and I did buy a box but thought I best wait and see what the hospital say first before taking it

Sitchervice · 12/12/2020 15:55

@Sweetmad
If its low enough they'll prescribe you some. Sounds like it's low but not lower than 0.30.

Sweetmad · 12/12/2020 15:58

@Sitchervice that’s what I was wondering if it was just borderline maybe. Although I did receive my letter for my consultant appointment that is in March and via the telephone instead of face to face and it mentioned with a view to progressing with growth scans so maybe they’ll assess the situation further when I have bloods at 16&20 weeks and the size of baby on the scan then? It just feels all very overwhelming still. Hope you’re doing okay x

Sitchervice · 12/12/2020 16:06

@Sweetmad

I know what you mean. I'm still reeling from the info regarding my risk level. 😔 They've signed me off work for a while so I can recover. But the fact the midwife said when I get the good results back not if made me feel a little better.

Sweetmad · 12/12/2020 16:33

@Sitchervice oh bless you 😔feet up and relax as much as you can (I know it’s easier said than done) midwives are amazing people and I always think they know what the outcome will be as they see this day in day out. Fingers crossed for you x

PinkPlantCase · 13/12/2020 07:37

@Sweetmad I can’t help about PAPPA but I’m currently under joint midwife/consultant care because of a pre existing breathing condition. So far everyone I’ve seen has been a midwife but my 20 week scan will be in the hospital and I’ll seen a consultant afterwards. Maybe that could be something you could ask for if you want to know more earlier on? Though it sounds like their plan of seeing you in March is based around having a couple of different scans for them to get a good idea of growth.

With me they want the consultant to say if they think I’ll be okay to give birth. Eg will I still be able to breathe and push. I find the whole thing a bit odd really, it took us years to find a specialist who understands what’s up with my breathing so I very much doubt this obstetrician will have even heard of it before 😂

TerryRose · 13/12/2020 18:02

Hey ladies, had to use another account as changed phone and can't login to my email to recover my password , was here as AnnaPosie

Had my 12 week scan Thursday, measuring at 13 weeks 1 day as expected , all looks well so hopefully this continues.

In relation to the harmony test, anyone else here who is undecided about it ?

I’m sorry I have just realised I accident left my personal details on the picture I attached. I have asked for the post to be removed 🤦‍♀️

Snally82 · 13/12/2020 20:36

I did exactly that @kahstorm!

Snally82 · 13/12/2020 20:39

@TerryRose cute scan pic! Sorry we were decided right away about the harmony test so no indecision for us x

Nesski · 13/12/2020 21:31

@TerryRose I did the harmony test for a piece of mind even before my 12 week, it was for a piece of mind and I definitely got that, but looking at it retrospectively my nuchal scan tests came out fine so I probably would do it the other way round if there is a next time. Also, I wanted the tests done earlier so I could make a decision before getting attached...
