It's been worrying me also because I went to my mw app at 2pm she called the hospital and I've been there since 2.45 till now looking into all different things then to be monitored twice a week they must be worried but then not worried enough to keep me in so do no where I stand if that makes sense

Grumpy19 · 15/12/2020 20:04

Have you had much reduced movement prior to this? I have been in twice so I'm worried they'll see it as an issue if I go in again. I have an anterior placenta for the first time this pregnancy.
The thing is if they know shoulder dystocia is a possibility they will be prepared for it.
I had shoulder dystocia with DC2. It was frightening as suddenly everyone went crazy and loads of people rushed into the room. But she was fine. I am talking to my consultant next Tuesday about the same issue. At the moment this baby is predicted about 8 1/2lbs at 40 weeks but that is big for me.

Grumpy19 · 15/12/2020 20:06

Did you get movements during the monitoring? How worrying for you!

BuffaloMozzerella · 15/12/2020 20:24

@funtimestobehad I had it during my first birth. I was given ABs intravenously as soon as I went into active labour and then after that they are given again every 4 hours. I had my baby just before the 4 hours was up so didn't get a second dose.

It probably differs per hospital but I was kept in for 36 hours and baby had temperature taken under the arm every 12 hours. No issues at all.

BuffaloMozzerella · 15/12/2020 20:28

Oh and having it meant I couldn't have a water birth. Otherwise my birth wasn't restricted in any way. I don't know if you'd be allowed a home birth or not.

WhoUsedMyName · 16/12/2020 09:11

@Grumpy19 he hasn't been himself I would say the last week and when the mw was doing his heart and poking him around she said I'm not happy he's not getting exciting enough for my liking and when she asked me about movement I thought about it and was like actually no he hasn't

Tink2020 · 16/12/2020 09:13

Hi everyone, keep forgetting to pop back and check in. I hope everyone is ok. I’m 34 weeks tomorrow and had my first experience of Braxton Hicks yesterday x

MeganC104 · 16/12/2020 10:38

@WhoUsedMyName

Sorry to hear that.
Was there any concerns about the discharge as well or was that ok?

I'm getting so much pressure down below now and almost a popping sensation when he stretches out lowdown. Could that be anything to do with my cervix dilating maybe?

funtimestobehad · 16/12/2020 11:38

@BuffaloMozzerella ...thank you for your reply. I have since spoken to my midwife and she confirmed the antibiotics every 4 hours for 10 minutes and that a water birth would no longer be possible. Also, I'm not in the UK, and the hospital will insist that I stay in for a minimum of 3 days...this is pretty stressful as the hospitals here are more like prison camps, and due to COVID my husband can't even visit or bring me anything. I also have a 2 year old at home that we will have to try and work out care for...

I am so stressed if I'm honest...does anyone else think that they are crazy to have gotten pregnant in the middle of a pandemic? 🙈

Am I awful for saying that?

MeganC104 · 16/12/2020 11:58

@funtimestobehad No I've been thinking the exact same but there never seems to be a right time to have a baby. And we'll all cope regardless

BuffaloMozzerella · 16/12/2020 12:13

@funtimestobehad That is really rubbish. I'm also not in the UK (in Ireland) and it does generally seem to be a less progressive here. 3 days after the birth on your own is really crap.

I'm having a section this time round and I've also got to stay in for 3/4 days after the birth. My DP will be allowed in for only 1 hour a day. We are trying to organise my DM to come over from the UK to help with our 2 year old but it's all such a hassle and so uncertain with bloody Covid. I feel like the birth is now something to endure and get through pretty much on my own - so I get how you're feeling.

(Sorry to impose myself on the thread btw..! I'm actually due in Feb but I like reading about the people who are due just before me so I have been lurking.)

MnM156 · 16/12/2020 13:43

@198435years
Hope you are all well and fine. Has Eve come home yet? Thinking about you.

MnM156 · 16/12/2020 13:44

I am getting induced tomorrow. First baby so have no idea what to expect. Just going over the last minute things at home today. Had the baby come when he was actually due he would have shared his birthday with me lol

funtimestobehad · 16/12/2020 13:50

@BuffaloMozzerella you have it exactly right! Rather than looking forward to bringing my son into the world, I am stressing about how to manage everything. My mum is also trying to get over to see me from the Uk, but it isn't looking too good because of Covid, and also Brexit making things more difficult. So I have to count on her not making it, and if she does then that will be a bonus.

Now that I know I have a longer stay in hospital, I have just popped out to the shops (before they close again in 2 days), to buy myself a nice pair of pyjamas so I can try to feel as fabulous as I can after the birth!! It's the little things 🤷‍♀️☺️

Grumpy19 · 16/12/2020 14:24

@MnM156 good luck for tomorrow! X

@WhoUsedMyName, hope you're feeling ok today. Not long to go now so hopefully all the monitoring won't seem too much! These babies do like to cause us worry don't they!!

footprintsintheslow · 16/12/2020 15:42

@funtimestobehad I almost feel like apologising to nhs staff for being pregnant as they are so stretched right now!

No choice for me as at 40 time was running out. Pandemic or no pandemic it was now or never and people always have babies.

@MnM156 the best of luck for tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you and awaiting a wonderful update to lift all our spirits.

198435years · 16/12/2020 15:55

@MnM156 We are almost there with her. She's off a lot of the equipment and breathing by herself. She had a suspected infection as well so needed antibiotics but she's a lot better now. She's also jaundice so waiting for that to go down whilst introducing her to feeds and then after that's all ok we should be able to look at getting her home. She's done amazing in a week.

Hope everything goes well tomorrow and look forward to hearing from u x

pigletpie2177 · 16/12/2020 16:29

@MnM156 good luck for tomorrow!

@198435years how you getting on?x

ttcchapter1 · 16/12/2020 18:06

@MnM156 how many weeks are you being induced at and do you mind sharing why?

VeeVeeBee77 · 16/12/2020 19:00

@MnM156 Good luck for tomorrow!

MnM156 · 16/12/2020 20:07

Thank you all very much! It all still feels unreal. I have no idea what to expect or feel at the moment. Hope it all goes well tomorrow.

@ttcchapter1 Being induced at 37+5 weeks so not too early. I shared the complications earlier here. The baby is categorised as an SGA baby. He has grown steadily but still very small. Have had about 6 scans in last 6 weeks...they monitored him very thoroughly and in the end strongly recommended induction to avoid any further complications. The baby also has unilateral Talipes but that is not the reason for the induction. Just his weight and size.

MnM156 · 16/12/2020 20:08

@198435years
So so glad to hear about her speedy recovery. She would be home really soon. I am so happy that you are mostly there with her and can see her easily. Can't wait to see your going home picture and sharing mine :)

footprintsintheslow · 16/12/2020 20:27

@198435years that's a wonderful update to read. Well done you!

@MnM156 how are you spending your last night of being a human with no child?

ttcchapter1 · 17/12/2020 00:16

@MnM156 ohh im so sorry. i did read your previous post but got confused with the usernames 🙈 wishing you the best of luck that everything goes as smoothly as possible.

MnM156 · 17/12/2020 10:35

@footprintsintheslow
Didn't spend the last night as we had hoped. My hubby had to have a small procedure done at an A&E (without anaesthesia) and we spent half the night awake as he was in excruciating pain and could hardly move his arm. He has to go in again today while I get the foley balloon fixed. I was besides myself worrying for his arm, myself and the baby. Hope things go a little more smoothly than yesterday.
