Does the letter not explain at all? I have just had a letter explaining i will be treated as mw led until 36 weeks then moved to consultant unless any issues arise before then

PeanutButterFalcon · 25/01/2021 12:43

Not from what I can tell. It looks like a generic letter they send out as it’s got lots about postnatal appointments on there too. Almost missed the part where it says it’s with a consultant.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 25/01/2021 12:48

Do you have a midwife app coming up where you can ask maybe?

PeanutButterFalcon · 25/01/2021 12:59

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I’ve just had my 16 week appointment and she didn’t mention anything. I’ve sent her a text to ask what it is but wondered if it was routine. First baby so not sure what’s normal or not

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 25/01/2021 13:11

Unless that letter is your scan but its late isnt it Hmm i saw cobsultant at 12 week scan and will at my 20 week but then all being well ill be mw led 20-36 weeks

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 25/01/2021 13:29

Has anyone had their flu jab and whooping cough yet? I’ve got both of mine in the next week - hoping it doesn’t make me feel too rubbish! Xx

AliceinBunniland · 25/01/2021 13:31

I had my flu jab at 12 weeks and just had a sore arm and felt a bit hot so took some paracetemol.

My surgery do the whooping cough from 16 weeks but I'm due to see my consultant next week so I'm going to speak to her about it before I have it. I don't remember it making me feel ill when I had it in my first pregnancy.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 25/01/2021 13:33

I had my flu jab at my scan at 15 week, just a sore arm

I have the other at my 28 week app

PeanutButterFalcon · 25/01/2021 13:58

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE the scans are running behind in my area due to covid but not had that appointment through yet. Heard from my midwife and it’s because I’m at risk of having a smaller baby although I’m not sure why. Would of been nice if she had told me last week but I’m sure they’ll explain it at the appointment. Hope everything goes well for you.
@TiredAlreadyOhDear I had my flu jab before I fell pregnant but they do it before 12 weeks here. No side effects for me. They’ve said to book whooping cough with my GP after my 20 week scan.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 25/01/2021 14:00

Have you had a small baby before @PeanutButterFalcon?

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 25/01/2021 14:02

@PeanutButterFalcon

I was told whooping cough from 16 weeks which I am on weds when I’m due my jab - worried it might be a little early now tho! I’ll check with my midwife.

I think i missed My flu one and have been putting it off to be fair as it’s made a lot of people feel really unwell and I’ve just started feeling better so didn’t want to feel unwell again🙈

PurpleCurtain · 25/01/2021 15:33

Hi everyone! Had a private scan yesterday which was great to see - and having a boy!

Finally felt I could tell my mum our news (not very close to her). She told me she had big problems with high blood pressure, thyroid, and also heart palpitations in her pregnancies (which I've been struggling with but think they are explainable although worrying... genuinely thought my heart was going to burst whilst fibbing whilst telling a board game yesterday Shock ).

Anyway midwife now wants me to take aspirin but also said it's probably too late - are there risks of taking it? I'm upset that not being close enough to my mum to know her medical history might have caused me issues!

PurpleCurtain · 25/01/2021 15:37

@TiredAlreadyOhDear I was told 20 weeks for whooping cough, but it might be that that is just a local approach rather than a medical decision!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 25/01/2021 15:44

@PurpleCurtain fantastic news on the scan and a baby boy 💙

I wish i knew what ours is already!

Try not to worry about the stuff with your mum, i have no contact with mine and do not know these things about her either. I imagine lots of people have these issues e.g. those who are adopted

AliceinBunniland · 25/01/2021 16:11

Our surgery does whopping cough from 16 weeks but I think it used to be 20. I think gp practices have their own policies eg my go surgery would not give flu jab before 12 weeks even though most do.

PeanutButterFalcon · 25/01/2021 16:50

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE no this is my first pregnancy. Not sure I want to google it either I’ll probably freak myself out.

@TiredAlreadyOhDear I would guess it’s different in each area, although I expect there is some guidance they have to follow. Apart from a sore arm I was completely fine with the flu one.

@PurpleCurtain Congratulations on your little boy. I believe the aspirin is to keep your BP down so I would imagine if yours is low currently no harm would be done in missing a couple of weeks.

AliceinBunniland · 25/01/2021 17:59

I suggest speaking to your midwife / consultant about the reasons for taking her asprin and the risks @PurpleCurtain I take asprin because the consultant prescribed it. It is supposed to help the placenta work but I'm sure it has other benefits. My first baby died from a cord accident and I don't believe there were any issues with the placenta but I this consultant recommends it to most patients. I have low blood pressure so it's not related to that for me. I trust the consultant because she is a specialist and has care of all the woman who have previously lost a baby at a later stage in our hospital area.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 25/01/2021 18:10

@AliceinBunniland so very sorry to hear of your loss Flowers it is good you feel you can trust your consultant, my friend lost a baby due to a cord accident and went on to have another two with no complications

PurpleCurtain · 25/01/2021 18:18

Thanks @AliceinBunniland, really helpful. The midwife said she asked a consultant, who recommends anyone with even a slightly increased risk of pre-eclampsia takes it (and as this is my first pregnancy and my mum had high blood pressure in both hers thats apparently enough). From what I've read there are few negatives/ it does seem very safe so I think I will trust and go for it, I think it's the fact that I can't speak to the consultant direct that I don't like!

PurpleCurtain · 25/01/2021 18:21

And echoing what snowflake said, and very glad you are under good consultant care regardless!

AliceinBunniland · 25/01/2021 18:28

Thank you @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE 💗

Thanks @PurpleCurtain That's the conclusion I came to as well. Just so you know my consultant said it is best to take it at night as research shows it works best then but obviously go with what your midwife says if they say something different.

Fartymcfart · 26/01/2021 10:41

Had a scan today and am 14 weeks exactly.
I am much more anxious in this pregnancy than my previous 3, maybe because I am older

pinkgin8 · 26/01/2021 11:29

Anyone else 4 months? Have you felt movement yet?

AliceinBunniland · 26/01/2021 11:43

@pinkgin8 How many weeks are you? I'm 16+6 and I have felt like maybe I've felt movements for a week or so but really not sure at all.

With my first baby I think I felt movement from about 18 weeks but can't remember exactly. I just remember was feeling movement daily by the time I had my 20 week scan so must have been feeling them for a week or two.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 26/01/2021 11:47

17+2

I have been able to feel flutters for a while if lay on my front (although this is obviously becoming more difficult to do) this is my sixth baby though and i have NO stomach muscles what so ever
