I’m 16 weeks tomorrow - and don’t think I’ve felt anything however it’s my first baby so not sure what it will feel like when I do feel it! I don’t even have a bump or anything yet.....just look like I’ve had a big meal sometimes hahaha xx

pinkgin8 · 26/01/2021 13:07

@AliceinBunniland 16 weeks, I can feel some movements but not kicks yet! Although wasn't expecting too just yet. But it isn't all the time constantly so wondered how everyone else is doing x

pinkgin8 · 26/01/2021 13:08

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE

I may try that 🤣 but I'd be too worried to lay on my front 😅

pinkgin8 · 26/01/2021 13:09

@TiredAlreadyOhDear congratulations on your first 😁 I felt movements at this time with my first so it seems to be going similar but I'm not sure if I felt bigger movements with my first

Hmm I still sleep on my front at the moment! Though am about to order a pregnancy pillow to try to get me onto my side.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 26/01/2021 13:19

Ive just clocked there is now a thread for those due in OCTOBER, that seems like madness

pinkgin8 · 26/01/2021 13:25

@PurpleCurtain oh okay! It's pretty safe then!

And what?? October!? That seems a bit way out!

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 26/01/2021 13:46

@PurpleCurtain I’ve just ordered a pillow this morning - hope it helps me sleep!

@pinkgin8 thanks - I’m really hoping I start feeling something soon - but sometimes I think maybe I am but I just don’t know that it’s the baby as I’ve nothing to compare to.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 26/01/2021 13:51

I never had any luck with a pregnancy pillow, just made me too hot and got in my way Blush

pinkgin8 · 26/01/2021 13:59

@TiredAlreadyOhDear it probably is little movements to be honest! Obviously the bigger they get the stronger the feel is, you'll definitely notice when it happens properly!x

PurpleCurtain · 26/01/2021 14:27

@TiredAlreadyOhDear which one did you go for? I can't quite bring myself to splurge on the bbhugme so I'm looking at the Kally Body Pillow instead but not checked out yet!

@pinkgin8 my midwife said front-sleeping is fine throughout it's just that there will come a time where it's not comfortable!

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 26/01/2021 14:38

@PurpleCurtain I just ordered one off amazon - I didn’t want to spend a fortune as I’m not sure if it will help or not like @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE says I’m worried it will just make me feel overheated!

Anyone bought anything baby wise yet? I’ve started getting a couple of little bits!

PeanutButterFalcon · 26/01/2021 15:16

@TiredAlreadyOhDear what have you bought? I have seen things on offer I like but don’t feel ready yet.

I got a pillow cheap off Amazon - just a sausage and I personally find it amazing. Having some back and hip pain and I find it really helps

Luckyelephant1 · 26/01/2021 15:51

I'm 16 weeks with my first and haven't felt any movements yet although this is the first week where I've started to notice the makings of a small bump as opposed to just bloat (still bloated too though 😂). Had a midwife apt today and she said it's normal for movements to not be felt until gone 22 weeks sometimes.

Been trying to get back into some form of exercise routine this week and my god I feel so unfit, breathless and inflexible!

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 27/01/2021 08:13

@PeanutButterFalcon
I’ve just bought the Moses basket and a few white vests and baby grows - that’s all...although not 100% sure when I should start buying I don’t want to leave it late but also don’t want to get things too soon! Hopefully Covid restrictions will lift enough for us to be able to go to shops and test out some travel systems - I have a dog so need one that will be good off road - but feel like I need to see one and push one before I buy! Xx

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 27/01/2021 08:34

I think i will buy things when we know if we are having a boy/girl

Our youngest two are boys so i know i have quite a bit of boy clothes. Once we find out i can sort through those and work out what we do / do not need

I am struggling to choose a double pram

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 27/01/2021 13:40

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE yeah I think if I already had children i would hold off - I guess you already have lots of things too! Seems like we have so much to buy as we have nothing for a baby! I don’t think we’re going to find out the sex as it’s the first but I would if I was having a second or third! Oh gosh I bet the double buggy’s are harder to research than just single and single is a minefield!

Had my whooping cough and flu jab today as well so at least they’re done :)

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 27/01/2021 14:12

Yep we pretty much need ....

Clothes
Bottles
Pram

And thats about it although i am debating a bedside crib

PeanutButterFalcon · 27/01/2021 14:50

@TiredAlreadyOhDear I feel exactly the same. I feel like it’s too early now but have been told not to leave it really late as things can take a while to be delivered. Can’t really see anything online about when to start buying, although I’ve found some lists of what to buy that seem helpful - first baby too.
I definitely agree with pushing a pram to see what it’s like. I want a lightweight one that’s easy to manage due to a arm injury which I can’t tell online. It’s exciting isn’t it! Are you storing it all in your home?

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE have you looked at the post recently that had recommendations for double buggy’s? I love the silver cross wave

PurpleCurtain · 27/01/2021 19:18

20 week scan sounds like a sensible point to start buying at least the big things, having made a shortlist previously!

I have another strange question today - how much pressure can I safely put on my lower abdomen right now? Long story (overworked!) but I found myself asleep on my stomach on the hard living room floor with my full weight on my hands/ fists which were underneath me and clearly digging in really hard! Just above my pubic bone which I assumed was where baby is right now. It felt like more pressure than the midwife etc applies, and now I have some cramps Blush Could this be a cause for worry/ something I should get checked out? I know the stance is "baby is well protected" but not sure what the limit to that is!

God I would love to be at the point where I can feel kicks to reassure me each time me or husband worries about something!

AliceinBunniland · 27/01/2021 19:29

@PurpleCurtain I've read on MN that midwives have told people we can sleep on our fronts as long as it's comfortable. Speak to your midwife if you are worried but I expect they would say everything is well cushioned and it's nothing to worry about

PurpleCurtain · 27/01/2021 19:36

Thanks - my own midwife has told me this, it's the hand digging in part (and resultant cramps) that has me a little worried! Will give her a message when she's next working (Friday I think).

AliceinBunniland · 27/01/2021 19:43

@PurpleCurtain I know what you mean. I think the cramping could be unrelated but it's worrying when it coincides with something else. I was worrying last week after I saw the midwife the way she was poking me pretty robustly to try and find the heartbeat. She found it but I think went home worried about how hard she'd jabbed me in all directions! Definitely seek some reassurance if you need it.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 27/01/2021 19:46

Cramping could easily just be related to things growing / stretching / moving at this point

I fell down the stairs at this kind of point in a previous pregnancy and was reassured that baby was well protected in there and not to worry unless had painful cramping and / or bleeding

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 27/01/2021 19:58

@PeanutButterFalcon
Yeah it’s so exciting! Just keeping what we have bought at home in the spare room which will be the baby’s room. Just really hope lockdown eases enough to do the pram checks in store haha!
